Shame this is the last vlog we’ve loved watching you on board, your faces said it all especially at the start of the vlog, I couldn’t stomach the constant movement either. Looking forward to your next one even though you’re in no rush to book. You two are fab!
We also did our first cruise on a smaller ship and went through a huge storm. I was ill but it as its really quite rare for it to get as bad as when we went it wasnt too bad. your are right there is so much to learn the first time. We will cruise again when we find one going to the right place at the right time on a bigger ship like you say and again going with friends I think is also a great idea. so your experiance was very similar to ours. Well done Max you did well
I hope you give cruising another go at some point but next time put ship and cruise line over price. A bigger more modern ship with better stability and overall experience. Maybe go with Ben and David so they can show you all the hacks.
Like you both, my husband and l were new to cruising and tried it for the first time at the beginning of the year. We went on the Princess line, it was a much bigger ship than you are on and we felt very little movement wise. The food, accommodation and staff were excellent. The disembarkation syndrome was terrible and lasted for 2 weeks. It hasn’t put us off and next cruise booked for next year.
You guys did great for your first cruise!!! All ships rock, how much and how you feel it depends on a number of things, side to side is normal, when it starts pitching from front to back thats bad. I've been on ships in hurricanes and massive storms and when the sea starts dropping away from the bow of the ship I just lay on the floor and take a nice nap. Silver Seas are my favorite but really expensive, I avoid Carnival like the plague they are big party ships and I'm not a big party person, I like Norwegian probably because I have a long history with it. You really just have to try different ships and lines, find what's right for you, maybe even a river cruise. This was a really fun series to watch. I'm so impressed with Mrs. Bazza!!
Well done for trying it and sorry you had such rough seas on your first ever cruise. MSC are a great company and often do a lot of deals where alcoholic drinks are included. The MSC seashore sets sail from port canaveral but honestly a bigger ship and better port stops would have given you better experience. We always end up going back to royal after trying other cruise line because their entertainment and service is amazing on the bigger ships and more food choices.
Thanks for sharing your experience. We're going on our third cruise next week, from Miami on RC Allure of the Seas. Our first two cruises were TUI Marella so next week will be the biggest ship we've cruised on. We enjoyed the others but wanted to try a big ship. Not sure about the weather forecast for next week though. Could be windy. We're just reading that ports have been missed at Nassau and Cococay over the last few days because it's been to windy to dock (our two stops). We're keeping our fingers crossed. You should definitely try a bigger ship! 😃
All ships rock and roll. Big and small. I find it very relaxing while sleeping. It's like being rocked to sleep. Traveling with friends and family is more fun with group activities. Been on many different cruise lines and princess has better food but it tends to be an older crowd
We love cruising! We sail Dec 30 on our 24th cruise. Our favorite ship is Carnival Mardi Gras. Although we don’t sail for the food, there is many food choices on the MG. The entertainment is spectacular! And Half Moon Cay is our favorite private beach. And the beds onboard are like sleeping on a cloud! Give a larger ship a try. But of course cruising isn’t for everyone. Merry Christmas🎄
Sorry you had a bit of a rough deal with the weather but in 20 cruises and over 200 days we have probably only had about 5 or 6 rough days. For you to get 2 from 4 is pretty bad luck. If you do ever try again I hope that you get some calmer seas and a better chance to chill and enjoy it.
I watched this and enjoyed it and because there were so many comments I didn't think my thoughts would count for much. I think it was obvious that Max struggled probably more times than we got to see and I wouldn't wish that discomfort on anyone especially on holiday. Apologise I'm rambling. Apart from the Isle of Wight ferry ( not really a cruise!) I've only been on two cruises - both Disney ships - and really enjoyed them both. Anyway - I'm rambling - thanks for sharing your warts and all experience. Take care both of you
First time I have watched your vlog and really enjoyed it. We haven't been on a cruise before and your information has been great. Thank you From Niagara Falls
Loved listening to you both just your experience ❤ I have only done Viking and Azamara cruise and a royal Caribbean cruise from Australia to Hawaii which was great. Please do more TH-cam you where great to listen to and very down to earth which is refreshing ❤ l love Ben and Dave as well follow them We work hard and save and love the smaller ships but love the big ones. We are heading to New Zealand in two days to board silver Nova in Auckland for 16 days hopefully the seas will be nice 😊
Glad the experience hasn't completely put you off cruising. If your focus is food, the vlogs on the Virgin Voyages cruises have been interesting and are adult only. They can be a bit party esq. but I've also seen you can have a quieter experience on them if you want. We've done P&O (Britania and Ventura), Royal Caribbean (Freedom of the Seas), and Disney (Wish). Disney was the best service and food from what we've been on. We felt Disney (though caveat we are Disney fans), that the intricacies and details on the ship, plus service like Disney park customer service used to be like, and the food quality made it worth the extra. We would like to give Royal Caribbean a go again, but on some of the bigger ships.
Another great video. Very informative and honest review. I learnt if I ever go on a cruise, to check where it's going (how rough could the seas be) and how big the ship is. I'd like a smaller ship too, but after your experience, I'd go bigger too. Valuable information. I thought you got good value. LOL I forgot where "aft" is Way to go Max, no drugs etc, and you didn't feel sick. Maybe you could try a river cruise sometime.
