I am gutted after watching this video. Coming from an evangelical background, I was always told “we don’t know the name” of the woman at the well, or what happened to her. I feel so cheated. Of course God’s people knew her name! I am so upset that no pastor ever at least said, “according to non-canonical tradition, here’s the rest of the story….”, but the fact is they probably never knew this story, either! I’ve been a Christian for most of my life but I know nothing about the saints, or church history, which is to my shame. I can’t thank you enough for producing these videos. I’m really looking into Orthodoxy now.
God bless you! Be of good cheer, there are a LOT of beautiful things to discover. Don't feel shame though. There is no shame in not knowing what wasn't available to know. May God bless your journey of discovering Orthodoxy and the treasures of the Early Church!
Knowing that the protestant tradition I was raised in would forget most of these stories is hard for me. I love the tradition that keeps their memories alive. Thank you for your videos.
I agree, it makes me feel cheated knowing that all this knowledge and history was simple thrown out the window. I’m really questioning Protestantism and its many branches.
The sense that we can participate and celebrate the stories, very real ones, of those who love Christ, is such an amazing opportunity to breath fresh air in a decadent modern world where the bible is reduced to a set of books loosely connected. These are real stories, of real people, we ought to remember and celebrate. Christ is truly risen, and acting upon the world!
After coming from a evangelical Protestant into Eastern Orthodoxy, it has been a beautiful and intriguing transition. I feel like I have missed out on so much of our faith. Patristix, y’alls channel has been a huge blessing with getting me over Protestant hurtles and informing me on so much depth to being a Christian. May the Lord bless you guys! Thank you!
Never stop on this channel. You have no idea the truth you spread and the impact your having. I have been. Moved and seek further through this channel.
This is my favorite one so far. That's needful to be reminded of this and inform others that there is much much much more to the story than just the Holy Bible alone. I just realized, the casual, homey ambience of these videos reminds me of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood! And I mean that in the best way possible :)
I discovered you channel while maneuvering my way through TH-cam researching Eastern Orthodox theology. I am 71 years a Greek Orthodox and never fail to learn something new. God bless you and your brother. Keep up the good work.
Hearing the stories of the 1st century saints and the people who had only gotten scant mention in the pages of the New Testament was part of my becoming an orthodox Christian
Well done guys. I get the sense we're all gearing up for great things from ya'll. LOL "Orthodox Veggie Tales" .... oh my. In college I worked at a Christian Bookstore at the height of the VT, we had a display with a monitor that played a commercial for their videos which included of the course, the full song on a loop I still cringe at the thought hahaha!
Amazing content! Will you do one on the structure of the Orthodox Church? Many people unfamiliar with it seem unfamiliar with the role of patriarchs and the EP and often compare it to the papal system.
Started watching your videos and I love every episode! Please continue to talk about these faithful men and women as they are examples of how we should live out our Christian Faith!
I like hearing their story because they feel somewhat realatable and more human. They often describe, in more detail than those in the bible, the human struggles behind their spiritual life and teachings which I feel like I can relate to better. Bless you.
I guess the hashtag #FreeTheTea lives on past this episode. 🤣 But now we have a new hastag for this episode #AllHailTheCucumber 🤣 Excellent episode once again. Those in depth episodes are going to be amazing, I can that you had to hold back a lot of what you wanted to say for them. Well done once again my friend!
I was a long time inquirer into the Orthodox church but had reservations about various ideas because I was raised Mennonite. The local bishop in Dallas held a class on Irenaeus of Lyon, the student of Polycarp, the grand-student of John the Apostle. The bishop had us read the writings of Iranaeus regarding Christian worship written around 120 AD. The worship resembled the Orthodox services of today, not the anabaptist ones I was raised in. With that, I was able to cast off my doubts and enter the Orthodox church this last pascha. My patron saint is Dyzmas, the confessor thief on the cross.
St. Andrew came in Georgia and brought the unhandmade icon of Virgin Mary and this icon is still in Georgia, named Awyuri, from first bishop cathedra in south georgia, which was established by st. Andrew. Here is a place in mountains where was bult first christian church and was blessed first priest and deacon, it is villiage Didachara.
I am so happy that you did this episode and I am SO excited for what’s to come! This is Veggie Tales for adult nerds and born again Christians! I am giddy! My inner nerd is doing backflips!
6:33 The Bibel is the backbone of western culture and civilisation: Monasteries --> Hospices Monasteries --> Hospitals Monasteries --> Libraries Monasteries --> Schools Monasteries --> Universities Ministries --> Prime Ministers etc.
Here's a video you might like from an Orthodox priest in Utah, who speaks a little about our differences and similarities: th-cam.com/video/2t_Rj6bSMmk/w-d-xo.html
@Patristix I like the video, but there's things that are said about Latter-day Saints in there that aren't true. I'm being completely honest with you here. Latter-Day Saints absolutely do know what the eucharist is despite what the priest says. The Latter-day Saint doctrine that says man can become gods is also more in line with the Orthodox doctrine of theosis than the priest realizes. As a Latter-Day Saint myself, I will profess to you that Latter-Day Saints absolutely believe that we become gods by adoption through Jesus Christ's grace. No man can enter unto the Father except through Christ. Adam and Eve fell, so humanity needs Christ. It needs the spirit of adoption if we wish to become gods. Latter-day Saints absolutely do believe that we can become little g gods because God the Father and Jesus Christ will always be our God. That means that the Godhead will always be above us. It would be nice to watch an Orthodox video that reflects our views much better. Anti-Mormon literature is not an accurate reflection of Latter-Day Saint beliefs, which is what this priest gets wrong. Fortunately, there's a wonderful conversation posted on TH-cam where a Dean at an Orthodox College in Athens has a great conversation with a Latter-day Saint. Fair LDS posted the video. The Orthodox Dean asked to be invited to the program so they could discuss more. Latter-day Saints also hold very similar beliefs to Orthodox Christians on the fall of Adam and Eve. We both reject the Augustinian doctrine of original sin, which draws to the very same conclusions as the Orthodox Church on the subject. We both believe in the deification of marriage, which lasts beyond the grave. We both believe in the harrowing of hell. The Harrowing of Hell is actually a central Christian doctrine for Latter-Day Saints. It is the entire reason Latter-Day Saints build temples. Latter-Day Saints likewise have new names and make signs and tokens with their hands like the Orthodox do. We likewise have the sign of cross stitched into our clothing that we wear. Anyways, I guess my point is that the priest in the link you sent me is off base. He more to learn about us. I love Orthodoxy, by the way. I visited the local parish and read plenty of Orthodox books. I've attended pascal celebrations. I love it! I must tell you that the doctrines expressed in Orthodoxy really do reflect my Latter-Day Saint beliefs. It's that close. Anyway, I hope you will give the fair Latter-day Saint podcast with the Orthodox Dean a listen because that's a much more accurate reflection of what Latter-day Saints believe in comparison to Orthodoxy. The Orthodox priest in the video you sent me needs to spend less time reading inaccurate Anti-Mormon propaganda and actually learn from Latter-Day Saints what we believe.
I was baptised Roman Catholic, I have been attending a non denominational protestant church. I was never ever told about the history of Christianity. I wasnt even told of any saints or apostles. I feel so cheated. Its like all there is the Bible, and it was always here without strife. It seems so ungrateful

