I am in my early 60s and retired at 53. Lots of people gave me pushback because they had difficulty grasping the concept of not working if you don’t have to. I looked at my life as stages. I earned everything I have now through a lot of hard work, but I owe it to myself to “stop and smell the roses” in my final stage of life. In my case I left the country after I retired and live in Latin America. It allowed me to get away from all the negative things happening in America while appreciating my new environment. I have yet to meet anyone who regrets retirement.

As a property agent, i truly support both of your honest opinions.👍🏼
Times have change, properties in Spore makes us rich. But it only/already applies to those baby boomers compared to other Gens when there’s too many property cooking measures in place right now.
I managed to flip one private property back in 2002, but now? Bcoz of all these cooling measures, I’ll just stick to what i have and explore other investments strategies.
Thank you guys for sharing ur opinions.

Then bro, you have missed out on so much profits. I have so many clients easily sitting 500k to 800k profits in the past 6 years. Stay away from orchard sentosa etc and you will be safe.

Prices of property in sg will keep going up - due to scarcity of land and availability. Government cannot keep building BTO on and on. The limit to BTO expansion is the amount of land in singapore.
Baby boomer generation holds a bulk of the flats available in singapore. The property market will be very interesting when this generation starts depleting or dying off and all this legacy HDB property is released back into the market.
It will be very difficult to say whether the property prices will retain such value and keep appreciating in that 20 or 30 yrs that follow (that's when the baby boomer generation start dying).
There will be swaths of maybe "empty" HDB estates?
Do we have a scenario of this happening now? Please look over to Japan for an example.

The thing about this is that SG government is more accepting of foreigners.
For the case you mentioned about elderly, generally they're in HDBs and government would just do SERS to either change the use of the land or rebuild new HDB.
This is the result of scarcity of land.
Lastly is that foreigners who convert usually would not be purchasing HDBs. Hence the gap of private property & HDB could further increase.

@@jkalmon do not expect a SERS. They recently reclaimed back a hdb terrace at Geylang. Lawrence wong has said in 2017 when he was national development minister for citizens not to expect a SERS or VERS when the lease is ending

@shurakishi4707 I'm talking about 20-30 years in the future when most of the baby boomer generation pass and HDBs are in excess. This would be a small impact in HDBs, but also make it more accessible as per what government has been trying to do.

Prices can't keep on going up exponentially...lots of flats will age as the years go by & that's where the "fun" begins

land bid price keep going high, construction cost keep going high, what do you expect developer selling price to you ? price drop? i dont think so.

Bullshit, who say one person can own one residential property? As long as you got monies, you can buy and own multiple residential properties. It is just that with the current ABSD rule, it just make the purchase more expensive.

You sound intelligent and honest. Quite a rare find these days. By the way you mentioned easy to find 5%? Where to find? Guaranteed return on the principle too? Or some kind of insurance thingy?

Siao liao, my formal agent smoked me into buying a 1 bedder at Treasure with fake valuation last year...and even cheater + misappropriated huge amount of my saving.... now I'm stuck and not sure will I be able to sell it in two years time.. what should I do....

never trust anything any agent tells you. Arguably, even the two chaps in this video. While it is alright to listen to opinions and advise, one should be doing their own research, following up and being aware of daily industry news, to make their own informed decision.
Just to put things into perspective, depending on social media financial advise for investment - majority will end up losing money

Hi, you should report the agent to CEA immediately and sue him. I've seen a lot of cases where the client can get back their losses + even claim damages from the agent. I support you to do so.
