Chiodos was such a big part of my life through high school back in 2000's. Craig's beautiful face belongs on that Mt. Rushmore for sure
Same here! 😢 nostalgia
He's too humble to say it but yeah I agree
mine too. me and my best friend started a band back in 2009 and chiodos was a huge inspiration.
For Craig Owens to be that humble is both awesome and insane. Another great guest and another great episode.
When I saw the name Craig owens I immediately clicked lol
Real.
Ditto
Much love from Flint Michigan!!! Chiodos stomping ground Flint Local 432
Craig is such a good dude. I remember when Chiodos reunited and came over to Antwerp Belgium. They played this tiny venue while he was sick AF and still banged out a great set, afterwards talked a while about what was going on with DRUGS and the issues vocalists have with touring during the winter months and stuff. Great to see he’s still loving the whole scene.
As a Craig Owens fan girl, this is my favorite END podcast yet.
Craig owens got me into a chiodos show for free and vip with august burns red before they both blew up. I saw him smoking outside of the knitting factory in nyc and told him we were there to see chiodos but they sold out. He called his road manager over and we skipped the line and watched them front standing area. He was so rad.
Great comments for Matt and Gavin. Thanks for keeping the community going 🖤
The first time I met Craig was at Warped tour. The nicest guy ever!
Same! Warped Tour 2007!
I actually saw craig owens at warped tour once. I think at the time they only had one album out and he was actually super approachable. I remember talking to him for a few minutes and he said he had to get back to his merch tent and I was like oh that's cool and he was like no walk with me and we walked and talked a little more. I mean I'm sure it was a small thing for him but it meant a lot to me
Man...Matt, you are genuinely great at hosting a podcast, interviewing your guest, and prompting great stories throughout the interview. Please never stop doing this.
That ending and the confirmation to Matt’s hard work in front of the camera 😓 and let’s not forget about Gavin’s work behind the scenes and also being the worlds horniest podcaster and everyone else bts at the end that affirmation had to make you feel good keep up the awesome job E.N.D. Crew ! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
MUCH respect to Gavin. He works so hard non stop behind the scenes to keep the brand alive 🖤
I didn’t know this podcast even existed!
Anthony from Bayside, Matt from Alkaline, Mark from Blink, and John Nolan from TBS/Justin Pierre from Motion City Soundtrack/Max Bemis. The 4th spot is virtually impossible to pick.
You nailed this one.
To mix it up a bit from yours I will go
Dan Adriano(alkaline trio), Chris Conley(saves the day), Jesse Lacey(Brand New), Max Bemis(Say anything)
Matt Pyror of the get up kids as well. Nolan, Anthony, and Justin Pierre were all just as influential on me, though!
@@RiggedandReady Totally agree with Dan and Chris and I loved Brand New but I met Jesse twice after shows and he was such a dic* both times. So no room for him on Mount Rushmore lol.
@rlnerd I've actually seen all of the bands we mentioned except for Brand New. I've heard of shitty things about Lacey, but Brand New was really special to me in my teenage years. So much so that I can't even really listen to them anymore, so played out.
Cheers!
@@RiggedandReady Me too. Also how the hell did we both forget Chris Carraba, no matter how you feel about Dashboard. He's a GOAT candidate. Screaming Infidelities and Radio from Alkaline started me down this 22 year EMO journey. Haha.
Dank choices! ❤
20 year anniversary tour lets go!!!
Loved this episode! It's inspiring to hear Craig talk about his experiences and philosophies. I'm happy to see him rising back up in the scene and can't wait to catch him live soon. He'll always be on my "Mount Rushmore" - most of my comfort music lies in his voice, from Chiodos to CinSun, and his collaborations with other musicians in the late 00s (Isles & Glaciers, TSoAF, early DRUGS, Broadway). Limiting my "Mount Rushmore" to frontmen, and strictly talking about those whose music influenced me the most, it would have to be Craig, Anthony, Shane Told, and Jesse Lacey.
