Turtle Watching in Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve, Ras Al Hadd, Oman

The green turtles found in Ras Al Hadd are one of many species of marine life that return to the shores of Oman to nest. Ras Al Jinz Scientific was completed in 2008 and is located on the Indian Ocean coast approximately 200km east of Muscat. The Reserve is within a 45km stretch of coastline that in 1996 was declared a "Reserve" by Royal Decree. The Reserve is a protected area with the specific aim of protecting sea turtles.

At Ras Al Jinz, the peak season for egg-laying is between June to September but throughout the year at least one turtle emerges from the sea into the beach to lay eggs
