For the record the cradle of sulevin still works with patch 10 (don't know about the others i already cleared Valeska's watch and i haven't gone to the wastes yet) And now with the golden nug you can basically make it infinite by just synchronizing, saving, running through the cradle and getting every schematic, synchronize, load up the earlier save, resynch and tada all the schematics but you haven't touched a single chest yet. So even chests that only have a schematic it's safe to take as long as you don't overwrite the save from before you went to the cradle.
02:30 Valeska's Watch in Emprise du Leon is one of few great places to farm T3 schematics (and items generally), because you don't need to rezone, just run outside, save and reload, and all chests inside will be reset. p.s. T3 schematic farming isn't about chests with high chance, but about what you need to do to reset chests. Some locations allow to run outside of building with chests, save & reload and just come back instead of jumping to other location and then jumping back and run all the way to chests. The more schematics you have, the less chance to find others you have, I've found about 3/4 of all T3 in Hinterlands, Valammar cave's vault at nightmare difficulty with rogue character level 4. Four. But not all schematics. When you find a lot, not only chance goes down, but at some point the rest gets locked, like, 0% chance to find any. For me it's superb rogue helmet and Mortalitasi staff that I can't find at all, even after 200-300 reloads. It seems that T3 chests are different by level of items they generate. The higher level, the more the chance to get schematics, so buckets in Elfsblood tower in Emprise du Leon have higher chance for schematics than bucket in Valammar in Hinterlands. I guess Cradle of Sulevin have even more high-leveled containers.
The 2 main things about chests in DAI are - the one you mentioned that they respawn contents if not completely empty - and the other is that you can save at some distance, about 3 seconds of running or 6 steps of animation, run to it to check, and reload quicksave to get different loot. If you save closer, chest' contents are saved into savegame and you'll need to rezone.
Item drop generation is still somewhat unknown. What is known is that there are roughly 3 tiers of chests corresponding to the tier of items and schematics you can receive from them. However, it is possible the level of your character makes a difference in additional to the tier of the chest. for example, I did not start finding many superior or superb schematics from cradle of sulevin until past level 16. Maybe it was just rng, it would require a lot more trials to find out. I dont even know of the mortalitasi staff even exists as a random drop or if it was disabled due to an oversight like superb ring of critical chance or superb amulet of strength. Masterwork weapon t3 schematics and shields are sometimes special drops from static chests or missions(masterwork archon staff for example). I have indefinably found Superior Skirmisher Hat from cradle of sulevin or similar. Its worth mentioning the dwarven chest next to cullen in haven is the first chance to find t2 schematics, and the first place to find t3 is from valanmar vault for those wishing to power game to the extreme. Did you by chance find superior [battlemage/prowler/battlemaster] armor from valanmar? I have never been able to find these outside of the hissing wastes merchant with the short list perk.

Thing is, staff isn't the only golden schematic I can't find. Somehow when you've found most of them, rest gets locked completely.
Yeah, that and they never put the one for the dragon hunter helm into the game. They wrapped development on this game way too soon, there was still a lot of "low hanging fruit", so to speak, around that they could have taken care of. Especially given the fact that DA games tend to have a very long life span with the player-base. If they had only made it something we could mod/fix as a community like Bethesda did with the Fallout or Elder Scrolls games, we wouldn't be having this conversation. Such a miss.

Once thing I didn't mention in the video is that when you're at Valeska's Watching out in Emprise du Lion you only need to run outside the entrance past the landmark and up out the first door to get it to reset the chests, you don't need to leave the zone do a reload of your game. Claude Ducimo You don't even need to complete the quest. As long as you can deal with the occasional spider or zombie popping up (when you're downstairs) you can head in as early as you can manage and start farming. Valeska's Watch out in Emprise du Lion has fewer chests, but might also be a good spot, as you don't have to leave the zone or reload to reset them you just run out of the little underground dungeon they are in and everything resets then you can just head back in. I personally I like CoS, just for the fact that there are so many containers in there. +Lukas Marciano If you're just looking to buy some of the actual items, I would suggest visiting the Dog vendor out in the Hissing Wastes. If you locate the Canyon camp, there is a large V-shaped canyon in the center of the map. The vendor is at the tip of the V. Be wary, though, there are a number of spiders that patrol the area leading down to the vendor. Now if you're just looking for the top end Tier 3 schematics, then you'll have to farm for them. For the most part, the best arm and leg armor schematics are random drops, they are not something you can just go buy. Luckily with addition of the Golden Nug, you really only need to find them once and thereafter you can just synch them to your account and never have to worry about farming for them again in future playthroughs.

