Not a coincidence that James Brown’s sound is all over this track. Bootsy got his start playing bass as a teenager in Brown’s band. He was so young, Brown had to ask Bootsy’s mom for permission to let him tour with the band!

I don’t even listen to this type of music, but they absolutely captivated me with this album. It just submerges you into their grove, tells the story and leaves you with that good, warm feeling inside your chest that you usually feel after completing a good book. Loved it.
You'll have to wait until 2023, because the album was released after the September 30th deadline. They are up for several Grammys for the song and performance of 'Leave The Door Open' in 2022.

Apparently it was thundercat on the bass for “after last night”, but he also contributed to the three part harmony you can subtilely hear on some lines. Either way this is my favourite track on the album hands down!
32:32 I think how SilkSonic described it in their interviews is that the album was naturally/organically made. So whatever felt right to them, like how they felt or if they were having fun with it, they jammed and this is the output. One of the best things that happened during the pandemic...

The modulations on “Blast Off” at the end are down right despicable. The smooth transitions are absolutely disgusting and these two deserve all the praise for doing the Lord’s work with this album.

This just reminds me of the 70’s. More specifically Motown vibes. Like that funk, disco, r&b, soul sound. It is my favorite because this is the type of music I have been listening to lately. I’ve been obsessed with the 70s Motown music and this is it but modern.
Indicative of the 70's... the whole sound is to mimic strutin' down the street. So you feel and move.. Instruments especially bass and drums are like another characte/flavor in the play. As important as the vocalist. Loving your insights and expertise! One of my favorite channels. Thank you.

Ha ha!!!! I think vocal coach reactions are really hit and miss - some are great - and others seem to be more about themselves rather than the musician they’re reacting to! Sam Johnstone is really great! Doesn’t matter who is singing or what the track is, he treats it all extremely professionally and I always learn loads! Sadly, he doesn’t upload as much as I’d like - he’s so busy being an actual vocal coach, lol! Couple of others I also love are Rebecca Vocal Athlete and Beth Roars! Both British so I might be a bit biased though lol! Rebecca does a lot of tracks you wouldn’t expect from a vocal coach - her video of WAP by Cardi B is one of the funniest things I’ve ever watched! She tried to read the lyrics in her ‘posh’ English accent and couldn’t get past one verse it was so rude! Ha ha!!!
