    the Derby Canal was closed in 1964, but the restoration plan has made decent progress including restoring bridges and locks and clearing overgrown vegetation, this has been an active campaign for restoration by the Derby and Sandiacre Canal Trust and others

    I do like to hear of canals being restored, as it’s part of our heritage. It’s a shame they had to start again with the undergrowth tho. It’s mad to think they were still used as “recently” as the 1960s. I watched the film the Bargee starring Harry H Corbett and Ronnie Barker a couple of years ago (on YT), it gives a humorous take on the last days of coal being delivered by canal.

      oh right not seen that, two of Englands iconic comedians, i usually prefer older history but this was a nice walk and interesting, i usually watch Gareth Ike's The Walk on YT which has got me into more recent stuff👍