Sky Princess is AMAZING 😍 came back from a two week Mediterranean cruise with my dad. It was our second cruise. Princess cruises are a brilliant company. I'm off on P&O IONA to Rotterdam in March. MSC Virtuosa worst cruise - luke warm food and got food poisoning day 4 of 7.
Well done for trying your first (maybe last !!) cruise …a bigger ship would definitely suit you better (especially Maxine) …if you could plan something, Maybe Nick & Leigh could go on a cruise with you, that could be fun !! Best wishes Kathy
I'm sorry you had this experience fr your first cruise please try another one I have been on loads of cruises and Norwegian cruise line is absolutely brilliant 😊
Celebrity cruises are more adult themed but more expensive good food better all round i have been on 20 cruises and find them very good also princess cruises are good too. i have been 8 cruises from florida mostly port canaveral but the stops are very much the same mostly water things it was not that rough the seas have seen much worse. the med is much calmer and more to see and do. vacations to go is a good site to book from in the usa but there is alot better out there i would say 3 star that ship but wise taking a 4 day to start with. I have been 19 times to orlando on holiday and like your vlogs reminds me of being there well done again.
I think you had bad weather for sure. If you decide to do another, maybe a bit bigger ship for sure. We've done several cruises and not had any near the ship movement that you had on this one. So don't use that as main reason for not cruising. But I agree--you do feel it, but on a calmer cruise it isn't something you think about as much.
I’m so sorry you have had such trouble! I have been on 10 Royal Caribbean cruises and only once did I have any nausea. Unfortunately, you can’t control Mother Nature, but please don’t let this stop you from cruising all together. It is important to check out the weather patterns for the area you are cruising in. Some areas have worse weather at certain times of the year, especially during hurricane seasons.
We had our first cruise last year (with Celebrity). We loved it. Now booked for next year with Virgin. Apparently, they are great for foodies. So looking forward to it. I think you guys were just unlucky with the weather. Such a shame Definitely try another cruise. Perhaps a different line/newer ship...
Great video! You have convinced me to not go on a smaller ship if I do cruise again! I would try Izumi after seeing your experience! And I would also rather go with other people. We went with my sister and brother in law and it was wonderful! The guys went snorkeling when the gals didn’t want to! And we could do our own thing as a couple on another excursion. I’m sorry you had to deal with all that rocking! We went in February this year on Wonder of the Seas. Living in Illinois, it was great to get away from the weather too. We also added 3 Disney park days on to our vacation. If we have to pay for flying, might as well do as much as you can! Because of my bad knee I had to use a scooter on the ship and in the parks. I appreciated having it, but it was a challenge. It got painful when I had to walk but thankful that I could. Thank you for sharing your cruise experience! ❤
Hi mr & mrs Bazza what a experiance “ I was very lucky I sailed on the silversea silver dawn ship last January 24 from Miami finishing in Barbados 12 nights all inclusive “ my whole family went as a celebration for my husband beating a brain tumour “ it’s actually the line that comes up on the advert on your vlog it’s now been taken over by royal & carribean . It was a small ship just 550 passengers and was very bumpy leaving Miami I was shocked , it was great once in the carribean waters apart from stepping onto the tender boat in some ports was tricky . the food the service was excellent but I’m not a cruiser , my mum and dad like Holland America line for food and ship size and like traveling with them . . I totally understand the rocking from side to side I’m running to the loo every 5 minutes with that motion Wishing you all a very happy holiday season and a happy healthy fulfilled fun 2025 , thanks guys your vlogs that are fab . Best wishes Philip essex
We've sailed a total of 50 days on 4 different lines since 2016 and not had even 1 rough day! From Viking with 900 passengers to MSC Preziosa with 3100, cruising Venice to Istanbul, Baltics, Norway, Europe, Med and Japan.
I hated MSC, food was never hot, buffet utter chaos, never again, that was our first cruise but we did try another cruise different company and it was fantastic.
You should try going through the Bay of Biscay, with no stabailizer on, went to South Africa in1969 by sea, there was only myself and Ruth my cabin share that went for breakfast, lol
Grandeur was the first ship we went on. It’s tiny compared to the newer ships. And much more rocky. Pick a larger ship and even celebrity as they are known to have good food.
Glad that you are willing to try another. Love the Beatles tribute band with only 3 members. Maybe the 4th Beatle was throwing up 😵. Hi De Hi.😂😂😂Carnival own several other cruise lines including Princess.
Oh it’s a shame it was meh. I’ve been cruising since 2005 and have done near to 50 cruises and can honestly say I can count on one hand the ones that were rocking and rolling. The Caribbean is your best bet for calm seas, the private islands are lovely. Our go to cruise lines are Celebrity and P&O at the moment, but saying that the bulk of our cruising was with RC. Yes the bigger ships have more choice of dining and entertainment. I’d say around 125000 to 145000 tonnes are a good size. The mega ships are just too big now for us but they are amazing xx
Bazza I think you could get more for you buck. I just came back from oasis of the seas 6 nights and it was €1800 plus drinks and internet. Much bigger ship, Labadee Haiti and Coco Cay was included. I also had a junior ocean view balcony suite. Including gratuities. Virgin voyages are like all specialty dining included. You should probably look at them maybe
Disney cruise line is incredible for customer service and food. They are more stable than what you’ve experienced. You may feel it if it’s really rough but nothing like what you had.
