But that also helped me realize, yes, in my house things are also not all perfect, but improving over time. And that is both exiting and rewarding because to be honest: What would we ever do if our journey ended? Not a whole lot. Oh yes, and cleaning is so much easier when it isn't cluttered anymore. What keeps me motivated is the thought of having friends and familly over without having to tidy everything up for hours on end now but if there is a bit of a mess, it is done in 10 minutes or so. Oh yes, and my two cats prefer a decent place to live as well

I LOVE that portable washer! I've been looking for something like that for my boyfriends clothes. He works on trucks and comes home COVERED in grease. I have to fully clean our washer after the first wash on his work clothes. Adding that washer to my list!!! AND THAT LITTLE ROBOT THAT VACUUMS AND MOPS?!?! Omg. Just take all my money.
My mom taught me how to make the bed using that duvet “hack” 25 years ago, its the only way I know how to make a bed! So lovely to see someone else doing it ❤

Yes, I'm a night owl too, but tired also. Yet I find if I load up the dishwasher and clean the sink and counters before I go to bed, when I enter the kitchen in the morning I am much more motivated to start my day.
My husband bought the big house before I married him (4000 sq Ft. 😳). I do a couple of things. We have a cleaner every two weeks that cleans the main floors (carpets/tile/hardwood), kitchen and bathroom. For the rest of the house, I take it task by task. Not all rooms are used. When they are, I strip sheets and towels and tackle that. Rinse and repeat. Your channel and @ericalucas have been the two that inspired me the most. Declutter is the key!! Everything having a home is pivotal. Also, I don’t live in a show home. Some pieces are sentimental and some are functional or aesthetic. We still live there and I need to be able to walk around my house (my husband and dog too) and not feel like things can’t get untidy or chaotic. 🙂 I also write lists with realistic timelines. Keeps me from going crazy! 🙂

Little tip for the comforter hack: I lay out my comforter on my bed, then lay duvet cover over. Match up corners and tie them together. Then reach in to the duvet grabbing corners to flip inside out :) makes sure the comforter doesn’t move inside duvet
Love watching you clean and put things in their places. I have to say that I got a tip from you. I have a garden window that I've put colored glass, plants and things that I love. However, they were all jumbled together and looked cluttered and you couldn't see out the window! I noticed how you grouped things together in the kitchen and bath and so I put all my collections in groups of three, some stacked and now my eye is drawn to each individual stack and not the whole cluttered mess. It works! I only deleted a few pots that didn't have plants in them so the grouping of things freed up space and created a view to the outside.
I’m one of those sad people who irons there sheets, I did have a super king size bed, but my bedroom is really small so I got two separate beds from IKEA and put them next to each other that way I use matching single bedding on each and it’s easier to make. I’ve my side my husband has his side and it just like a big bed. British houses have small rooms, my house is very narrow so I’m constantly decluttering
For me, cleaning is relaxing. It helps especially when I'm stressed out. The chore become almost automatic, and I can let my brain think. Also, like, there's instant gratification - going from dirty to clean in like 30ish minutes if I don't get distracted. When I'm feeling upbeat, cleaning while listening to music is just so much fun. My dance skills suddenly become the best "talent" I have haha 😅 I also just like things in order and in place :-) (Edited to say: Except laundry hah!)
If you have any lemon essential oils it helps get sticky stuff off really good. OMG. Samson.. pointing at his food. My dog does that too, it's the cutest thing. He was making sure you didn't misunderstand him by pointing twice :) ha ha.
Carla, a tip to stop the mould forming on the grout in the shower - don’t pull the curtain all the way back to the wall (when open) leave a gap so the air can circulate.

have you tried the fly lady method for cleaning? i think the routines could really help .. i live in a small space and simply have to tidy or i cannot use my space anymore. what motivates me is knowing that as soon as i find a routine that really works, it is like automated and i dont have to think about it anymore while it always stays tidy

What motivates me to clean? Watching cleaning videos like yours! 😂 Although I now live in a 3-bedroom house, I find your content very relatable. I spent 20 years living in small older apartments without dishwashers or clothes washers. Finally, at one point I did get a portable washer similar to yours. It was a godsend, but yeah, still not as convenient as a full laundry setup. I did use a laundry service sometimes, and I found it very helpful. It was great for things like towels, bedlinens, socks, and jeans. Not so great for my nicer or more delicate clothes, because they just washed everything in powdered Tide and dried it on the hot setting. But it was lovely to just go and pick up the laundry all clean and folded.
Haha I’ve been doing the duvet hack since I was 16.. I did an internship at a nursing home and I had to change a bunch of beds, one of the nurses learned me how to change a duvet cover like that and I’ve been doing it ever since. I’m glad you finally figured it out :)
Duvet: the strings at the inside corners are used to tie the corners to the cover. you can also buy duvet cover clips. Consider purchasing a console for the back of the couch?
I used to be a cleaner and cleaned big houses. Even though I’ve decluttered so much, there’s other people living with me hence hard to stay on top of their mess. I think if I lived alone, I’d fare much better. But anyway, you asked how do people with big houses manage. The ones with less things, a place for everything are always tidier and easy to clean my way round. Those with too many things, it’s a pain for me to clean their house. It’s not the size of the house, it’s the size of the clutters they have that makes all the difference. Those with less things have beautiful homes, those more tends to look cluttered and dusty - even though the house is dusted!
You can wash plastic and fabric shower curtains/liners in the machine and it gets rid of that accumulated limescale etc. No need for a new one every time!! I had to learn this, so just passing that on… 😊