I know the feeling. It's one of the reasons I'm now a catechuman.
Knowing that the protestant tradition I was raised in would forget most of these stories is hard for me. I love the tradition that keeps their memories alive. Thank you for your videos.

I'm looking forward to the longer episodes going in depth on many of these great Saints!
There are so many stories to discover! They'll come

Glad you're enjoying them! And you're right, it's very exciting to know just how much MORE the Bible can be appreciated with more story
As a Roman Catholic I am so grateful for this channel. I am learning so much. 👏🏼🙏🏼❤️
I discovered you channel while maneuvering my way through TH-cam researching Eastern Orthodox theology. I am 71 years a Greek Orthodox and never fail to learn something new. God bless you and your brother. Keep up the good work.
I am so grateful for this channel and this video on the different saints.

Cheers, friend!

There are some fantastic episodes though! And they reference Captain Crunch!
So helpful to explain to others how wonderful our faith family is. Thank you.
Amazing content! Will you do one on the structure of the Orthodox Church? Many people unfamiliar with it seem unfamiliar with the role of patriarchs and the EP and often compare it to the papal system.
Thank you!
And perhaps down the road we might do some more videos on the 'technical' stuff. Obviously no end of things to look at in the Early Church!
Before this video, I had never heard of most of these people or known they had names, well done 👏
And there's even more than I mentioned! Thanks for watching
Started watching your videos and I love every episode! Please continue to talk about these faithful men and women as they are examples of how we should live out our Christian Faith!
Great video series. You have done a wonderful job from the set, video quality, to the graphics. I'm enjoying your content.
Thank you so much! Merry Christmas!
Great episode. Love the way things are coming along. Are you planning on doing one on the NT/formation of the canon?
I'm sure we will! We're definitely not going to run out of topics for certain... Thank you very much for following the videos!

Glory to God
What an incredible channel. My favourite video yet!
Thank you and God bless
Thank you for watching!
Great video, though, if I were to make a remark, the music felt a bit heavy

Absolutely love this !! And cannot wait for all of these stories!!
Thanks so much! Lots more to come
What are some books you recommend on the "beyond the Bible" history?
Yet another wonderful video!
I love your videos. You explain all of these concepts so brilliantly.❤
Thanks for the kind words! God bless ☦️
I know this video is a couple of years old but would you happen to have any recommended reading on this specific subject? Thanks
Your videos deserve more views!
Thank you! Please do share them around!
@@Patristix Alright! Thank you for the insightful videos. 😀
Great episode...
But what about the TEA?
Dreadfully sorry! We forgot several times during recordings. After next week we shouldn't forget again
@@Patristix see that you don't. :)
Really good content, Love the channel 👏
Thanks for the encouragement!

Solid bro. Soild.
nice video
I think brother, you need to tell the story of splitting of Rus Orthodoxy. Old believers or the Old faithfull story... if you want...
God bless you
Latter-Day Saints seriously have so much in common with Eastern Orthodoxy.

The computerized French translation is not very good. I'd rather go with : Personnages bibliques au-delà de la Bible.
Thank you! Fixed it with your suggestion. The subtitles were made by a French friend, but the title was ours and we don't speak French.
Youre making Protestants like me want to convert to E.O 😂
😁 Glad to hear! We have a saying, "come and see". Do visit an Orthodox church for a service!

It seems so ungrateful
Come and see an Eastern Orthodox service sometime! You will be amazed. Its actually our Easter this coming weekend too. May God bless you!
So i know there are a few traditions surrounding St John and his death, but i don’t remember them including him dieing in exile.
Brethren share this channel with as many people as possible🫡☦️ Christ Is King
Thank you for letting me know that my name and my grandmother’s name came from the woman at the well 🙏✝️
It is a wonderful name!