Hi both definitely think you should try cruising again on a larger ship. RC’s Oasis & Icon class are fantastic. I have been cruising since 2016 and really enjoy it. Love the all round experience, entertainment & it’s a great way to see the world. I agree with you that RC main dining room food could be better. Speciality restaurants are much nicer . Think Celebrity cruises food would be better. Safe travels home 😊
Ive only cruised with RC, NCL & MSC. RC have been my favourite all round, although food on other two was a bit better in the main dining room. You’re really lucky to live in Florida with the choice in cruises. We’re coming from Scotland so always have the long flight although definitely worth it 😊
I would highly recommend Disney for the best food and service package, Celebrity have great food too but the service can be slow. I would say that the first cruise is usually the one where you feel the movement the most, after that you would be more used to it. I’m looking forward to the Theme Park Bazza Group Cruise 😂 Thanks for a great series of vlogs, I’ve really enjoyed this.
And while I don’t recommend Norwegian to Brits living here as they only send their oldest ships, from Florida they’re a great choice. I’ve sailed with them out of Tampa and Miami and have had a great time with fantastic food.
Hi Guys! Pleased the sea calmed and the rocking and rolling eased off... it's such a shame you had a negative 1st cruise... we did enjoy your honest portrayal of your holiday experience. Not familiar with Ben and Davie will have to look them up... all the best Neil and Ant 😊
@ThemeParkBazza we'll have to take a look 👀 We watch Travel blog Jamie for cruise tips, he's a no nonsense sort of bloke... we've picked up some great tips off him... 😊
We were on Granduer in 2019 out of Baltimore around the Caribbean, we had a bit of motion but seas were great, We got off Quantum of the seas which is huge and carries 7000 people 3 and a half times more people on board and we cruised from Tokyo to Singapore and we had rough seas a couple of times but we could barley feel anything so yes you feel a lot more on a smaller ship (or Boat 😅🤣) I have been on a couple other cruise lines but Royal Caribbean are my favorite along with Celebrity which is owned by Royal Caribbean, Norweigen are good too... Avoid Costa not the best when compered, We are going round Caribbean next March on Marella Cruise (TUI) which is 90% British on board our first time with tem but everything is included, Drinks etc Food and even Alcohol, Only WiFi is extra, I know our flights from Manchester are included and we have paid £5800 and that is everything for 2 weeks, I believe you can book from the USA but the Ships are the same size as Granduer but Caribbean Seas are the calmest I have sailed in (upto know) Mark Mills
We have just started cruising. Our first was a 12 night Alaskan cruise on Cunard's Queen Elizabeth. Fantastic food and service, and we enjoyed the entertainment especially the speakers they had onboard, particularly the naturalist ... and we had two talks by Bear Grylls. I was worried about sea sickness as I am prone like Max ... sick on ferries etc., but I only felt queasy one night after dinner so I just went to bed and all was calm by morning. Spectacular scenery and great ports on this cruise. Second was on Celebrity Constellation, also 12 nights, Mediterranean cruise...Italy, Croatia and Montenegro. Loved it. Again food and service was great and the entertainment fantastic. There was always choice of live music and honestly decisions to be made as can't be everywhere at once. And again the ports were amazing, maybe more so for us as it was our first time in the Mediterranean. This cruise was very smooth and felt no movement. I would go on either line again with maybe Celebrity getting the edge for their entertainment. We are in our early 60s for context. We are booked on NCL's Star this spring and am more than a little concerned about movement as we are going to Norway and Iceland and it can get rough up there. Also have seen many TH-cams with mixed reviews of the ship itself but we booked this for its itinerary and how the timing worked out with other things going on in our life. I think having an amazing itinerary adds to your cruise experience. Also if you are not using a travel agent I would recommend you book online directly with the cruise line and not use one of those "discount" sites. You can plug all your info in as if you are making a booking and you'll see the bottom line easily enough, switch out cabin options to see how if affects the price etc before you make your final booking. And I agree, going with a group would add to the experience. Our Alaska cruise we were with my brother and sil and it definitely added to the fun.
@@ThemeParkBazza If you enjoy Andy & Kirstie's vlogs you should check out the Cruising Canucks. I think they're great but as a Canadian I may be biased!
I’ve only done 2 cruises. Disney and Royal Caribbean. Disney was my favorite out of the 2. I have heard good things about MSC and they are very reasonably priced- particularly the MSC Seashore ship.
In 25 cruises i've only had one that was rough. I ALWAYS take Dramamine to be safe. I don't know if i'll get sick but i know if i take Dramamine i won't. I think there are much better deals out there then Grandeur of the Seas. I'm a Carnival girlie. Its a party ship mostly but always a great time. So sorry you're first time wasn't the greatest.