I was surprised to hear her call it a trick, that's just the way you do it, like you do with pillow cases. And it works even better if there's a second person pulling the cover in place while you hold the corners. Anyway a trick that works is rolling duvet and cover together and then unfold it, especially useful with larger duvets

When I use something I put It away as soon as I finish with it. It needs discipline but when you get the habit is fantastic. It is faster to clean that way.

Your apartment is adorable. I love the space. If your rent is affordable and you have a good landlord, perhaps he wouldn’t mind painting or giving you some paint to make touch ups. Sometimes our places just need a little cheering up with a fresh coat of paint. Our landlord lets us paint as long as we repaint before moving out to the basic beige. I color matched the same paint and just touch up the paint once the magic eraser doesn’t help anymore. It makes a world of difference.😊
My landlord won’t do anything. Not even basic repairs. But I do wanna see if I can color match by chipping off a piece of paint and taking it to Home Depot. Then I can just paint this corner myself :)
Again, love yourvideos so much! I love down comforters and down pillows, and for the time I went to an allergist, and found put I was very allergic to dust. I thought I was going to have to throw away all my down. My Dr told me to get hypoallergenic comforter covers and pillow covers. I had before had bad rashes and real issues breathing st night. This completely cured my congestion and skin issues. When u changed your duvet I saw a lot of dust, we all have this when changing a down duvet, I thought this might help! And I love that hack too!
Sorry (not sorry) but Samson has the most innocent face! His biggest crime is shedding fur but we can appreciate that he is consistently decluttering. He's an inspiration to us all!
In between my husband’s doctors appointments today, we went to several different thrift stores & other stores. Other than some grocery & cleaning supplies I didn’t buy anything else today. I’ve been into decluttering our house & organizing it, so nothing really looked appealing.

To remove the stickiness from the tile, use cooking oil on it and then wipe it off w/dry papertowe!

Duvet: the strings at the inside corners are used to tie the corners to the cover. you can also buy duvet cover clips. Consider purchasing a console for the back of the couch?

I used to be a cleaner and cleaned big houses. Even though I’ve decluttered so much, there’s other people living with me hence hard to stay on top of their mess. I think if I lived alone, I’d fare much better. But anyway, you asked how do people with big houses manage. The ones with less things, a place for everything are always tidier and easy to clean my way round. Those with too many things, it’s a pain for me to clean their house. It’s not the size of the house, it’s the size of the clutters they have that makes all the difference. Those with less things have beautiful homes, those more tends to look cluttered and dusty - even though the house is dusted!
You can wash plastic and fabric shower curtains/liners in the machine and it gets rid of that accumulated limescale etc. No need for a new one every time!!

I was surprised to hear her call it a trick, that's just the way you do it, like you do with pillow cases. And it works even better if there's a second person pulling the cover in place while you hold the corners. Anyway a trick that works is rolling duvet and cover together and then unfold it, especially useful with larger duvets

When I use something I put It away as soon as I finish with it. It needs discipline but when you get the habit is fantastic. It is faster to clean that way.

Your apartment is adorable. I love the space. If your rent is affordable and you have a good landlord, perhaps he wouldn’t mind painting or giving you some paint to make touch ups. Sometimes our places just need a little cheering up with a fresh coat of paint. Our landlord lets us paint as long as we repaint before moving out to the basic beige. I color matched the same paint and just touch up the paint once the magic eraser doesn’t help anymore. It makes a world of difference.😊
My landlord won’t do anything. Not even basic repairs. But I do wanna see if I can color match by chipping off a piece of paint and taking it to Home Depot. Then I can just paint this corner myself :)
Again, love yourvideos so much! I love down comforters and down pillows, and for the time I went to an allergist, and found put I was very allergic to dust. I thought I was going to have to throw away all my down. My Dr told me to get hypoallergenic comforter covers and pillow covers. I had before had bad rashes and real issues breathing st night. This completely cured my congestion and skin issues. When u changed your duvet I saw a lot of dust, we all have this when changing a down duvet, I thought this might help! And I love that hack too!

In between my husband’s doctors appointments today, we went to several different thrift stores & other stores. Other than some grocery & cleaning supplies I didn’t buy anything else today. I’ve been into decluttering our house & organizing it, so nothing really looked appealing.
