Looks like the unused tool dock would be a nice place for a tourniquet. If you're running a saw, you should have a tourniquet. A small on-board med kit for cuts and abrasions that always accompany tool use. Antiseptic, alcohol prep pads, liquid bandage or band-aids. It looks like it's at least large enough for a spare tourniquet that can supplement a belt worn medical kit.
Great video. I spent 35 1/2 years selling Cat heavy equipment before I retired. Even tho I’m on the Milwaukee battery platform, this might be the saw I buy! I found you from the Tool Review show. Well done!
This chainsaw should be sold with two 2.5 AH battery packs. The 5.0 one is way too heavy to be used all day in the woods (compared to my Echo CS4910). Using the 2.5 battery pack, the weight is reasonable and the autonomy is around 40 minutes of intensive use, which is when I usually stop anyway to drink some water and sharpen the chain if required. Good chainsaw nontheless.
It was great my friend. I have three of these saws, one made by Bosch company, made in Germany, another one made by Makita company, made in Japan, and one made by Olio -mac company, made in Italy. All three are 40 cm electric. This saw that you introduced was excellent with a 45 cm blade, but you did not say which country it was made in. You introduce devices very well and are very professional. thank you my friend 👏👏👏👍👍
Don't know why some of these companies think having a 'quick adjuster' for the bar is a good thing? They all work fine at first but then with a little wear they do not hold the bar firm enough and the bar moves when using the saw. Would be a good saw if they had used 2-nuts for the bar tightening and put a 'scrench' under the handle in that space they molded for the tool.
Mr. Mark Thomas, what a good video! Sorry about the storm damage. I recently had a small tree come down across the back of one of the vehicles. Storm damage is no fun. I have to say, this ‘Cat’ chainsaw seems to have checked all the boxes! That is one honkin’ battery, and charger! I like the fact it has a 5 segment gauge, and seems to have good runtime. It sounded a little underpowered when you first fired it up, but it seemed to cut fairy easily. The only negative I can see ( and it’s kind of petty ) is the looks/appearance. Sorry Mark., but I think the Milwaukee chainsaw is about the ugliest thing, and this Cat is not far behind. We will all be using battery stuff one day; I’d just like it to look like a proper saw, ya know? Warranty is good. It is curious about the chain adjuster, but if it works, well that’s good. I just wonder on the durability of it? Do You know the Company that is over Cat? Hope you’re doing well, Mark. Stay safe! 👍👍👍✌😊
Hey George, it's good to hear your honest feedback. I'm pretty sure the company you're asking about is Positec. They also oversee Worx and Rockwell. Speaking of Rockwell, their JawHorse has to be one of my favorite all time tool accessories. I often see it at many tool show displays when they're clamping material down and doing head to head testing. When it comes to appearance, I'll have to look around and see who makes a sharper looking battery powered chainsaw. I understand your point, lol.
Hay Mark, thanks for the reply! Positec, hmm, learn something new every day. The JawHorse is a great tool, and it would seem the Cat chainsaw would be a solid buy. They offer a good warranty. LOL, Some would say they don't care about looks, but others will buy cars, cameras, tools, based upon appearance. Maybe I am falsely equating “performance with Looks?” I know I kid You about Milwaukee, buty i do own quite a few of their power and hand tools. That Chainsaw just looks so “toyish” though? The Cat does in a way also. Just my two cents. YMMV Take care!
I get what you're saying. When I was a kid, I had one of those Mattel 1972 yellow and red chainsaws. I played with it all the time. I sometimes look at some battery powered saws and think the same. However, the power of this Cat tells me otherwise, lol. Same with the Milwaukee.
Would you choose a battery powered chainsaw or gas? What size bar is ideal for your conditions?
I've tested some pruning saws similar in size. They come in handy and nice to have when you need one.
A battery saw sure can come in handy if you're bored on a Sunday.
Haha, yep easy to use and will get a lot done!
I’ve been looking into battery saws and after watching this I’m really impressed with the way they work, thanks for an actual review and demonstration
No problem, thanks for sharing.
In Brazil they open the box, take out the batery and charger and sell it apart!
Am impressed with it after seeing how well the bar held up and how many cuts it done

Hey Merlin, that's cool. Thanks for stopping by and checking out my channel. I have a couple other Cat tools to feature soon.
Looks just like the Kress saw
Yes, very close. Cat and Kress are owned by Positec.

Thanks, I appreciate you stopping by. I did a quick search and it looks like it's made in China.
@@MarkThomasBuilder I wish you would have looked on the box or on the device, it must have been written.
I'll make a point to do that next time. I have more OPE from CAT that will be out soon.
@@MarkThomasBuilder 👍
Is the speed of the saw variable by the trigger?
No, not variable speed.
How long does it take to change the battery when completely empty?
Right around 1.5 hours.

Makes sense. I'll see how the quick adjuster holds up over time. So far, so good after a weeks worth of use.

@@MarkThomasBuilder Love this comment!
just like the CAT-quality boots from north Korea?
Hopefully more like the CAT heavy equipment.
Question what is the price for the saw?
Tool only is $261 and $381 w/ battery & charger. They have several tools in this 60v platform.
@@MarkThomasBuilder okay thanks
As George said, eventually all tools will be built with batteries and we will be forced to use them.
Yes, I bet that's true, but never would've believed it 5 years ago.
@@MarkThomasBuilder 👍
Often sold without battery and charger...beware when shopping.
Good point!
Gears
same as kress ??? ❤❤❤❤❤
Yes, pretty much. Kress advertises 850 CFM compared to 800.
This seems like paid advertisement. Lmao
Overpriced Toy!