One of my favorite memories is seeing Chiodos live for free outside of the Cleveland Rock & Roll HoF in 2007, the day before Warped Tour. It was also right before BPB released, and I remember being blown away by Teeth The Size of Piano Keys, The Words "Best Friend" Become Redefined, and The Undertaker's Thirst for Revenge is Unquenchable at the show. Chiodos didn't get to play at Warped the next day because it rained on their keyboard (pretty sure that's what Craig told my friend at their merch tent), so I felt super grateful for the surprise show the day before.
Fu#$, I forgot Gerard till Craig just mentioned him. Mt. Rushmore needs 8 spots not 4.
I saw the yellowcard, mayday parade, story of the year hometown show in Jacksonville. So mega. The cruise line up and shows are going to be incredible
Another podcast where my preconceived thoughts of a guess are completely shattered, and I come out the other side, loving the interview. Craig really brought a huge sense of humility and being humble for such a giant staple of Emo. Loved it.
Me and my buds were just talking about chiodos over dinner last night! What a coincidence!
Matt - I hope you take Craig’s words at the end to heart. You really are killing it! This community loves you and what you’ve done for us.
For season two (and I hope there is a season two) of the podcast, I wonder if you would consider chatting with author Chris Payne. I just finished reading his book “Where Are Your Boys Tonight” focusing on the emo scene from 1999-2008. It was an amazing read and I think you two would have some awesome conversation!
Loved this - craig has influenced me forever with how humble and amazing he is. Died at the mushroom story "just fear" 😂
Craig is my absolute favorite! I find that as the years go on and on he remains my number 1. He’s so kind and loving and open always. I’ve always been amazed at him. He always gets my money. Ps: Craig, vol 1 is incredible. Made me cry so much. So beautiful ❤
Oh snap 🫰 I just ordered his upcoming vinyl last week !
Get Claudio Sanchez next! Coheed and Cambria just did a tour off their new album.
For me, what got me into "emo" or "Scene", the four who got me into it would be.
1. Shane Told (Silverstein)
2. Bert McCracken (The Used)
3. Dallas Taylor (Underoath)
4. Nate Barcalow (FINCH)
Man... If Craig told me to my face that I was killing it, that would set my soul a blaze lol! Keep up the hard work guys!
Matt, I just met your mom outside of Ikea in Portland. She was freaking out over me wearing your shirt and shorts. Lovely lady!
I watched this whole thing. It was a great show. More please!
Thank you Craig for all your amazing music! Nothing but love 👊🏻
No Hardcore Dancing in the Emo’s Not Dead Living Room
Ayyy I always wondered if the name chiodos was related to killer klowns. Fuck yeah I love the origin story
🔥💜 great episode Craig’s the best !
I loved the little "Gavin the Podcast Star" gag you came up with on the fly lol.
Also in the description you mentioned how "we say goodbye to season one", so I'm curious to see what's gonna happen next in season two!
Congrats on the new tittle to Gavin - podcast star
Brother, make a video with Mayday Parade!
I’m still praying for a used collab with Craig Owens 😭😭😭🥺❤️❤️
more love for thrice!! would love to see Dustin Kensrue as a guest
Who won the cruise tickets? Not me i guess :( i guess I'll go back to my darkness...^^
Me likey 😮 this episode 🖤 🖤!!!!!
Wow love the thrice shoutout. They’re the GOAT
Denying this day didn't stop it from coming...
I've been waiting for this! ❤
When I was a young boy Craig told me that one day women would all become monsters... turns out he was right! 🤟
Stop reading and start doing pushups! Motivation at 11
I remember donating blood with Music Saves Lives to get backstage passes for Warped Tour and was so exciting to be on stage during CinSun 😂😂
I love how bothered Gavin is that the cruise is now just a "stop" on the YC tour. Not gonna lie, seeing their show this summer makes me feel a little better about not winning the cruise cabin 😊.
When are we going to get more colors in the signature tee? No joke my favorite shirt, fits perfectly. I NEED MORE
We have multiple color options of the Venue Tee which is the same shirt just without the embroidery!
