Thank you so much Jane for taking the time to give these tutorials. You make it look so easy. Can't wait to try this one, didn't do so well on the cherry blossom one. I didn't have a round natural bristle brush. Off to the craft store I go!
Jane, this was a real pleasure to watch you go through the complete process. I am glad that you did not do many of these. I know why you do, but the spontaneous action gives so much life to this. Your sunset and clouds work real well together. Another great demonstration, Jane, I like the black, white, and one other color approach. Limited pallets can create such interest. Great work.
I love the way you explain things with such detail and why you do them that way. Very helpful. Glad I found your videos!! I'm really enjoying painting with you.
Thanks!!!!! I enjoyed this very much....Love seeing the red clouds...you are so right, you never know what colors will work in any given place.....LOVE IT!!
Absolutely beautiful painting, Jane. I love the color palette that you've chosen...it makes the whole scene more dramatic. I've always been impressed with the simplicity of power lines with birds on the wires. Watching you paint this gives me the incentive to try this myself. Thanks for the tip on highlighting the clouds. I hope to see more of your videos soon. Hugs! Karen
Today i buyed first little canvas and tried paint. Then I tried to find some tutorials there on youtube and I'm happy that I found you. I learned a lot in short time and I think that I will start to paint more often. Awesome painting Jane.
Love your explanation, this is the same exactly how I create, I have an outline plan and if the brush wants to go else where, then I let it go. You inspire me so much, again, I start and use lots of useful tips that hold my interest from your tutorials. I usually end up with something completely different than your finished piece. Love watching and learning from you, thanks! 💖
+Kristen Chilson-Tierney Thank you!! It was my first time painting clouds in any color other than white. I was nervous, but very happy with the way they turned out :D
+Pandemonium Art Videos I am all ready to try adding color to my clouds, hopefully comes out as beautiful! Nervous but really excited! Cant wait for your video with the Art Sherpa, will be watching
This one is also my fav .. Red is dancing i love those clouds i love ur style. When you do it seems so easy :) Its amazing watching and learning from you Jane.
Hi miss Jane : thank you for your teachings. You have incredible talent, awesome color control and shapes. You inspired me to paint. Some time ago I felt very nervous and stressed, and with this I have recovered incredibly. Thank you very much for your clear explanations. In the future I will show you my works that I have done, inspired by your unique works of art. Thanks teacher. Sincerely Liliana Jojot.
This was another great lesson Jane, I like that you show us how to fix mistakes. I'm going to be very nervous painting that first power line. Leap of faith I think.
Love your art, you explain very well, I check your channel often to see if you have anything I haven't watched yet. I also love how you use a limited pallette.
+Pam Kiser Thank you, Pam! Limited palettes are the best. I'm already planning out my next video, and I'm pretty sure it will only have 3 colors too :) Also, I try to post every Wednesday, if that helps. Occasionally it will happen on Tuesday or Thursday. If you're on Facebook, follow me there so you know what's coming up :D facebook.com/PandemoniumArtVideos/
Hi jane, Im Mariel from Argentine I loved all your painting. Im made a lot, for example this one, the buda, the girl with red umbrella. I will sen you. I love your work. Thanks you, I LEARN A LOT.. THANNNKKK YOUUU AGAINNNN ...
Dear Jane,Thank you so much for accepting me on your Facebook page,I love your paintings and I have watched and loved every painting video that you have posted, you are so talented and I have learned so much from you, finally I have access to a page where I can upload my own paintings and look at others art,I paint as a hobby and it is so relaxing, thank you so much, you are my inspiration.
+Charleysays moouw Ha! Thank you! Nah, no bravery. Just keep a damp brush handy to wipe off the ones you don't like. Make sure you get it immediately before it dries :D
+Pandemonium Art Gallery I think I'm still too chicken! I'd have to draw it in watercolor pencil first, then go over it. I'm sure mine would end up more of a triangle if I tried to paint freehand! haha! Gorgeous result though. I'm inspired by the way you only use 3 colours to create such dramatic effects.
This is gorgeous .... I was so tense when I started watching and it has literally relaxed me entirely. I love this and I am going to paint (try) it on a larger canvas. I am very new to painting and have no idea as to how it will turn out. Thank you for this tutorial. Love it! Also, you are terrific.
+Jaclyn Thornton Thank you, Jaclyn! Sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes a few days, lol. Just depends on how I feel about it. But I next to never paint a painting start to finish without walking away from it at least a dozen times :)
jane scusa ma te lo devo dire "sei bellissima in questo video", ma la cosa piu' importante e' che sei bravissima e riesci a fare imparare tanto! ciao ricordati dei pennelli grazie
Hi, Jane...I absolutely love this painting. I tried and failed miserably. Haha. So I painted over the clouds. I do like the limited palette though. I'll come back to this one in about a month, when I'm more comfy. I remember doing the Buddha, thinking it was so challenging. Just the other day I went back to it and finished. I really want to try the poppies! Thanks!
Thank you, Debra!!! Just remember that even failures and mistakes are valuable. That's when we're learning. If we did everything right the first time, there'd be nothing to learn and no enjoyment
Thanks, Jane...you are absolutely right! Now I have this gorgeous background. What to paint on it. Is still hard for me to put my ideas onto canvas. Do you happen to have any suggestions? I like a stormy sky but have no idea where to start. Thanks, I really enjoy your style!
Hi, Jane...I just watched this again this morning. I absolutely love it. I'm wondering if you could do something like that one on the right, behind this canvas? I'm curious about it. Anyway, now that I have the right red I look forward to this!
I'm loving your instruction ... wondered if you would share what brush you used for the clouds ... when i look for bristle brushes i'm finding most rounds have a significant point and it doesnt look like yours does. thanks for sharing your beautiful technique!
