6:18 That was Easter. If knowing right the reason why we dupm water to the girls, because the girls are pretty like flowers and we dont want to droop/fade them. So we water them :D
"Kocsonya" is not fat jello. It's a meat soup that has a jelly-like texture. Yes, it contains parts of the pig like skin pieces, ear, tail and the end of the leg with the nails, but it is cooked very well. You need these parts for the soup, because they are containing collagen and the collagen gives the soup its texture. So it is a soup that once is cooled becomes jelly-like. And it also contains meat. I do not like the pig ear and legs, but I love the soup itself. This type of dish can be found also in many European countries like Germany, France, in slavik-speaking countries and in Russia and Korea as well.
I stopped at the first two things, cause they're not weird Hungarian habits, they're pretty common in most of Europe. Ice water is sooo American. You can have water from the fridge or room temperature, no need to add ice unless you're in the desert. Went to NY, asked for a Coke, it was 90% ice, I thought it was just a way to give you less Coke 😅
In the US people keep sucking their noses instead of blowing it. It's pretty disgusting when you hear the slurping and sucking of the buggers in a library. I prefer the Hungarian way.
blood sausage is really good and if it's a god quality it has no bones just rice and meat :) The jelly like food is kocsonya, it's really good but they can fr sure put weird things in it, it's the best with plain meet .
The "don't sit on cold benches" rule roots from an old misconception that people thought that some urinary tract infections were caused by sitting on cold object. There is an other typically Hungarian misconception that many people still believe that Calcium helps when you have allergic reactions for wasp stings. Even some doctors still believe in this myth. This roots from the fact that decades ago there was a medicine which had similar name and contained some antihistamin too so that was good against allergic reactions.
Actually almost all nations or coungries have these food. E.g. "hurka" has two main different types. One is a blood sausage, which the English, the French, the Spanish so have and is even a staple of traditional Louisianan cuisine. The other type is with liver, and it is basically haggis, only made from pig and not sheep :) "Kocsonya" is not "fat jelly". It is basically a soup made from highly gelatinous (and not _fatty_), tasty parts of a pig and with smoked meat also - and served cold. If you heated a Kocsonya, you would get a nice strong....ramen. Only add noodles to it.
Hurka is not sausage (kolbász). Kolbász is from meat, but Hurka is from leftovers from the pig slaughter. The little white thing in there was probably not well cooked rice, as we don't usually put bones in it. You should try hurka when you come to Hungary, but from the countryside, and ask before for the good places, as it is pretty easy to make it bad. Southern-eastern part you can't really mishit, they are good (Békés county is the best 🙌)
#7 4:28 - Kocsonya is not an "onlyin Hungary" thing Aspic is a delicacy in many countries from Japan, Korea to Belgium and Denmark #8 6:14 - Germany style toilettes have this, I don't like them either, luckily most newly built places have the good old English style.
9:30 There are people who don't celebrate name days but celebrate birthdays, there are who celebrate both and the rare ones who only celebrate name days. I don't know of people who don't celebrate either but there is definetly some
There are 2 kinds of hurka. The blood one and the liver one. The liver one is more tastier so I recommended. I also hate blood hurka even though I'm Hungarian myself. And about kocsonya, alot people don't like it so we understand. My dad loves kocsonya lol And of course on the north it's always very cold And also our grammar can be weird for foreign people and for us Hungarians we have so many words and we can combine them so Hungarian is a good language. And like we always say: száz szónak is egy a vége; Hungary is just beautiful (despite the cigerettesy pigeons and VIII. Kerület) it is just beautiful!
You had the bad luck to a bad cook! Hurka is really delicious if it is well done. Bones in hurka should not occure. Don’t eat there if you visit them again.
Liver hurka is more better for me... Its really funny, the kocsonya is how strange for all of them. But the last young man... he learned the "megszentségteleníthetetlenségeskedéseitekért" is wow! Respect!
Yes there is a rule of names but it does change every year, so they approve new names and they allow foreign names transformed to Hungarian pronunciation like "Jennifer - Dzsennifer". So if you want to give your child a name that is not in the book then you can request it and some linguists will check if that it is a real name (exists in other country or in literature) If it has no Hungarian version yet they can approve it and add it in a Hungarian form to the list. They make mistakes sometimes for example they added "Elladan" from Lord of the Rings but screwed up the pronunciation and made it "Elládán" (made both "a" sounds long). The gypsy minority of the last few decades very often chooses non-Hungarian names that they take from TV-shows, football-stars etc and there is a tendency of parents choosing western names too to make their children look "special".
If it was black, it was probably Blood hurka. And I'm gonna take a guess and say it was probably old and dry too...gotta eat fresh, man. edit: like i said, I was right, he just said it after I left the comment lol
If you were picking bones out of your teeth, you had a bad hurka.
6:18 That was Easter. If knowing right the reason why we dupm water to the girls, because the girls are pretty like flowers and we dont want to droop/fade them. So we water them :D
What?? Other countries dont blow their nose? Wtf

I love hurka! Comes either with blood, or liver. If it's made well, there are no bones in it!!
Nagy Véres hurka nagy erekkel mi....
Love hungary from vienna
Magyarok kezeket fel!!!!!!
Its really funny watching this as a hungarian xd..
Did the woman at the 12th fact , just talk about staying outside in the cold too long and getting frostbite? Why include it?
"I was up north. Super cold" 😂😂😂😂😂😂 oh honey

