Black Woman Wears Kimono In Japan For The First Time! How Will Locals React?

I was shocked at what was yelled out to me when I walked around Kyoto in a traditional kimono. As an African American wearing a kimono, I was really nervous about what the Japanese would think, especially since I was ALONE! I didn't know if it would be considered cultural appropriation or appreciation. I booked a walking tour experience to be dressed in a kimono, thinking that I would walk around with a tour guide and learn more about Kyoto and what the kimono represents, but I misunderstood the experience booked and ended up alone.