+Suz Slag Thank you, Suz! Honestly, I have no idea what brand of brush it is. It's a really cheap, really OLD brush that I've had for years and years. If you have an old round brush that doesn't do its job of making nice lines anymore, you could always just cut the point off with a pair of scissors. Basically, you just want a round brush that's a little puffy and not good for much else. I hope that helps!
Wow Jane this is a very powerful painting, love it :-) where do you get your ideas of what to paint ? I can paint from a pic or something, but have a hard time to just sit down and figure something out lol
This is such a beautiful painting! I've always found power lines against a sky oddly beautiful and can't wait to try this. :) I had a question though. Is there a way to mix the crimson color? I only have tubes of primary colors.
+Dani Russell Thank you, Dani. Me too. Power lines are so interesting!!! I don't know how you'd mix it exactly, but if you try adding a little yellow to red until you just barely have an orange color, I'd say you'd be pretty close :)
Hi Jane!!!! I love it, and I m going to try this one too. Question. If I can´t get Naphtol Crimson, is it any way to get it with some kind of mixing with orange or yellow ..... I dont know... I mean with mixing regular colors, could I get that one? ( you can include that on your tips videos :D ) OMG I M SO BOSSY!!!!! LOL.... Nice to have you back!!!!!
+Janice Elaine Scarcella Hahaha!! If you can't get naphthol, cadmium red medium hue is SUPER close. Naphthol is just a little more intense. If you can buy Liquitex Basics anywhere near you, you can find naphthol :) Thanks!!! It's so good to be back :D
This was so neat to see your painting process. Thankyou for showing us that! A couple questions: 1. where do you get your natural bristle brushes? maybe I'm looking for the wrong thing but I cant find one. And 2. When I paint with black it always seems too transparent unless I do several layers. I am using Liquitex basics ivory black. Any suggestions? Love your channel by the way!
+kt juul Thank you!! Do you have a Michael's near you? They have a pack of... I don't know... like 10 or 12 of them for around $6. Super cheap!! Ivory black is your problem. Ivory is a MUCH softer black. Use Mars Black. That one is good and solid, and much stronger of a black than Ivory.
Hi Vicki! It depends. Mostly on how I feel, lol. Sometimes I'll just start painting right over top of the old painting. Sometimes I'll just coat it in white or black paint, depending on what I'm going to paint. You can also use gesso. I don't typically use gesso, though, because I don't like the texture.
I have watched numerous you tubes on painting and as a beginner I have to say that you are by far the best teacher for novices. You have a knack for knowing what questions we have as you are painting. It is my intention to watch all of your videos. It's also fun to see what color your hair will be in each episode. Thanks for your EXCELLENT instruction...you are the best!
Vicki S. Aaaw, Vicki, thank you SO much!!! You're so very sweet, and I'm very glad I can help you!! I would love to see what you're painting. Are you in our Facebook group? If not, we'd love to have you
Jane I love your tutorials, but when looking for a painting to do there are mostly silhouette ones. could you do a colorful bird???? I really want you to teach me a painting with colors....
OMG this is beautiful!:o im gonna try to paint it! But i dont think its gonna Look good for me!xD i Love to paint i started to paint on canvas for Maybe 2years ago! Its looks so easy when u do it! Thx for all the tips!:D
Jane I really love all of your paintings and I have tried recreating a few of the beginner ones. Unfortunately I keep having the same problems whenever I paint with acrylics...I always waste a lot of paint because when I try to put it on the page it quickly disappears and dries. Also the red and the white keep mixing into pink so I used very little white. I would really appreciate if you would help me out, i'm very new at this.
Thank you so much! There really are so many factors that go into acrylic drying. Some brands dry faster than others, humidity, how much water you're using on your brush, ambient temperature, etc. Sometimes if I feel like I need a little extra blending time, I'll lightly spray down the back of the canvas with a little bit of water. That usually gives a few extra minutes to blend. As far as the red and white making pink, just be sure you're not over blending. The more you go over it, the more it will blend. Just put it down and leave it. I know it's frustrating to get pink when you want red, so maybe try a different color! I hope that helps!
+Brandi Frye Hahaha!! Thank you, Brandi!!! I know! I thought I'd love my break, but all I could think about was getting a new video out! It will be quite awhile before I take a break like that again ;)
I love all your paintings but this one is my favourite. I have tried to do several of them and the only successful one has been 'A walk in the rain.' which I am proud of. I would really love to try this one but keep putting it off as I can't get the clouds to look realistic. I don't have the money to buy the proper brushes do you think this is why I can not get the right look? Thank you for all your wonderful tutorials :D
There really are no proper brushes for clouds. Every single artist uses different brushes, techniques, etc. I even saw an artist do amazing, realistic clouds by finger painting! Keep practicing with what you have and you'll get them. Just get a junk canvas and try over and over with different brushes. Eventually you'll get it. ♥♥
I think the higher ground looks better than the lower ground. I think the painting needed to be more grounded anyway, if that makes any sence. I guess I mean more of the ground showing.
+Pam Kiser That's pretty much why I left the ground so low the first time. I had a feeling I was going to hate what I did with the fan brush and would bring the ground up higher. I love leaving a little slice of ground at the bottom because then you have to focus on the sky more. Makes it feel so expansive!
you shoud show your picture in ful at the end, frustrating just seening close u a the time, thankyou tho .I was amaized at the blue tones coming out in the sky.jamie
Dear Jane, I have painted 4 of your paintings and posted them on my FB page. I have offers from friends who would like to buy them from me. Is this ok?
+Calum Mckenzie To my Facebook page or here? If here, that's really weird :/ Here's my Facebook page, if that's what you're having troubles with: facebook.com/PandemoniumArtVideos/
ok grazie Jane ma nn voglio darti molto fastidio, purtroppo sono impegnato tanto con il mio lavoro e con la pittura vado un po' a rilento, ciao grazie alla prossima

