Because all he does is play like the same 10 games over and over. I don't get why people are so amazed about things without the actual context. That's like being amazed a nuclear scientist made the nuclear power plant. Well ya, he's been doing it forever and it's his job...
When I was 10 this game turned me into an NES Controller durability tester. I learned that the controllers can withstand tremendous impact while being swung violently by their cords and smacking the floor with them 'em.
As a retro gamer who loves that speed running keeps a lot of old titles relevant, I love every Arcus does. Further, I want to share this hobby with my kids and I LOVE that I can count on Arcus to not make jokes or use language that requires me to tell them not to repeat that. Thank you for what you do here.
That music gives me PTSD…. We had this game when we got an NES on Christmas morning and …. Well most of you already know. Thank goodness we got Kid Icarus and Zelda shortly after.
Glorious Arcus, glorious! Congrats on the huge PB and the deathless Ghosts and Goblins run. Stuff like this shows why you are the greatest All-Around NES Player active today
Wow, super impressive. Mind blown by accepting and keeping the flame. Much respect for the amount of time it takes to make even the hardest games into something laughable.
Hey Arcus! I've seen a lot of your speed runs and I'm always impressed by them. I wanted to comment because I love that you called the ghosts burritos, because I always hear people call them hot dogs and I just can't see it as easily as I could a burrito.
To everyone here in the comments. We are a family. Period. A community of people who share the love of video games, the memory of great video games, and a commraderie that is a bond that makes us transcend what it means to be a human being. In other words, live long and prosper!
This is one of the rare games that is incredibly frustratingly difficult and very few people can beat, but yet a fun and classic game. Battletoads is another one that comes to mind.
The fact that this dude who is a professional speed runner still had issues playing through this tells you all you need to know about how difficult this freaking game was. The creators made that last level just to drive us insane. Thank God for the glitches
The "sad part" about this game, is how many kids that got this game to their NES, and didnt understand that it was a hardcore game beyond anything else. Such a waste of money for most people, getting this game where most people cant even finish the first level.
Anyone else watch this with awe...and a bit of anger? Like, bro...this game made me want to stop playing video games altogether! YEARS of my life...and he just rolled through it like it was nothin. LMAO...crazy.
Back in the day, it took me two years to beat this game, and I was only able to beat it once. I played it recently, and I can't even finish the first stage. Same with Adventure Island. Games we're so hard back then 😉.
I don't know if anyone has asked this, but is that by chance an NES Advantage you play with? I feel like I'd recognize the sound of those action buttons anywhere...
In this old days on a very very lucky day, you would run into someone like this in the arcade, and there will be a big crowd behind him watching. First time I see someone getting to Stage 2. 😂
Damn nice, I wouldn't be able to do that. I wonder how the original NES version holds up, I've only ever played Super GnG and that was a heck of a time.
I've fond memories of this in the arcade but man it's balls hard! Any young folk out there who have never played this it makes dark souls look like Micky mouse
I hated this game as a kid, yet I kept playing it. It was one of those games that the developers made way too hard, especially for us little kids in the 80s.
please tell me someone just came over from the Jario 2v2 on this game at GDQ just to see what an actual advanced speedrun of this wouldve looked like 🤣🤣🤣
This man did in 10 minutes what I couldn't in almost 30 years
Same. 10 freaking minutes...
For real!!! I’m fucking 40 & just started playing GnG again. Wanted to beat the games I couldn’t when I was a kid. This is wild shit.
Whats that, pleasure your wife?

And the tv. Good thing they were alot more durable back then.
I threw my controller into an open fire (fireplace) for about one single second before I realized it was not a good idea
There should’ve been an easy setting
my friend smashed cloud master for sms and buried it
I also lerned this from playing tmnt 1
This game measurably shortened my lifespan as a kid. Nice job, Arcus
So now you're more than adult. You are ancient
@@wrathfirex Only slightly ancient, my older brothers had an NES.