Love Hungary from Cambodian ❤️
I just realised how weird our easter traditions are XD
Interesting video. We didn’t understand why going to a thermal bath is considered a crazy thing that you’d only find in Hungary.
At half of these I was like: Wait so we're the only ones who do that?
I love it how they say "Néni" (means old lady) and "Bácsi" (means old man)
I Love Fruit Soup Love From Japan!🍇🍓🫐
Blowing your nose take 10 seconds, snuffling goes on and on and on....
You know how annoying it is when someone is constantly sniffling? Just blow your nose! :D yeah, and I don't like hurka either, kocsonya neither.
I'm married to a Hungarian and it's really interesting to watch videos like this one. ♥️
Love from Romania 🇷🇴❤🇭🇺
Blood sausage? WOW. he did not know that it is called black pudding in English.
blood sausage is really good and if it's a god quality it has no bones just rice and meat :) The jelly like food is kocsonya, it's really good but they can fr sure put weird things in it, it's the best with plain meet .
Hurka can be disgusting if the quality is not there.
We cooked in my in laws yard the last year we were visiting!! Loved it! And some pálinka!
Hurka isn't sausage, it's kind of black pudding

That's so true! I was prescribed calcium in Hungary after I swelled up massively after a wasp sting and it didn't go down after a few days 😂

Its fun to hear people's opinion about your country
I never ate hurka with bones. Good prepared hurka is typical winter food and delicious.
For the red dressed blond women. When your chicken soup becomes kocsonya you did something well.
Hurka is not sausage (kolbász). Kolbász is from meat, but Hurka is from leftovers from the pig slaughter. Some things that are normal for us aren't normal for other countries and it blows my mind😂
I love blood sausage! Just had some last week!
Maybe he should have tried a hurka not from gypsies. Anyway hurka is really very sensitive , I don't eat just the one which I made! :)
I love Hungary so much
Májas hurka/liver sausage is pretty much black pudding, just as in Scotland.
Chicken paprikas is the best ❤️
it's just so funny to wach this as a hungarian. :D

0:30 I always put ice in my drink AND I'm HUNGRIAN
Hurka is similar to black puding in England
We have ice water lol 😂
#6 hurka is the Black pudding in sausage shape
I had the Cherry Soup when I was there. Not nice. But I loved everything else especially the Palinka. 🇬🇧
Im Hungarian, hurka & kolbász is fantastic food, XD

🇭🇺Love Hungary
Hello beautiful, how are you doing today.
Awwww they are so cuteee
As an allergic hungarian, I'm the king of blowing nose. Not bragging, just saying.
I'm hungarian and this is quite accurate since it can be ok to do some things you said.
you had a bad hurka my friend. there shouldnt be parts of bones in it
You had the bad luck to a bad cook! Hurka is really delicious if it is well done. Bones in hurka should not occure. Don’t eat there if you visit them again.

Called murciana in Spain and in the Spanish speaking world. Are it in Argentina Panama etc. Blood sausage. Love it or hate it.
Blood sausage, made correctly, is amazing!
I really love "hurka" cuse i grow up on it.YUMMY
American proud to be part Hungarian 😅 woo
Hurka and kocsonya is so good
I'm Hungarian, and I like almost all dishes of our cuisine, but I don't eat kocsonya, hurka and fruit soup. :->
I'm Hungarian and I also hate hurka. :)
I’m the pickiest eater in the world. I love hurka
#5 is sour cherry soup . Not really called "fruit soup" but sure lol. Oh and yes definitely eaten cold.
In the hurka there is no bone to pick out so I don’t know what you were eating.
It’s funny how you can tell every single one of these are former Mormon missionaries 🤣 Nothing wrong with that
I'd like to see these peoples reactions eating Vegemite 😂😂😂😂
Hungary used to have a rule? No, they still do. There's a book of names you can choose from still but only that one book
Only the real hungarians love hurka. It's our food for some reason!😊
Not everybody loves blood sausage, but not everyone loves peanut butter and jelly sandwich either. I used to find it gross.
Its not the longest tho its only has 40-47 (verbs?) In it the longest has 56-60
Yeah, fruit soup is unique but it's because everything else has been spread out all over the world, like Goulash. Chicken Paprikash, etc...
The gelatin soup gives your joints the strenght.
I'm hungarian and i speak a little english.
My favorite food is cheese and majonéz on lángos!
They aren’t squat toilets? My airbnb doesn’t show the toilet, Im recovering from a broken pelvis- ugh
They are proper toilets, don't worry. Same as anywhere in Europe.
I'm Hungarian and i hate hurka too 😂😂😂so dont worry about it ( also im not a fun of kocsonya either) 😂😂😂
WOW thats all true xd I love kocsonya.
I'm Hungarian and I HATE véres hurka... I think its disgusting to eat sausage that contains blood
He looks like the kinda guy that would love fruit soup and hate Hurka.
Hurka is delicious my mom cooks it sometimes
I want to visit hungary, write me the most famouse dishes and places i should try
Than gelatin is kocsonya (kochonya)
Ha, ha, ha! Indeed, are these the craziest thigs in Hungary? I don't realize....😂🤔
"the buckets of water is much more fun" yeaaah... not for the girls...
We eat in hungary a lot of special sausage called fasz, its very tasty and creamy inside.
Naming your kids after the parents isn't really a thing in Hungary. It's called being lazy.
How's the toilet bowl not being full of water so different though?
I was thinking this had to be his first trip abroad. The toilets are the same as anywhere in Europe 🤷
The toilets have changed. Most are modern toilets now.
The blood hurka I think is from Germany.
What is your district in Hungary
The 7. is the "PORK CHEESE"- disznó sajt.
Very beautiful girl ids reporting about..
If it was black, it was probably Blood hurka. And I'm gonna take a guess and say it was probably old and dry too...gotta eat fresh, man.
edit: like i said, I was right, he just said it after I left the comment lol