You'd have to Google a list of them. In general you'd be "farming" the cradle, or some other place for tier 3 armor or weapon schematics, because there was something specific you were looking for. Without having a specific goal in mind, I think after a few runs through there you'd want to slit your wrists from the sheer boredom of the task...
... the reason you'd not be able to find them all just by using one single location would because inevitably you'll wind up emptying a container to get a schematic and then that container would be gone as a possible container that would drop a schematic. Hence having a goal in mind where you're looking for something specific and just resetting the container loot, over and over again, until what you're looking for shows up.
Rifts are a great place to farm for rune crafting materials. Just find one that spawns the demons you need and keep killing them over and over and resetting the rift. Also, the Tomb's for the Tomb of Fairel quest out in the Hissing Wastes. If you active ate the torches in the wrong order it will spawn rage demons as many times as you want it to. Can you farm schematics from ANY chest? Like snake boxes or other things? I already blew through Sulevin and Emprise before finding out about this exploit :(
pretty much. i heard about this and found one of those little square gold ones in emprise du lion and kept doing this until i got some good schematics.
tried. the trick now is to get what you want from the chest, not all, save game then travel to another land not in the same map, so world map another camp then back there. this refreshesh the chest. nevertheless nothing even t2 schematics shown after 6 or 7 times..... another question since you seem quite preparred. i am trying to build the perfect stave, in theory i should have obtained the schematics after the iron bull quest and sacrificing his mates, i didn got it. just a strange mage sword with no blade wich i made for viviane has it doesnt shoot and acts as blade even with normal attacks. so can you help me with t3 schematics in general ( even blade of stave and parts ) and most important..... nice t3 stave thx
They are there until you actually empty a container, then they won't respawn. But yes, there is grinding/farming required to get them as they are random. But with the Golden Nug, you just farm for them once and then never have to do it again on future or other existing playthroughs.

***** Yep it does. No patch related changes that would affect this. The fixes they put in were to keep people from duping Amulets of Power with a glitch in the game. This is built in functionality, it doesn't seem likely they would change how the entire loot spawning system works. At least it doesn't seem likely to me.

***** There's some conjecture on that floating around. No one really knows for sure. Regardless I'd say give it a shot and make your own conclusions. Also you might want to try Valeska's Watch, if you're not planning to. You only have to run out near the door leading to the surface of that place to reset the chests, you don't have to reload. If you're playing on a good PC, reloading / zone loading shouldn't be an issue, but on the consoles I've seen how long it takes to reload / rezone compared to a PC and I would not want to have to do over and over again to farm. You'll know it reset when you turn around and the interior door just past the landmark is closed again.
The chest won't always have tier 3 I've seen low lvl weapons pop up as well as tier 2 schematics pop. Takes time, I've gotten 1 rare tier 3 and some tier 3 schematics for my companion party members
sithous Yeah they wound up fixing an exploit that was allowing people to loot an infinite number of the Amulet of Power. The contents of the chests respawning feel less like an exploit to me and more like an actual intended game mechanic...
Haha I see, yeah I just recently on my 3rd playthourgh started collecting several amulets of power for Cassandra and collected several healing amulets from the fallow mire keep inside the locked door because I used to sold them for a good price. So basically this is what they "fix" because it's more like breaking it than fixing for me hehe. However as you say, I can keep going back to some tier 3 chests to farm some schematics even after patch 5. Thanks for the reply and the work put on the collection videos thanks to those I managed to get everything on my 3rd run wich I was always leaving with one or two things left to collect in my previous playthroughs. I wasn't even aware of the Veridict sword and I did found Evanura in one of the trees and graves near the elven ruin.
When you get the the Temple of Mythal (your main story quest leads you here) you wind up with an option to solve 3 large floor puzzles to get through a door OR drop down a hole in the floor and skip the floor puzzles to bypass the door. IIRC dropping down the hole in the floor leads you to an area where you will find the schematic for the keeper robes. If you choose to solve the floor puzzles you miss it. If you just want the robes, you get them from killing a dragon in the Hissing Wastes.

