Hello beautiful people. we are aware Incas are not technically a Meso American civ, but it's just an aoe2 term for them due to their extreme similarity to the 2 meso civs in the game
I will try to use my influence to convince hera to call all 3 of them American civs in the videos from now on 11 (no promises tho xD)

You also have the option of phrasing it as "of the americas", but being more than one word and "meso" being so short, it is hard to beat :P Another option is "new world civ".

Add to the mix: Incas have an amazing team bonus now. The free llama is very useful, especially for Chinese allies.
5:20 correction, thefood bonus isnt the only bonus they get. they get + 1 atk on slinger with ut, lhamas for teammates in teamgames, also a few other changes that i cant remember.

Surely Aztecs have the least problems from missing cavalry because they strong monks convert stables to produce xolotl warriors.
Incas get cheaper spermanline,so you can mix some with your eagles "for free"
Xolotls are just a waste of res. You can't upgrade then nor their armor. The only reason you make xolotl warriors is to clown.

Don't forget the +1 pierce armor for jaguars and +1 attack for slingers. It's quite massive.

Literally the only unit unaffected by the food discount are archers. Even if you aren't trying, you will end up using the bonus.
Most siege too, but you shouldn't have lots of them.

How do I play meso civs? which one is the easiest (mos straight forward)?
Incas are the most straight forward. U play them similar to any other civ but u have no cavarly. Instead make use of eagle warriors for mobility, or just fight in 1 big army with not much raiding

Mayans fell off when they lost obsidian arrows. I've been all in on Inca since then.
mayans have been a tier S civ since forever. Obsidian arrows was a broken tech given to an extremely powerful civ

If you have a meso matchup and you are Incas, can't you just go full Slingers+Siege? They hold their own against Xbow/Arbs, especially with Siege behind. What can mayans or aztecs do against that combi?

Aztecs could go monks, I imagine. Slingers won't have the range or the base attack to kill tanky Aztec monks before they get converted.
Do inca's xoltl warriors are affected by food discount bonus? Would that make incas the best cav mezo civ?

The Kamayuks are good against infantry too with 2 lines attacking simultaneously (earlier)... then especially with them being NOT of the Spear-Line they don't take extra damage from Cav Archers/Mangudai especially with Parthian Tactics. Even after that you can then add that they'll have 6 pierce armour and you're golden against anything from Mongols to Magyars with even more efficiency/cost reductions than them (12/80 food cost for the latter's light-cav line is still only 15% - which is the base food savings of all Incan military units in Dark Age).
they struggle against teutonic knights really badly i fought a guy who had like 40 kamayuks so i made 15 teutonic knights and it was game lol
@@donjoncraig6804 Yes yes, it should take slingers to kill them in no time however. Only something like Dravidians could handle it in direct melee or the Leitis perhaps too of course... then ranged units.
It's all situational, but I think if I had to pick one of them no matter what, I think it would be Mayans. The health bonus to the Eagles, the longer lasting gold, and cheaper archer line which is really easy to abuse.
Incas are more versatile, but Mayans excel with particular units.

I'm willing to say that the food bonus the Incas get can come into play early when defending, which is in keeping with their versatile/defensive typing.

It is unfortunate for Daut because he was the clear number one throughout the 2000s and the number of tournaments then compared to now were much fewer and smaller.

Incas are also a strong choice in team games, since in my opinion their free llama team bonus is one of the best team bonuses in the game.
Even after all the changes, it's still Mayans then Aztecs then Incas. You can still defeat Incas early with a powerful push before the food discount kicks in. Aztecs have the most powerful timing attack with early imp garland wars eagles. Mayans have the most consistent pressure with archers and plumes, they're still difficult to deal with even when you know they're coming. Incas are now a lot more consistent with the food discount, you aren't punished as heavily for making the wrong units. And Incas do have an advantage against Aztecs and Mayans because of how centralized all of these civs are around the eagle, and Incas have the slinger. They all have them as a replacement for mobility, they all have an imp UT that boosts them, and aside from Aztecs they also have them as a general replacement for the militia line as well. Incas not getting supplies or gambesons really makes the militia line, after a MAA opening, look pretty bad next to eagles and especially kamayuks. And Mayans don't get champion, and +40hp on eagles.
dont forget that scorpions are also cheaper now. thats another hit on meso civs imo
They are about the same now (high A tier/S tier) with Incas being more versatile, Mayans best archer, and Aztecs with strong infantry.

as someone who has been a huge fan of the Incas for a long time now, this is the most redeeming feature of the new patch.
They're all great, incas are the most versatile, aztecs and mayans are too one dimensional for me

Meso means middle. Incan is in the South America so it is not a meso civ.