Really enjoyed your vlog, was wondering how Mrs Bazza felt after leaving the ship? I suffered really badly after my first cruise with Disney from Southampton to Spain. from motion sickness after getting onto solid ground 😂 😂
Hi thanks for sharing your experience ❤ We love to cruise and have sailed RCI in 2007 from UK and 2008 Christmas from New York to Caribbean. The sailings were like chalk and cheese. Excellent service, food and entertainment from UK. Not so great from USA and particularly tasteless uninspiring food. We put this down to the American market but just our opinion. We have not sailed RCI since. Our cruise lines of choice are now firmly Princess and Cunard and as we prefer not to fly anymore we sail from UK. On both of these lines the food , service and entertainment are great and there is a mixed demographic in terms of nationality and age but not many children. Cunard ships are less crowded than Princess. Our favourite ship is QM2. She is iconic and built for the ocean. No rocking and rolling 😂 We have also just returned from a 7 day on Queen Anne. One of our very best experiences. We sailed Britannia Club class on her and the restaurant was excellent. So hope that you will return one day to cruising ❤
We’ve enjoyed the Celebrity cruises we’ve been on with excellent food and service. However for us we’ve chosen cruises based on itinerary and the ports we want to visit. Based in UK we’ve enjoyed Baltic, Norway and most recently Adriatic with ports in Greece & Turkey. It’s a great way to visit a lot of different places in one trip and tick a few things off the bucket list. We prefer a small to medium sized ship and the thought of a busy mega ship doesn’t appeal.
@ absolutely - but I guess my point was that we cruise for where we are interested in visiting rather than cruising for the sake of it. Our last cruise in Greece was on Celebrity Silhouette and they were returning Stateside to do the shorter 3 & 4 night itineraries over the winter. All the crew we spoke to said they are a very different experience with more a party atmosphere and I think not so enjoyable for the crew !
Celebrity has lots of different sized ships and itineraries to choose the best cruise for you. I love their bigger ships like Apex, Edge, Beyond (my favorite). They also have the best quality and variety in their buffets. Give them a try if you decide to cruise again.
The cruise lines we like best are Regent, Silverseas and Viking. The food on these lines are very good. Friends have told us that Celebrity is good. Maxine try a river cruise as they are small and you get to see different places every day and they definitely don’t rock and roll.
I don't think I could do it. Don't like boats, don't like ships, not that crazy about water in general. But I enjoy watching other people's trips. Thank you for sharing. And I am surprised at the food, it looks like small portions. You always hear about how much they feed you. We really enjoy your videos.
Thank you. I think they expect cruisers to order multiple plates at at time ( 2 starters , 3 main courses etc) hence they are smaller . Our appetite is not that big
Sorry your first cruise wasn’t the best , by the way that doesn’t sound cheap , we would recommend princess for an altogether different experience. We would also recommend going to an area away from where you live, New York up to Canada, the Fiords, the med , so it feels like going away , and don’t book the cruise companies excursions and extras , you’ve paid for your food don’t pay again ( I’m from Derbyshire , nearly Yorkshire ) . Book last minute you’ll get some stonking bargains , and as I think you’ve worked out go BIG ! I promise you’ll have a spectacular second cruise or I’ll eat my ilkley moor bar tat . What ever you do we love coming along .
Give me a smaller ship any day Bazza, don't think I'd like being on a 6-7 thousand passenger one. We're not long off NCL Jewel and had a great time, we thought the food was fine, the itinerary does help as well so factor in that. We had 8m swells so there's no accounting for the weather but it wasn't too bad. My wife suffers from sea sickness but the stugeron worked a treat. It's not for everyone, at least you tried.
I think you should definitely try a Disney cruise for the experience,Princess are very good as well and Virgin cruises have been judged the best overall for food. Did you use any anti-nausea meds? I get seasick and take pills and use the travel bands and haven't had any issues. I second someone else's suggestion of going with Ben and David as they will help you to enjoy it next time!
Hi, I would recommend Celebrity. They have amazing food and their newer ships (Beyond, Ascent, Edge & Apex) are amazing and have really good shows. Even their older ships are great! While not adult only, they are certainly geared to adults. I’ve been 5 cruises with Celebrity and they have all been awesome!
We love Princess and have recently gone back to Cunard as well. Princess speciality restaurants are not as expensive as RCI and we are away for Christmas on Cunard's new ship Queen Anne to the canary Islands and the speciality restaurant I have booked is only £22 each. Princess entertainment is really good and for us if we lived in the USA we would go on a cruise to Alaska every year still on of our favourite cruises hoping to do it again in 2027. We follow a lot of cruise youtubers and we are off on our first group cruise to Norway and Denmark on Princess with a couple we follow there are about 200 of us so kind of like a Theme Park Bazza get together but for a week, should be interesting. We are hoping to make it to one of your get togethers in August when we are staying at Disney if it is on whilst we are there.
Its a shame your first cruise experience wasnt the best, but i think you've learned straight away from your experience. I would definitely choose a bigger ship, probably one thats only about 3000 Passengers. I'm going on my 18th cruise in May next year and once you find what you like its addictive. I could not imagine going on those huge Royal Carribean ships with 7000 people. I did a Royal Carribean many years ago on a ship similar to the one you've been on and I hated and thought no not doing that again. My Brother Some years later took our family on Cunards Queen Victoria. And I've never looked back. The drive from Blackpool to Southampton on the M6 car park is a bit of a pain. 😂 Dont give up.
Watch Ben and David’s vlog on Virgin Voyages. We just got off a cruise almost 2 weeks ago.Great food, entertainment.Have put a deposit down for the next one…
Cruise Disney……all non alcoholic drinks are included. Entertainment outstanding. And their ships have the stabilizers that you really don’t rock and roll.
