But I do know that the homing dash actively was something you needed to position yourself for properly, it also was a matter of making something that wasn't engaging more fun. Frontiers cyberspace in vanilla was so much slower, did not have a damaging boost, and was copypasted level design outside of a few original stages. Most of which all were under a minute or two minutes. It doesn't have enough meat already, so doing tech that let's you fly over stuff, especially with spin dash made it more fun and engaging. Shadow Generations doesn't have this problem, the levels already last a good margin from 3 to 4:30 mins, similar to the length of Sonic Gens stages. The levels are a lot more involved, and the tech in that game's vanilla is fun and requires good timing and positioning, but it doesn't break the stages in half. It has a limit. Which means you're interacting with good stages design more than simply skipping it
@NerfMaster000 this is true, I just think utilizing things like the spear glide are a lot more fun, just requires more thought for the skips and doesn't feel effortless because it only really gives you distance, not height. ends up feeling like you're just barely making it across many gaps you skip, and it's still good for experimenting with where you can pull it off in the level design
I wouldn't really called this unleashed physics cause you did not have THIS level of air control, this is more like frontiers physics when you rail hop
I love gens physics, but it’s just so dumb to put the slippery and super fast controls into a game that’s optimized for slower and more precise movement. I would still love to see a game with gens physics again one day.

I appreciate that you keep your inertia/momentum while jumping. I have no idea why they decided to make jumping decrease your speed so drastically lately. A full jump? Sure. But a light hop shouldn’t decrease the speed to the extent it does.

Listen, while I love these physics, it should honestly be looked down upon to put them into a game that was clearly not designed around them. Level design should be character and physics first, actual level second.
This is less of console Generations and Unleashed and more of Dimps boost (Colors DS, Generations 3DS). Unleashed/Generations boost is way too heavy and restricted, not to mention you can't keep the flow when jumping.
Same with physics but honestly shadow generations isn’t too bad, they just messed up the quick step for some reason. I also miss blasting at the speed of sound man
While this does look pretty neat, it kinda undermines most of the great level design by allowing you to fly over so much without even really trying

To be fair, you can only perform these type of flyovers when you already know the level design very well or else you’ll just fall into a death pit
