    Being sick in America seems crazy, I go to the doctor here in Sweden and pay like $20 max regardless of what it is. Even private doctors I paid $40 for a surgery and the rest was covered by the state. And once I had paid $130 for care a year, the rest of the care is free until that year is up. Theres a similar system for medications as well. I don't envy you guys in America, jesus.
    I hope you're doing well now by the way.

    In Australia my Surgery and following chemo treatment has cost me nothing. It's free. My last 4 chemo sessions were even done at home by a nurse. Doctor appointments have been free. No insurance needed.

      That's the way to do it! I did have surgery in Australia in 1993. I was traveling around the world at the time in an old Jeep. The doctor in Perth told me I could have the surgery done for free via public health but it would take a few months to schedule it as it wasn't an emergency. But since I had travel insurance my doctor recommended me to a private medicine surgeon who got me in for the procedure the next week. In the end it always seems money talks.

    Very interested in your diet recommendations for healthy eating during and after PC. Maybe a video on that topic?

    • @parristx
      @parristx  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I know I need to get videos done on that topic- but I am still tweaking my diet. I can tell you breakfast everyday is a bowl of steel cut oatmeal. I add some cinnamon, flax seed and chia seed, and a mix of berries. I will also usually have a banana, a few tangerines and a cup of green tea. Somehow it never gets boring and it keeps me feeling full till lunch.

      Hello. Your videos are just great. What do you use as a milk substitute if at all?

      @@wormsnake1 Hi there. I have tried a variety of alternative milks and seem to have settled on almond milk. The taste is really refreshing and my family likes it well enough that we all drink it now

    My chemo treatment has been totally free and all associated medicines free as well. If I have to go to another city for radiation or an MRI they fly me over, give me accommodation all free too. I just have to pay to get to the airport and back home. $60.00. Pickup and return to the airport in the city is free too. I catch a free shuttle to and from the hospital appointments too.

      Which country is this in? It would be nice to be able to focus on dealing with your illness and not how you are going to manage to pay for the treatment.

    Like the shirt. Glad you recovered from your cancer and Chemo treatments. I've heard it can be really taxing on the body. One of those, is the cure worse than the disease situations? Thanks for the video and offering information about its cost. take care. (I hope you are in the process of fulfilling your 'bucket list' :)

      Thanks Johann! With chemo there is always loads of healthy cell "collateral damage" which makes it pretty miserable. But long term my worse side effects have been from the radiation treatment and the Lupron shots (keeping my testosterone levels near zero). But I am working to keep active in spite of that and am currently climbing state highpoints as a motivator and goal.

    Questions? Was/is your Blue Cross insurance a Blue Advantage plan? What was your total out-of-pocket expense? Thanks in advance! - I'm a 67 yr old male about to start radiochemotherapy next week for a base of tongue & tonsil oropharyngeal tumor. I've learned that Head & Neck is particularly difficult due to the loss of speaking, eating, drinking, swallowing, and taste along with no saliva production and mouth/throat sores. Hopefully I can dodge at least some of the adverse effects...lol! Thanks for sharing your journey!

    Good grief. That is rather sobering. I take there is some provision for those who don’t have enough insurance or savings?

    Hmmm? Looks like my lung cancer was a better pick, I recieved my halfway bill 17days of doctors, infusions, pills bla bla 287,80 euro (Finland) no insurance etc. My future expenses 287,80 + dentures 2000 euro's, you got to keep your pizza eating teeth. So you win. Oh and chemo treatment is free.

      We not only price people out of the best treatment options but the economics of generic drug production have meant lots of cancer drug shortages here in the US- whether you have the money or not. And it is weird how dental health always seems to come in 2nd place in health systems all around the world. Here you need separate dental insurance to have anything covered at all.
