@@projectJ30 Your Nissan is not a high strung naturally aspirated race car for the street that revs to 9000 RPM. Some motors are more sensitive to vacuum leaks than others. Some cars have no issues, some cars will start idling like it has a huge cam in it, and some wont idle at all.
A Nissan is a much tougher car than a Ferrari. A Nissan withstands anything you throw at it, whereas a Ferrari is much more sensitive to any little thing that goes a bit off the way

Oiling is not a problem with cold starts on this particular engine, but its internal resistance is high when the engine is cold due to very tight piston-to-cylinder tolerances, like its F1 brethren had as well, so it needs to be warmed up a bit until it has a sustainable idle speed.

Reving a cold car aouch! Noticed it was about to stall...uhmm sounds like a leak somewhere. You should check the compression of each cylinder. One or maybe several might have some leaks. This add more air than needed and prevent a normal combustion hence the stall at idle.

What's wrong is you should let it start by itself, no revs (no matter if it takes 2 or more tries, it's how those big old engines work). Him revving it so hard is what makes it unstable and tending to stall. It will eventually, and I'd love to see if - when it happens - he'll ever be able to fire it up again.

My 32 year old Nissan has a few vacuum leaks and idles rock steady @ 1500 on startup in any temperature.