Well said. Arcus is a class act in addition to being the GOAT.
Im almost 38 years old, and your incredible playing made me feel like I beat the game for the first time ever! That was really impressive!
almost 39 now 😅
That music gives me PTSD…. We had this game when we got an NES on Christmas morning and …. Well most of you already know. Thank goodness we got Kid Icarus and Zelda shortly after.
Haha 100% this game was rough back in the day. We didn't have TH-cam helping us. I got to the 3rd stage and that was it. I was only 8. Lol
That squealing the flying red bats gave was horrid
Beating this game is an accomplishment in itself. Beating it in 10 minutes is unreal.
I swear Arcus should be on the cover of moustache magazine
Glorious Arcus, glorious!
Congrats on the huge PB and the deathless Ghosts and Goblins run.
Stuff like this shows why you are the greatest All-Around NES Player active today
One of my favorite NES games. Notoriously difficult.
I'm 42 and still can't beat this one. lol
One of my favorite games of all time and also very difficult. Amazing run as always
Despite the insanity of the play throughs, I always find his content relaxing
Honestly this is (in my opinion) the most impressive speed run by Arcus. They’re all amazing but man this one is personal lol
i take your point, but he has hold NG wr , that`s impressive on its own.
@@raulmorales3742 Yes but this game is harder than NG
Ninja Gaiden is arguably easier than this game
does that really matter? you can get better at a game just by grinding , i just said i like how he plays NG, thats it.
this man grew to became a gamer cowboy and i respect that
Amazing… I’ve never seen anyone kill a red devil with such ease
They honestly arent that difficult to kill.
Wow, super impressive. Mind blown by accepting and keeping the flame. Much respect for the amount of time it takes to make even the hardest games into something laughable.
I’m pretty sure the flame is used by speed runners because it deletes certain bosses
Hey Arcus! I've seen a lot of your speed runs and I'm always impressed by them. I wanted to comment because I love that you called the ghosts burritos, because I always hear people call them hot dogs and I just can't see it as easily as I could a burrito.
Speedrun of a game most couldn't get past the 1st level on. Love it.
I literally got an adrenalin rush from watching this.
Same, pretty sure I was holding my breath for half of those 10 mins…
Amazing run. Thanks for the upload.
This game aggravated me to no end. Big ups.

hi dad
I'm a new subscriber and I love your work. I like how casual you are while dominating the game. And it is funny when you start humming the tunes.
One of the few games from my youth that I never beat, even got close a few times. Major props!
To say impressive isnt enough. Man I was shocked. Greetings from Spain
Arcus said “That scared me so bad” in the most relaxing manner I’ve ever heard. Hahahahaha
i was playing this at age 6 and 7 in 1987. it was legitimately impossible. but i loved it. its so nostalgic. thanks for showing me the ending.
I remember playing for hours and not beating it yet. This game series has got to be one of the most difficult ever.
Ghost N' Goblins on Legend difficulty on the Switch is insanely difficult!!
This is one of the rare games that is incredibly frustratingly difficult and very few people can beat, but yet a fun and classic game. Battletoads is another one that comes to mind.
As someone who's has beat difficult games...this is still one I need to complete
I feel you
I can definitely I will never do it much less in this fashion. Geez it’s like he’s a wizard or something.
@Chill gaming nah this game is harder
Can’t help but think of the AVGN episode. “Get the knife” lol
Man, how did you beat this? You broke all 3 rules of Ghosts 'n Goblins!

1. Get the knife
2. Get the knife

I always love how for an NES game the sound is very Pokemon on GBC like.
This game was insanely difficult for me.
In my childhood I used to get very angry at myself for failing to jump properly unto moving platforms
In my opinion, this game was more difficult than Battle Toads.
Do you think Snake's Revenge was difficult?

It's cool to see you have a hard time with a game 👍
Gg. Thank you for the video. It helped me beat the first loop for the first time today on my wife's birthday. She loves your videos, too, Arcus.
One of the hardest games I’ve ever played as a kid. Never passed the first level.
I find myself mumbling "mash mash mash....aaaand clunk" when I'm pressing buttons on the microwave and closing the door
Arcus is the wizard.
completing this at all is a miracle, let alone doing it in ten minutes
I had no idea there were more levels. Because I could never make it that far. 😥
As a 10 year old I hated this game. At 47, this video proves those feelings remain.
Watching someone do this holds my seven year old self in awe.
En mis 25 años no he podido replicar lo que este hombre hizo en 10 minutos....
Now that's impressive, one of the hardest games ever
After watching this I’ve come to realize for 35 years I’ve been playing this game the wrong way.
That was a great 👍 run.. Nostalgic memories for me.. 😎 Thank you! GG

Super GnG is a trivial game to beat by comparison.
NES GnG is absolutely unforgiving