Wow! That was expensive, I recently paid £777pp for a weeks cruise, on p &o Iona, didn’t do a drinks package as I don’t drink, but lots of food choice, which is exceptional quality, admittedly the entertainment is a bit naff, but there’s lots of other things to do on board, been on many cruises, bigger ships are better
The question is how much would it cost for 7 days in a London hotel or in your case New York, going to a west end /broadway show pay for meal in five star restaurant, try a bigger ship celebrity sister company to royal Caribbean have medium size ships,it’s like marmite.lol
Andy says “poor Bazzas tell them to go to a nice steady theme park when they get back”. Obviously the motion sickness affects you Barry as you don’t like the Guardians ride in Epcot. The Caribbean waters are much rougher than the Mediterranean and river cruises very calm.
Maybe a more modern slightly bigger ship would be a better experience for you. There would also be a bit more in the way of entertainment. I’ve watched a lady called Emma cruises and she has been cruising since a child. She’s been on big ships, small ships, expensive cruises and cheap ones. Inside cabins and outside ones, ones with balcony’s and ones without so she has lots of information on her channel. Considering the rocking and rolling Maxine has done well and I think she shouldn’t let this put her off trying again
Seadream, yes expensive. But you don’t pay for any extras. Food is astronomical! And drinks included and tips. Leave the wallet in the safe. Ben and David have done it before too
You both look so tired and rightly so. As you read this, I am sure you are safely home getting ready for Xmas, and looking back at that cruise with fond, fun, and exciting memories! NOT!! The positive side of your "experience", is that you can say you did it. I hope you book another cruise next year and travel with cruise buddies on a larger ship.
2 cruises under my belt only but 10 nights on Celebrity and everything I ate was either delicious or very good. 7 nights on Carnival and we will NEVER set foot on Carnival again, Celebrity only for us.
Man, im hoping I didnt make a mistake taking a 2 week cruise...how do you not get sea sick? Did the medicine not help? Please give me positive news Bazza's!😆😊
I think we talked about a lot of positives in our summary . Neither of us got sick, I pregamed pills, Max took nothing. If its a bigger ship than the one we went on you should have less rock and roll
Ayup bazza doesn’t look like you have the sea legs for cruises you didn’t look comfortable in the surroundings also fellow passengers thought it strange blogging
Well done Max you did well
Its true you really don’t know what you don’t know on your first cruise
I hope you give cruising another go at some point but next time put ship and cruise line over price. A bigger more modern ship with better stability and overall experience. Maybe go with Ben and David so they can show you all the hacks.
We will definitely try again in the future
Good advice
Like you both, my husband and l were new to cruising and tried it for the first time at the beginning of the year. We went on the Princess line, it was a much bigger ship than you are on and we felt very little movement wise. The food, accommodation and staff were excellent. The disembarkation syndrome was terrible and lasted for 2 weeks. It hasn’t put us off and next cruise booked for next year.
That is awesome!
You really just have to try different ships and lines, find what's right for you, maybe even a river cruise. This was a really fun series to watch. I'm so impressed with Mrs. Bazza!!
She was a real trooper . I did not realize there was so much difference between cruise lines and ships
My husband are in our 60’s and always go on Disney Ships. Great food and entertainment.
Lots of folks are saying Disney is a great line
I stumbled upon your channel during your hurricane…video glad that I did…you both seem like great down to earth people….
Glad you found us! We hope you are enjoying the content
Good to know!
Fingers crossed for you
You must be one of the last before it’s into dry dock for Amplification. We are on it next summer around Europe.
All ships rock and roll. Big and small. I find it very relaxing while sleeping. It's like being rocked to sleep. Traveling with friends and family is more fun with
group activities. Been on many different cruise lines and princess has better food but it tends to be an older crowd
I think it's best to try different cruise lines to find what suits you best
We love cruising! We sail Dec 30 on our 24th cruise. Our favorite ship is Carnival Mardi Gras. Although we don’t sail for the food, there is many food choices on the MG. The entertainment is spectacular! And Half Moon Cay is our favorite private beach. And the beds onboard are like sleeping on a cloud! Give a larger ship a try. But of course cruising isn’t for everyone. Merry Christmas🎄
Lots of folks are saying bigger ships are the way to go
Disney cruise line is amazing, the food is great and the beds are superb - would highly recommend
Thank you
Sorry you had a bit of a rough deal with the weather but in 20 cruises and over 200 days we have probably only had about 5 or 6 rough days.
Take care both of you
Your thoughts count for a lot !. Disney cruises do seem to be the gold standard in the other comments
First time I have watched your vlog and really enjoyed it. We haven't been on a cruise before and your information has been great.
Thank you
From Niagara Falls
Thank you for watching Claire. Welcome to our madness -)
Loved listening to you both just your experience ❤
I have only done Viking and Azamara cruise and a royal Caribbean cruise from Australia to Hawaii which was great.
Please do more TH-cam you where great to listen to and very down to earth which is refreshing ❤
l love Ben and Dave as well follow them
We work hard and save and love the smaller ships but love the big ones.
We are heading to New Zealand in two days to board silver Nova in Auckland for 16 days hopefully the seas will be nice 😊
I hope you have calm seas and fair sailing !
