Simply amazing. I found my long lost great grandfather in Wallace Idaho via Ancestry. He’s buried in a miner’s cemetery there, I have his death certificate dated 1925. Glad to finally be able to see things through his eyes.

At roughly the 8:08 mark, there's a picture of three girls; two older ones and one in a baby buggy. The baby is my grandma Barbara, who passed away last year. The other two are her sisters Bonnie and Genevieve. They grew up in Wallace, and my grandpa grew up in Burke. This is really cool! Thanks!

Ted, another masterpiece! Good job! You really defined Wallace well, from boom to bust as you said. Still, folks who live there are proud of their past and hope the best for the future. Wallace is a survivor, not like a lot of ghost towns you and I like to explore. Thanks for the quality production. I enjoyed it immensely. Dave.

@@daviddodd7128 David, sorry to hear of your loss. Your Sweetheart, like the creator of this video (my good friend Ted), have moved on. I know both of them are looking down as we type these comments and wish they were still here. I know we feel the same about them. Thanks for your touching comment on Teds video. I bet it does Mr. Cohen.
I’m sure the stories you have, would go until the fire went out.
I did the Sunset mine tour with my mom last week. “ 70 feet in 7 years “ The whole damn world and way of living was on a whole other level. That’s the kind of work it takes to become a millionaire. Glad some of those folks made it.

Thank you for doing this. A wonderful piece of nostalgia for those of us who grew up there. A positive that is missing here are some of the beautiful residences that remain, many having been restored and preserved. Almost brings a tear to the eye though.

+Patricia Bumgarner Thank you for watching. I had shot several clips of some of the houses. Those on Cedar Street and 3rd, some up the hill, King street etc. They just didn't fit into this project though. I plan on using them in other things later. If there is a particular home or neighborhood you think you would like to see, fee free to send me a message. Thanks again.

Great Video. It's sad to think that way of life will never return. A few of the scenes of the abandoned town of Burke, all the closed and for sale signs in Wallace kind of brought a tear to my eyes, but the ending was a little more cheerful and the last shot of the sun and the american flag at the miner statue was most fitting. The fact the sun on is trying to break out of the dark clouds just over his shoulder, and the song is "May the Sun Shine On Your Shoulders" was a perfect choice.

What a touching video this one. Everywhere, mining is an economic activity that raises a region to then make of it only dust and memories of glorious days. Wallace is one of the nicest places in Idaho and I hope residents will keep it that way.

Nice video! I came to this in searching for cities that have been bypassed. I live in Sultan, WA where our little town has HWY 2 running straight through it causing terrible traffic back ups for miles because of it's traffic lights. I know Wallace a bit as my husband's family lived in the area and his middle name is after this city but have only been through there a couple times. I understand that the city nearly washed up from the boom coming to an end but it looks like it is flourishing now even though it is bypassed. It's population of less than 800 and yet the buildings are beautiful and the streets are busy with people milling about. Sultan has roughly 5k and half the buildings are sitting empty and deteriorating. It is hard to get anywhere in the whole Skykomish Valley because the terrible back-ups and a lot of us feel like hostages in our homes on the weekends because of the long back-ups through here. It can take sometimes 2 hours to go 12 miles on HWY 2.
I envy your beautiful city!! Thanks for sharing. :)

I now live in Coeur d Alene and last lived in Sumner about an hour south of Sultan. Great fishing and beautiful little town in its own right. But the traffic is well known through there. It’s sad there’s not more money that goes into that town all things considered.
