This hill is only a few miles from me. I’ve been to the Raven Pub but never visited the hill. I’ll have to check it out 😮😂❤
hope you enjoy the view, it often the case of not knowing what is on your doorstep hey
I love your take on this 😊
thanks
I feel your videos would greatly enhance history teaching in schools 😊
They dont seem to teach anything pre-Roman in schools over here, i remember a brief mention of cavemen using stone tools and hunting mammoths, everything else was about kings and queens or the two wars, can't remember learning anything about the Saxon invasion or even the Vikings so i didn't enjoy history lessons, i didn't know stone circles existed till 15 yrs after leaving when i discovered Castle rig by accident on holiday. But thanks for the compliment, you may be right, anything would enhance it😅
@@Traveler13 I think I was lucky, my primary school taught us about the Bronze & Iron Ages and Asterix books filled in the gaps lol!
Cool can’t wait.
hope you enjoy
I believe the name Brinklow is an Anglo Saxon distortion, through mispronunciation, of the name BrynLlew or BrynLleu....Bryn (ancient Brythonic/Welsh word for hill) and ancient God Llew or Lleu as in Llew Llaw Gyffes. I've been visiting the site since early childhood, there used to be 5, then 3, old dead Elm trees on the top that were set fire to, and then subsequently removed. As to 'ghost' stories of sightings of figures wearing Victorian era clothing, I used to wear a Top hat and tailcoats in the 70's and 80's, just a thought.
Good old 70s fashion hey, ye could be something as simple as that😄 i do remember reading about an Anglo Saxon distortion name since i did the video yes👍
@@Traveler13 I consider it as my own theory since I haven't seen/read it elsewhere
Amazing stuff. Thank you for sharing. Glad they are restoring canals as at one point these served as such an important part of history.
Glad you enjoyed it, a bit slow on views this one but enjoyed filming it and they are or were important for the industrial rev.... just saw another video about the derby canal covering the upper part funny enough
Should get your dates correct. K. John reigned 1199 to 1216. That's not the mid 11th century or anywhere close to it.
Sorry mr pedantic
Interesting. I’ll have to visit. Great video👍🍻
Well worth the visit👍

thanks for watching
its amazing, nice one
Glad you think so!
Thank you for sharing this great footage
Glad you enjoyed it
A nice and interesting visit, a great looking place!
It really is! thanks
I do like to hear of canals being restored, as it’s part of our heritage. It’s a shame they had to start again with the undergrowth tho. It’s mad to think they were still used as “recently” as the 1960s. I watched the film the Bargee starring Harry H Corbett and Ronnie Barker a couple of years ago (on YT), it gives a humorous take on the last days of coal being delivered by canal. Nice vid👍
oh right not seen that, two of Englands iconic comedians, i usually prefer older history but this was a nice walk and interesting, i usually watch Gareth Ike's The Walk on YT which has got me into more recent stuff👍
Very interesting it would be great if they got that area cleared and with all the history to go with it. Be a good place to visit. Thanku
Yes agreed, hope they get it done in the near future
WHICH Robin Hood? There were many of them, as many rebels, outlaws etc traditionally took the name Robin and often Hood as well. The reason the Robin Hood legends don't seem to match is they're about several different people.
Dont i mention that later in the video?
@@Traveler13 Yes. I hadn't got to that part when I commented..
@@TheRealRedAce Ah cool👍
The historical significance of Ockbrook and its connection to early Christianity in England is truly remarkable. Exploring places like All Saints' Church really brings history to life!
Ockbrook has such a fascinating history! It's amazing to think about how the All Saints' Church has roots going back to the 7th century. 👍
thank you for wathing
I love learning about these historical sites and their connections to ancient England. 😃
i do, the research is so enjoyable
The fact that the church may have been built on a pagan worship site adds so much depth to the area's story.
it does, yes
Having recently moved to Borrowash, it's incredible to discover the rich history right next door in Ockbrook.
i have only been here a few weeks, worth the exploration
A few of us visited the druid wood one summer evening, one of my friends was taking photos of us by the well and the stone and the camera picked up dozens of orbs, we could not believe our eyes when we saw them on the way home in the car! Definitely lots of spiritual energy, you can feel it, thanks for covering this, really interesting 😊
It does have serious energy, i had read a few things about the site so had to see it for myself, thanks for the confirmation and glad you enjoyed it
They came, They saw, They conquered ! They never left !!!

The poison reign (U2) of a Roman Catholic Empress/Emporer in a Christian Protestant Country !!! Rolling Stones : "She never said where She came from Yesterday don't matter if it's gone" * History don't matter if it's erased 🤔
Not so hidden now is it......
just love sarcasm😃

I had no idea Ockbrook had such a rich history! The blend of Christian and pagan roots at All Saints' Church is fascinating. This video has inspired me to visit and explore the village myself.
go for it if you get the chance
ello friends good video
thanks
nice vid, thanks for sharing

I recently visited Ockbrook, and learning about its history makes it even more special. The fact that All Saints' Church might have been built on a pagan site shows how deep the roots of this village go.
glad you enjoyed it, hope the visit was pleasant
The connection between Ockbrook and Borrowash adds another layer of depth to this historic village.
it does
Excellent 😎
Thank you! Cheers!
nice one, loved it
Glad you liked it
What an interesting look into Ockbrook's past! It's amazing to learn how the village has evolved over the centuries, with All Saints' Church standing as a testament to its enduring history
glad you enjoyed it
Ockbrook's history is truly captivating. It's incredible how the church has been a part of the village since the early Christian settlers arrived.
ITS an interesting village
great video, thanks
You are welcome!
What a fascinating history! It's amazing to think that All Saints' Church has roots going back to the 7th century.
it is, could have been a site of importance even longer
wow nice one

There was a Moravian church & School in a village near where I grew-up. I looked similar in style. What was the word you used for the alleyway? Not heard that before.

I do love history. It's just amazing what you learn. That helps understand our ancestors. The architecture is beautiful and loved the story of the little boy. LOL drunk the pub dry LOL . I just love churches for that reason. Fascinating history here.
its an unusual story for sure, you like the idea of drinking the pub dry🤣😂not being religious i have ignored churches but partly due to u and others i now have a bigger appreciation of them, especially when they connect so far back with our ancestors💗
