- As a Foreigner living in Jakarta, I will in this Vlog show you 'The Real Jakarta'. It's not what you think - trying the MRT or shopping at Grand Indonesia. I believe the Real Jakarta lives in the small streets besides the big skyscrapers. I will be exploring Jakarta, as we visit the true heroes of this city! As we walk the streets of Kuningan, we meet a lot of friendly, Indonesian people that sell anything you can imagine. Street Food, motorcycles, sim cards, clothing and so much more.
I've made this video to inspire other foreigners to come here, see the local living conditions and show appreciation to their wonderful country and friendliness.

My country has lot of homeless and some neighborhood are wayyyy worst than this place in jakarta (especially in the north of Paris and Marseille, some neighborhood look really poorer and more dirty)

When i started to work back at 2005, my office was in sudirman, i stayed in kost behind the building. The life was pretty much like what you show. If you check you may find lots of people working in those tall building stay there. Foids are way cheaper than in supermarket.And Kris....dont call elderly with kamu...😄, it just not polite.you can just call them bapak/ibu.

Depends on how and why one goes to a foreign country - regardless of whether the country is in Asia, Middle East, Europe or America and regardless of where you come from.
If you go to study at a university, you are a student. If you go to take up an executive or a managerial post, you are an expatriate.
But unfortunately overwhelming majority of those who go to rich developed countries (North America, West Europe, Australia, NZ, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong), often illegally, are uneducated workers from poorer countries, hence the "immigrant" stigma.
Also note that in developed countries, meritocracy, know-how, plays a important role in a person's career than know-who of our society. Hence over there capable foreigners could become CEOs of major multinationals: many did such as Indian Sunder Pichai CEO of Alphabet/Google, Indian Satya Nadella CEO of Microsoft, Iranian Dara Khosrowshahi CEO of Uber, Malaysian Tan Hock Eng CEO of Broadcom, just to name a few. Could you imagine Indonesia lallowing foreigners to become CEO of Telkom, Pertamina, Garuda...?

Jakarta is crowded, many people comes from another city even islands. more people come, more problem. less people sometime better in cleanliness and easy to control.

"if you go to jakarta, you'll be rich"

because they're not poor. if you have nice two stories home in jakarta it's far from poor. In indonesia below poverty line is if you make 450k rupiah ($31) a month, thats not enough to rent small home.
