Yes! I totally feel that everyone should decorate their home the way they love! Who cares if the experts say it’s stylish? I want to love it even if others might not! My favorite colors are red and pink and I have decorated that way! I love it!

Recently I decided my decor needed updated but I don’t really want to spend money. So, I decided I would take everything out of every room and redecorate using everything in a different room. It feels new but it was a free and easy redo! I decided a long time ago that you can’t please everyone so I don’t even try. If I love it and my husband is ok with it then it doesn’t matter what other people think.
I’m doing the exact same thing! 👌🏼
My favorite thing to do is “shop my own house” basically just go around the house and re-think things and move them around to try out in other spaces.

Great video Leslie.I was just talking about this. Love what you already have. I have “Redecorated “ my place with things I already have just by moving them around to different spots or hanging them in a different room. Looks great and I saved my self money. Also go to a good thrift store and see what treasure you might find there. 😊

Absolutely love this video. I fell in love with my home when we gave some thought to moving south. I looked at homes.... 1000+ in several areas in North and South Carolina. Where I have lived before but in various areas of both states. After spending hours and days and a few weeks of looking, I woke up one day, walked into my kitchen and realized, this is the home I want to spend the rest of my life in. My family all live in different states, Tampa, FL, Boston, MA, and Charleston, SC. I have lived in Pasadena, Savannah, Charleston and Charlotte. Now I live in a small town in WV. (My home state) our house is 25 years old built by my second husband. It is beautiful but most importantly so well built! However, the walls are light brown with darker brown below the chair railing. The leather furniture is brown!!! So very very dull and depressing! We have decided to paint our entire house and get new carpeting! All the door and window framing is wood along with the chair railing. And a floor to ceiling book case with three sections 3 feet wide each! Of course my husband does not want to paint the wood, but we are going with a light grey paint
throughout the two bedroom home. With new carpet throughout! You have given me wonderful ideas about decorating! What makes me happy. Family pictures.. dog pictures! I am struggling with the type of furniture and positioning. We have a great room with only one spot for the TV. On a walk. So we are limited. I will continue to watch all of your video's for help. So far you have covered almost everything and more! Thank you Leslie!!! ❤️
Love when you do these informative videos with one topic in different categories. And yes I'm very eclectic because I love to decorate for me and what makes me feel happy and cozy and gives me that home-sweet-home feeling. I absolutely love spending time in my home. I also love light in the room and when I get up in the morning I come downstairs and I open every single blind and shade...all 19 of them!!! And I sing Here Comes the Sun! Even on cloudy days😊

My mother in law put all of her photos in frames on the walls in the hall. She called a rouges gallery. I loved the idea.

You validate me! My table is always set. Ready for company. Or just me. I have stacks of books 📚, fresh flowers (zinnia and basil and mint in summer) and a bowl of cherry tomatoes next to the kitchen sink, and fresh fruit in my Granny's wooden bowl on the island. And, when I open certain cupboard doors, favorite photos of my kiddos look back at me just when I need it.

I totally agree with you. I have collected a lot of antiques thru our 45 years of marriage. When we first started we couldn't really find a lot for the money we had. I ended up just buying old stuff. lol Thru the years I have had to make a decision to get rid of a lot of stuff. Replace it with finer antiques. Plus my tastes have changed. I have a small house now, which is fine, less to clean. But I have to make sure I like something to keep it here. I'm not one to move furniture around in the rooms, unless I have to for a Christmas tree or something. I love family pictures and clocks. hahaha, sounds like my house is ugly, but it's really not. I am very lucky to have a son that draws portraits, so my family pictures are drawings he has made me. They are simply beautiful. So I am glad someone is finally agreeing with me that I don't have to rush to the store and buy the latest fad. Btw, I used your idea on the toilet paper pumpkins and they are so cute. I have them on my mantel. Sorry I am so long winded, but thank you for this video. You've made me love my home even more. Stay safe, stay well. God bless you two.

Wonderful video, Leslie!!! Too many people aim for "perfection" instead of being happy with what they have. We spent many years remodeling our home and now I feel total peace whenever I walk into it after being away (even for a couple of hours) - because it's mine and reflects my taste and what's important to me. Yes, including a wall or two of family photos.

Such great tips! I sold my 2,000+ square foot home and downsized to 1,400 square feet. I got rid of EVERYTHING! 1 year before I sold it I slowly purchased all new decor because I had a vision of what I wanted this next house to be. It’s still a work in progress though lol. But I agree, always edit! Give to those less fortunate.

Thanks for this. I added a tray of China teacups to my coffee table, lite the candle, added a quilt to the back of the sofa and replaced one piece of artwork I wasn't loving with one I do. Small changes but it is enjoyable now to look at my coffee table and to see the other things I've added to the room. Thanks!!

Hi Leslie, I just loved this video, even though it's much later when I watched this. For me it was the first time and don't know how I missed it. I agree with this kind advice you gave. If you make a home from a youtuber, or from a magazine, it's not yours. And I get you can get inspiration from both those, but still make it yours with your personal style. I love this video! I'm completely redoing my bedroom from the floor to walls to new furniture. Luckily, my furniture won't arrive until Spring and I will be able to get rid of what is in there now and have a fresh canvas to work with. For anyone ordering furniture and appliances, expect HUGE delays. I replaced my dryer last week and was fortunate to get what I wanted quickly because gas dryers don't seem to sell as fast as electric. I'm so excited with my new furniture that is coming, the company I ordered from has gorgeous designs!

Love your videos, ideas and enthusiasm. I am an eclectic decorator. I stick with a color scheme but go beyond neutrals. Also have walls full of art from artistic friends and even some of mine. It makes me feel happy. However, have to work on mini clutter, which is difficult in smaller condo. No garage, basement, attic for storage. Big problem for many.

A very helpful video and hopefully a reality check.for so many young women, wives and moms. Pinterest and TH-cam has so many benefits but it also portrays an often unrealistic vision of what a cozy family home can be or should be.
You offer so many wonderful.suggestions. Families need to follow their personal likes. Trends and fads and buying the newest decor piece is not always possible or attainable for so many people today. Learning to repurpose or paint or DIY is a young decorators best friend.

Love your videos and the yellow looks bright, cheery and nice but of course if you are tired of it, go for it. Mine is my basement. I would like it to look like your attic just a little bit! Now I'm trying to refresh some of my rooms mainly by using things I already had that I love and some goodwill and antique shop fines. I like to change for the seasons but am finding it hard to get things from the basement and then put them back to place. I have no Jason to help. So happy for your daughter and you and Jason as grandparents!
