It's an interesting topic to think about! I find that it makes sense - especially in light of discerning mass media to be a full time gig. Seriously, you could spend a TON of time doing that, which is is why people have incentive to trust someone to do that for them. There's a rationality to it, however there is also the danger of things becoming lost in translation. As much as would like to 100% trust our opinion leader/errand boy to give us pure 100% unadulterated truth - there are logistics and nuances involved that make this unlikely. At the end of the day, if we really want to understand something, we'll be willing to put the work in - and there's no substitute for it. Therefore, we all have finite time to manage, and with it comes strengths, weaknesses, points of expertise, and blind spots.
Again, this is an interesting topic!

"who believe he is telling the truth, and the media is lying about him."
Kudos for keeping a straight face at this point. I couldn't do it. You are a pro, to be sure.

Kanye west has so much influence that he can make the same pair of shoes in two different colors, tell me they are different, and i will believe him. But apart from kanye west, i believe the two step flow theory is presently in action.

Could Opinion Leaders also include the "experts" who constantly show up on CNN, FoxNews, and MSNBC? I don't mean the hosts---I mean those (self appointed?) "experts" that are brought in to weigh in on the subject. Something like "The Senate sub-committee today debated XYZ. To discuss this further, we have John Doe, senior fellow at the knowledge institute, Joe Blow, executive vice president of learning international, and Mary Smith, retired congresswoman from the state of blahblahblah." I have a big tune-out factor when those types of people come on and try to sway viewers to their way of thinking. Generally speaking, the host of the show has already given the facts of the issue in the introduction and video piece, and I can use that factual information to determine if it's a "good thing" or a "bad" thing. Would those type of people also be "Opinion Leaders"?