One swallow does not make a summer as they say. Good tips thanks
Not many river cruises in Florida :-), we thought it would be calm after the hurricane season ended
Princess cruises have been recommended. I'm sorry to hear about your MSC experience
Princess cruises are our favourite
Princess come highly recommended
Brilliant vlog 👍👍❤️
Thank you 😊
Well done for trying your first (maybe last !!) cruise …a bigger ship would definitely suit you better (especially Maxine) …if you could plan something, Maybe Nick & Leigh could go on a cruise with you, that could be fun !! Best wishes Kathy
I think a bigger ship is a must , as for Nick and Leigh …. Well maybe just Leigh :-)
Thank you, Princess and Celbrity keep coming up as good lines
I think you had bad weather for sure. If you decide to do another, maybe a bit bigger ship for sure. We've done several cruises and not had any near the ship movement that you had on this one. So don't use that as main reason for not cruising. But I agree--you do feel it, but on a calmer cruise it isn't something you think about as much.
I'm thinking we need to try a bigger ship for sure
I’m so sorry you have had such trouble! I have been on 10 Royal Caribbean cruises and only once did I have any nausea. Unfortunately, you can’t control Mother Nature, but please don’t let this stop you from cruising all together.
It is important to check out the weather patterns for the area you are cruising in. Some areas have worse weather at certain times of the year, especially during hurricane seasons.
We're definitely going to give it another try!
We had our first cruise last year (with Celebrity). We loved it. Now booked for next year with Virgin. Apparently, they are great for foodies. So looking forward to it.
I think you guys were just unlucky with the weather. Such a shame
Definitely try another cruise. Perhaps a different line/newer ship...
I think we will , as you say with another cruise line
It's always good to hear from people who have a cruise experience to compare, thanks for sharing yours!
It was a small ship just 550 passengers and was very bumpy leaving Miami I was shocked , it was great once in the carribean waters apart from stepping onto the tender boat in some ports was tricky . the food the service was excellent but I’m not a cruiser , my mum and dad like Holland America line for food and ship size and like traveling with them .
. I totally understand the rocking from side to side I’m running to the loo every 5 minutes with that motion
Wishing you all a very happy holiday season and a happy healthy fulfilled fun 2025 , thanks guys your vlogs that are fab .
That’s pretty amazing
Bazza, try MSC or Princess. Go with the Lodge Guys they have been with a group. Xx😊
Risky hanging out with Nick lol
I hated MSC, food was never hot, buffet utter chaos, never again, that was our first cruise but we did try another cruise different company and it was fantastic.
Thanks for sharing you are a nice couple ❤ from the uk
Thank you! 😃
You should try going through the Bay of Biscay, with no stabailizer on, went to South Africa in1969 by sea, there was only myself and Ruth my cabin share that went for breakfast, lol
I've heard that crossing is rough, must have been interesting!
Grandeur was the first ship we went on. It’s tiny compared to the newer ships. And much more rocky.
Pick a larger ship and even celebrity as they are known to have good food.
Thank you,
Glad that you are willing to try another. Love the Beatles tribute band with only 3 members. Maybe the 4th Beatle was throwing up 😵. Hi De Hi.😂😂😂Carnival own several other cruise lines including Princess.
Do;Les have good things to say about Carnival in the comments
Oh it’s a shame it was meh. I’ve been cruising since 2005 and have done near to 50 cruises and can honestly say I can count on one hand the ones that were rocking and rolling. The Caribbean is your best bet for calm seas, the private islands are lovely. Our go to cruise lines are Celebrity and P&O at the moment, but saying that the bulk of our cruising was with RC. Yes the bigger ships have more choice of dining and entertainment. I’d say around 125000 to 145000 tonnes are a good size. The mega ships are just too big now for us but they are amazing xx
Sound advice, go for the mid size ship
Bazza I think you could get more for you buck. I just came back from oasis of the seas 6 nights and it was €1800 plus drinks and internet. Much bigger ship, Labadee Haiti and Coco Cay was included. I also had a junior ocean view balcony suite. Including gratuities. Virgin voyages are like all specialty dining included. You should probably look at them maybe
Thanks , we will do
Disney cruise line is incredible for customer service and food. They are more stable than what you’ve experienced. You may feel it if it’s really rough but nothing like what you had.
Cheers
@@ThemeParkBazza I’ve forgotten to say the beds are like sleeping on a cloud!
Great
Grandeur is an older, smaller ship. Go for a bigger, newer ship and understand the season for rough seas, etc.
I assume you can just google the seasons for seas. We went in Nov after the hurricane season finished as we thought it would be safer
Celebrity and Princess seem to be the recommendations in the comments
Ive only cruised with RC, NCL & MSC. RC have been my favourite all round, although food on other two was a bit better in the main dining room. You’re really lucky to live in Florida with the choice in cruises. We’re coming from Scotland so always have the long flight although definitely worth it 😊
That’s what we thought, will all those cruises on our doorstep we are fools not to try one
I would highly recommend Disney for the best food and service package, Celebrity have great food too but the service can be slow.
I would say that the first cruise is usually the one where you feel the movement the most, after that you would be more used to it.
I’m looking forward to the Theme Park Bazza Group Cruise 😂
Thanks for a great series of vlogs, I’ve really enjoyed this.