Yeah when that stuff is random, it's a bitch. Have you checked out in the Hissing Wastes? There is a vendor down in the V-shaped canyon in the central part of the map... the dog vendor. He sells a number of pre-made armor add-ons. He may not necessarily sell you the schematic, but if you're just looking for the item because of its look and feel you might want to check him out.
Once you do get it... MAKE SURE you go back to Skyhold and synch up with the Golden Nug statue. That way you never have to farm for it again in a future playthrough. It will always be available to you. There is a specific set of Hunter armor arms and legs that I love and I always had to farm for them. However, once the Nug got put into the game that madness ended. Just a little tip that you might not have known about. Thanks for watching Dragon!

Been a while but IIRC it will actually say Superior. That's how it shows up on the crafting screen.

No tier 3 appeared in that chest for me, guessing it's because of my level, i'm lv 15
The Hollster It's not a guaranteed drop. That's why you need to farm those chests. If they showed up everytime, it would just be cheating. :)

The chest won't always have tier 3 I've seen low lvl weapons pop up as well as tier 2 schematics pop. Takes time, I've gotten 1 rare tier 3 and some tier 3 schematics for my companion party members

sithous Yeah they wound up fixing an exploit that was allowing people to loot an infinite number of the Amulet of Power. The contents of the chests respawning feel less like an exploit to me and more like an actual intended game mechanic...
Haha I see, yeah I just recently on my 3rd playthourgh started collecting several amulets of power for Cassandra and collected several healing amulets from the fallow mire keep inside the locked door because I used to sold them for a good price. So basically this is what they "fix" because it's more like breaking it than fixing for me hehe. However as you say, I can keep going back to some tier 3 chests to farm some schematics even after patch 5. Thanks for the reply and the work put on the collection videos thanks to those I managed to get everything on my 3rd run wich I was always leaving with one or two things left to collect in my previous playthroughs.
I wasn't even aware of the Veridict sword and I did found Evanura in one of the trees and graves near the elven ruin.

Can someone please help me I'm looking for the schematic to the keepers robes.
When you get the the Temple of Mythal (your main story quest leads you here) you wind up with an option to solve 3 large floor puzzles to get through a door OR drop down a hole in the floor and skip the floor puzzles to bypass the door. IIRC dropping down the hole in the floor leads you to an area where you will find the schematic for the keeper robes. If you choose to solve the floor puzzles you miss it. If you just want the robes, you get them from killing a dragon in the Hissing Wastes.

Yeah when that stuff is random, it's a bitch. Have you checked out in the Hissing Wastes? There is a vendor down in the V-shaped canyon in the central part of the map... the dog vendor. He sells a number of pre-made armor add-ons. He may not necessarily sell you the schematic, but if you're just looking for the item because of its look and feel you might want to check him out.
MrCodeslinger Thx. I'm currently running the Farm areas. I figure that I can't get the same schematic again so my chances might be improving.
Once you do get it... MAKE SURE you go back to Skyhold and synch up with the Golden Nug statue. That way you never have to farm for it again in a future playthrough. It will always be available to you. There is a specific set of Hunter armor arms and legs that I love and I always had to farm for them. However, once the Nug got put into the game that madness ended. Just a little tip that you might not have known about. Thanks for watching Dragon!
