News Media does not present reality but different constructions and interpretations of reality .Media content is well prepared by Professionals .This is why the use of News Literacy is crucial in helping to analyse and criticise what is provided .

Looking back at this 4 years after this was posted it has never been as clear as it is now, perfect vocabulary use to help elaborate. I mean I dont know how clear it was 4 years ago but now its like a damn spot light has been dropped on the media.

Audience is no more a passive consumer of information, it has now its own media: social networks to express its views about reality, media agenda and public policies. What do you think?

Given the sway of the Murdoch press & its influence on elections in Australia & the UK, I'd say the media is very powerful at this.
The public has its own momentum & issues of the day, but it's a momentum that can be tweaked & leveraged by the media too. Then when it comes to what & how new concepts are introduced to the public, the media has immense power there.

Its about what to thing "about" and they think they thought about it themselves.
the audience is not passive and the media doesn't tell you what to think.
Media has a gatekeeper in front of reality. And the information makes a media agenda, public agenda and policy agenda.
And the audience is getting information from both aspects (the reality, the agendas)

Ok, I'm with ya but...... in the case of "Obamacare", the majority of "right leaning" Americans know what Obamacare is and what it entails. That's why we didn't like it. There is a stark difference between your assertion and our reality. Yours implies we didn't like it simply because of the Obama name association. In reality we didn't like the affordable care act so we named it in association with the Obama Name. A better example for you to have used would be when the media reports on "corporate welfare", "fair share", "white privilege" or "systemic racism" to name just a few. All of these terms don't actually exist and are simply made up buzzwords to evoke emotion and emply or control a narrative.

The study showed that 30% of the questioned people didn't know what the Affordable Care Act was..