Celebrity and Princess keep coming up as good lines in the comments
@ Yes, Princess are another excellent premium choice. Just avoid Carnival!!
They are quote well known in the cruising world, "Cruising with Ben and David"
@ThemeParkBazza we'll have to take a look 👀 We watch Travel blog Jamie for cruise tips, he's a no nonsense sort of bloke... we've picked up some great tips off him... 😊
Thanks, we will
We were on Granduer in 2019 out of Baltimore around the Caribbean, we had a bit of motion but seas were great, We got off Quantum of the seas which is huge and carries 7000 people 3 and a half times more people on board and we cruised from Tokyo to Singapore and we had rough seas a couple of times but we could barley feel anything so yes you feel a lot more on a smaller ship (or Boat 😅🤣) I have been on a couple other cruise lines but Royal Caribbean are my favorite along with Celebrity which is owned by Royal Caribbean, Norweigen are good too...
Some great info, thank you
We have just started cruising.
I am hearing both NCL and Celebrity are worth checking out
@@ThemeParkBazza If you enjoy Andy & Kirstie's vlogs you should check out the Cruising Canucks. I think they're great but as a Canadian I may be biased!
You are allowed :-)
I’ve only done 2 cruises. Disney and Royal Caribbean. Disney was my favorite out of the 2. I have heard good things about MSC and they are very reasonably priced- particularly the MSC Seashore ship.
Ok thanks
In 25 cruises i've only had one that was rough. I ALWAYS take Dramamine to be safe. I don't know if i'll get sick but i know if i take Dramamine i won't. I think there are much better deals out there then Grandeur of the Seas. I'm a Carnival girlie. Its a party ship mostly but always a great time. So sorry you're first time wasn't the greatest.
I did pregame Dramadine each day, Max took nothing . Neither of us were sick thank goodness
I suggest the Margaritaville at Sea . . . you'll soon appreciate the Grandeur of the Seas. 🤣
lol. Believe me we know about that cruise line
I still felt the rocking on bigger ship but not as bad. On the sun princess the food was better. Maybe going with friends?
Lots of people are saying bigger ships are better.
Really enjoyed your vlog, was wondering how Mrs Bazza felt after leaving the ship? I suffered really badly after my first cruise with Disney from Southampton to Spain. from motion sickness after getting onto solid ground 😂 😂
She was fine once back on solid ground, but never really settled on the ship
Princess’s beta a lot of positive comments I here, Cunard we cannot take from the USA directly
@ you definitely can from New York I don’t know about other ports.
Happy Xmas and happy new year
Happy new year
We’ve enjoyed the Celebrity cruises we’ve been on with excellent food and service.
Most from Florida are either Caribbean or Mexico
@ absolutely - but I guess my point was that we cruise for where we are interested in visiting rather than cruising for the sake of it.
Our last cruise in Greece was on Celebrity Silhouette and they were returning Stateside to do the shorter 3 & 4 night itineraries over the winter.
All the crew we spoke to said they are a very different experience with more a party atmosphere and I think not so enjoyable for the crew !
I shudder to think what the crew have to deal with on a party boat
Celebrity has lots of different sized ships and itineraries to choose the best cruise for you. I love their bigger ships like Apex, Edge, Beyond (my favorite). They also have the best quality and variety in their buffets. Give them a try if you decide to cruise again.
I am starting to hear Celebrity are worth a try
Virgin Voyages! Went on B&D group cruise. Food was fabulous.
B&D recently vlogged about how the food was not good on RC Anthem of the Seas.
I also hear in the comments celebrity has good food
All that work in the Saki labs beavering away all hours to end up with QC 😂
Indeed lol
The cruise lines we like best are Regent, Silverseas and Viking. The food on these lines are very good. Friends have told us that Celebrity is good.
Maxine try a river cruise as they are small and you get to see different places every day and they definitely don’t rock and roll.
Quite a few have said Celebrity
Thank you, I am starting to notice late bookings are a lot cheaper
We love Carnival. Mardi Gras is a great ship out of Cape Canaveral. Also Celebrity is a great line as well.
A lot of folks say Celebrity
Disney and virgin are known for their food. Give them a try. You will have a completely different experience.
Thanks for the tips
Try Utopia of the Seas, they do 3 & 4 day cruises. Was on Utopia in Sept it was great didn't feel it rolling. I really like Royal Caribbean.❤
Thanks for the tip!
Try a bigger ship. You don’t feel the movement. Oasis and icon class are great if you don’t want to feel movement.
I think a bigger ship is a must
Give me a smaller ship any day Bazza, don't think I'd like being on a 6-7 thousand passenger one.
I think we need to give it another try, you cannot decide off a single trip if its good for you or not
Great video but maybe chose a newer ship with more advanced stabilizers next time. I can't cruise the old ships myself I get too seasick.
It's funny you say that, the ship was rocking so much we thought the stabilizers were not working!
Well done for giving it a try only done 1 was definitely not for me 😕
Which one did you try ?
@ it was TUI a week round the Mediterranean x
I did not know TUI had a cruise line
@ yep my father in law goes on them all the time I’ll stick to roller coasters 🤣
We had everything with us. I took Dramamine every day but Maxine did not have anything . Neither of us were ill though
Best service and food at sea is definitely CELEBRITY CRUISES ..been on all the big cruise companies and celebrity by far the best on food and service
A few folks are saying the same, cheers
@ yeah I also mentioned on your FB page lol cheers bazza ..have a good Christmas
Same to you !