This gonna be a good one
Craig was every 2000s emo kids sexual awakening
I would loooove if ya could get Bonnie Fraser from Stand Atlantic, since they’re with the resurgence, orrrr Save Face!
What an episode 🥹🖤
I have been waiting for this one!!!!!!🎉🎉🎉🤘
I have that same issue. DRUGS 15 min from my house. The used and dead American 2 hours. Already planned on the used trip. But if that doesn’t happen I get to see DRUGS again. Hate when my favs are here at the same time
Craig should find the wizard of Monroe a few miles south of his house and get a mushroom trip with them.
It'd be the spiritual enlightenment he lost out on in the city of sin.
Also hi if END sees this I’m from the band Knockinng on The Coffin Door I think we have commented before but Hiii :D
I NEED HIM SO BAD 😭
Oh my gawd
Hi Matt! now that September is here, is the album gonna be released this Friday or on September 22nd. Can’t wait to hear it! :)
_Let's just stop, drop everything._ I grew up with former D.R.U.G.S. bassist, Tai Wright. My personal lame claim to fame lol I fucking love Craig Owens. Chiodos was goat.
this is great!
For me, The Cure was there first…. That was why emo ended up grabbing me the way it did, because it was continuation of not just the aesthetic, but the emotional and artistic content that The Cure pioneered. Nobody wrote more romantically tortured lyrics than Robert Smith. He is the Godfather of Emo, no doubt.
For some reason, the New Romantic element of what is now known as “ scene” fashion, you just don’t hear given its proper recognition . It’s in that department, you have bands like Duran Duran & Culture Club that were as “ Emo” as it gets.
As far as oversaturation of shows, I feel it in my town. Last week, there was at least one big time show each weeknight and I live in a city that a lot of bands use as a rest stop. There's only so much money and lost sleep to go around.
Jordan Blake, Craig Owens, Anthony Green, Shane Told...
Glassjaw is was got me into all this tbh.
Jawbreaker is probably one of the firtst emo bands
PLEASE COME TO THE MIAMI CRUISE!!! 🙏🙏🖤❤️🖤❤️
WE ARE A WHOLE ASS STRONG COMMUNITY! I wish I could experience Baby, You Wouldn’t Last A Minute On The Creek for the first time again. I can’t even imagine how I’d feel!
EMO 😢❤❤❤
everyone where I'm from definitely always called them "key-oh-dos"
EMO LIVES FOREVER
not including oliver sykes in the scene king thing is odd lol
If it wasnt for robert smith there would be no davey havok ❤
illumination was so Goated
I’m 25 rn and I’ve been listening to Chiodos and drugs since I was 12 y/o or so, and they’ve been on my top favourite bands since. Congrats on this podcast it is so good and interesting and thank u for bringing Craig Owens he’s a legend, I admire him so much🖤
Anyone know if any of the other members of chiodos are in any new bands?
Are these not happening anymore???
The cure🖤🦇
Ugh HES such a cutie pie 😩😩😩
🖤🖤🖤
DOES ANYONE KNOW THE SONG IN THA INTRO? i neeeeeed it!!!!
One time i made Craig in a UFC character creator and he liked my photo on IG.
Max stats?
Woahhhhhhh
Laughing at the Chiodos pronunciation... Chiodo is an Italian last name and it's legit pronounced like KEY-odo. Rarely hear it said correctly though, everyone goes with "Chee-odo"
Get a skit with I set my friends on fire .
All I can think about is that Les Paul on the table....please get a neck rest, i cant avert my eyes, its painful. Clearly fine, just a trigger from terrible experiences lol.
NO I LOVE EXPENSIVE CONVERSATIONS
Hayley Williams definitely deserves to be a part of the mount rushmore of the scene!!!
Bring on some new artists that were into emo music or that were influenced by it. It will bring an audience from all kinds of generations
Edm kids love high energy music. Hardcore music is high energy. Concerts are crazy fun with lots of dancing. Rap concerts are lame. No one moves
😯😯
lol