Thank you, Michael! Painting in super limited color palettes is my favorite thing to do :)
Painting with Jane, I can see that by the paintings hanging on your walls. Have a great weekend.

Using watercolor pencils is a good idea! I've even had people use Sharpies. No judgement here! Whatever you have to do :)
+Pandemonium Art Gallery Thanks for your encouragement. Really appreciated.
This is such a lovely painting
I am going to definitely try to do one as I got some acrylics, brushes and canvases for Christmas xx
+Simply Sophie Yay! Sounds like a great Christmas :D Thank you, and let me know how it turns out!

+Painting with Jane if you get back into metal smithing, can your painting fans have first dibs on buys?
Jaclyn Thornton Haha! Probably :D
Love that sky and I need to practice my clouds. Any news on your brushes?
Thank you, Donna! I'm still waiting for my next order. Cross your fingers they come soon!

Can you do a tutorial on the floating tree that is in your background in some of your videos? Great video, btw!
+Sarah Perry Thank you! It's on my list to do a simplified version of it. That one took me like 2 weeks to do, lol. It was a beast!

+chamoussette Merci beaucoup!

thank you jane for your reply i have a bunch of music video on youtube to and fan union also
When you reuse a canvas, how do you prepare it? Do you just start painting or do you add some type of medium first?
Hi Vicki! It depends. Mostly on how I feel, lol. Sometimes I'll just start painting right over top of the old painting. I hope that helps!
thank you, I will look you up on fb,
omg your back yess ive been waiting for so long 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆👌👌👌👌👌👌👊fist pump
Thank you so much for your reply Jane. X
I’m keep having trouble getting my power lines right. Perspective grrr 😉
Now I can't decide if I want to paint this one first or the mystical moon one first...
+MrGrandeflipper Ha! Some tough decisions are fun, aren't they? :)

Dear Jane, I have painted 4 of your paintings and posted them on my FB page. I have offers from friends who would like to buy them from me. Is this ok?