Thanks for the tip, we have heard good things about Celebrity.
The fruit bread is so good
Good to know
We love Princess and have recently gone back to Cunard as well.
Princess are getting good feedback in the comments section. We will be making an announcement about our meet-ups over the Christmas holidays
We won’t give up. A couple of folks have commented that a “mid size” ship is the sweet spot
You may be better on a river cruise or a very port intensive cruise. Don’t give up after just one as it looks like you had unusually bad weather.
We wont give up, you cannot make a final judgement off one cruise
Hope it’s not put you off cruiseing can get you a good discount on kontt end ferry.
We can call off at Affinity :-)
Well done Maxine 😊 Barry how much trouble were you in when you got home? lol
Not much, we both agreed to try it . I was surprised however she actually got on the ship
As a former travel agent it's malpractice to put first time cruisers in a forward cabin. With sea sickness issues. You folks need midship cabins.
Noted for future cruises, we will be trying a midship cabin next time.
Mid ship lower deck. If you want a balcony pick the lowest deck. Ships are like rocking chairs.
Watch Ben and David’s vlog on Virgin Voyages. We just got off a cruise almost 2 weeks ago.Great food, entertainment.Have put a deposit down for the next one…
Tom and Paul ( Blokes from Stoke) love Virgin cruises
Cruise Disney……all non alcoholic drinks are included. Entertainment outstanding. And their ships have the stabilizers that you really don’t rock and roll.
Disney does seem to be the gold standard
For food, you can’t beat the Disney ships.
They do get a good review
Must add, we had balcony cabin
Wow, that was a great price
Such a shame', I get motion sickness and never felt like you have on a ship. Poor Maxine didn't look happy at all 😢 x
She never settled , but at least was not sick
The question is how much would it cost for 7 days in a London hotel or in your case New York, going to a west end /broadway show pay for meal in five star restaurant, try a bigger ship celebrity sister company to royal Caribbean have medium size ships,it’s like marmite.lol
That’s very true
My favourite was celebrity few or no children 😉lovely food and I felt the staff more attentive than royal
Celebrity seems to get a good redommendation
i know you have your favs for cruising but it you want to know what to expect from each ships romsm etc watch tim tracker 's ship tours
We’ve been watching his videos for a long time, not the cruise ones though
Joining the chorus for Celebrity -- excellent food and entertainment but just a weeeeeee bit pricey
I hear good things about Celebrity food
Its a shame you have had rough seas on your cruise. I did on my first cruise but went on another and it was fine.
We will give it another go someday
Andy says “poor Bazzas tell them to go to a nice steady theme park when they get back”. Obviously the motion sickness affects you Barry as you don’t like the Guardians ride in Epcot. The Caribbean waters are much rougher than the Mediterranean and river cruises very calm.
I took drugs each day so did not feel too bad
Maybe a more modern slightly bigger ship would be a better experience for you. There would also be a bit more in the way of entertainment. I’ve watched a lady called Emma cruises and she has been cruising since a child. She’s been on big ships, small ships, expensive cruises and cheap ones. Inside cabins and outside ones, ones with balcony’s and ones without so she has lots of information on her channel. Considering the rocking and rolling Maxine has done well and I think she shouldn’t let this put her off trying again
I think we have proved we can survive the "rock and rolling", would just rather avoid it :-)
If money was not a problem then Cunard line food is amazing which beatle is missing lol
Not sure Cunard sail out of Florida
No you would have to pick it up in Barbados
Seadream, yes expensive.
But you don’t pay for any extras.
Food is astronomical! And drinks included and tips. Leave the wallet in the safe.
Ben and David have done it before too
NIce, thank you for the advice
I would suggest a bigger ship and stay on the east of Florida towards the Caribbean and in the Spring time. Much more pleasant.
It's good to get some advice, thanks!
We did learn a lot, and we will do another cruise , Abe not in 25 , more likely 2026
Did you not consider a Disney cruise?
Not as our first one, too, pricey
I say give it a 2nd chance!
I agree
sadly the saying you get what you pay for does stand true sometimes!
Very True, but others have said it was not that cheap
2 cruises under my belt only but 10 nights on Celebrity and everything I ate was either delicious or very good. 7 nights on Carnival and we will NEVER set foot on Carnival again, Celebrity only for us.
Celebrity and Princess seem to be getting good reviews in the comments
Wow! Ow much?!
I know, it's not cheap to cruise. Double it for a Disney cruise I expect
@@ThemeParkBazza Good to hear and know. Thanks!
For food and beautiful ships Princess are brilliant love them every time. Sounds like you’re a natural Max Great vlogs ❤
We hear good things about Princess cruises
First comment, unfortunately I have nothing to say 😂
Yes you have :-)
Floating prison. Unless you’re getting hammered everyday or have some interesting excursions it’s not worth it.
Or perhaps a bigger ship with more things to do on the ship
Ayup bazza doesn’t look like you have the sea legs for cruises you didn’t look comfortable in the surroundings also fellow passengers thought it strange blogging
You cannot make a final decision off just one experience
