The moving diaries is the most realistic series I’ve seen, it feels like just watching a friend. You’ve shown real feelings and experiences that people can actually relate to. Love this series Des!!🩷🩷🩷

Hi Destiny - I love this series. I feel that you are doing an amazing job. Putting yourself out there is so difficult for us introverts. I am 64 years old and still have to talk myself up to do certain things. In a recent year, I bought concert tickets to a person that my husband and I both love, but we live in a teeny tiny town. Literally zero traffic and everyone knows each other. The concert was in San Francisco, 5 hours away. Both my husband and I very nearly talked ourselves out of going. We were so nervous about driving/parking/interacting with people in a big city. We had to talk each other up and tell ourselves that at any point, if we wanted to turn around and go home, we would. Long story short - the show was fabulous and we were both so happy we did it. Baby steps, and keep trying. Take care -

I just moved to a new city two weeks ago by myself - I don't know a SINGLE person here. I was so scared and my heart has been aching for comfort and familiarity and I can relate so much to everything in these moving vlogs. I've been pushing myself to do the same things (going places by myself, meeting new people, etc.) and it is so scary. It's been so comforting to sit down and watch someone going through the same thing as me. It's made me feel less alone, so thank you for being vulnerable and sharing this journey with us!!

Something that has really helped me with feeling uncomfortable in new places and worrying about what people think of me is this. How often are you looking at others and judging them and thinking about what they’re doing?….. like never! Then I realized that that’s the same for everyone else, they don’t care about me or what I’m doing because they’re more worried about themselves. Realizing that nobody is thinking or worrying about me was really freeing.

the anxiety that comes with hanging out with people is SO real and so normal but it’ll get better over time! This series is so comforting bc I’ve also moved out on my own in Austin and even though i’ve been here for years for school, it feels like I’m starting all over again. You got this Destiny and hopefully I’ll run into you at some point at a bookstore or coffee shop :)

Destiny! You are 100% not alone. I get so nervous talking to people, even if I know them. Especially when I talk about myself. Going to places alone and talking to new people is nerve wracking! I asked a guy if I could pet his dog, he said yes! I was so excited and nervous I ended up walking away, thanking him, without ever petting his dog. I still think about that interaction a week later.

Best thing I did this year was joining my local chapter of Silent Book Club. I've made so many friends since joining and I wish I'd known about it sooner. I can't stop telling everyone to join their local chapters. I've always been shy and even though I've lived in my city for almost 14 years, I never had friends to go do things with. It was so nice to go to SBC and feel comfortable around other people who just wanted to read and talk about books. I thought it would be scary or daunting and was nervous the whole ride but now I can't imagine my life without the book club or the new friends I've made. If you keep branching out, I can't recommend Silent Book Club enough to make friends who are also bookish and like reading as much as you! You're doing so good getting comfortable in your new city and I'm really proud of you!!

I recommend Mozart's Coffee Roasters. It's a coffee shop by the lake and it's chill (if you go during the weekday). You can sit outside or inside. I also enjoyed Summer Moon coffee shops in the ATX area. But the traffic is one of the main reasons why I left TX!

Girl I just want to say I appreciate you being vulnerable about friendships because I struggle making friends and I’m in a place where the friends that I did have moved away. I get so anxious thinking about even trying to meet new people. So knowing that someone else also struggles makes me feel less bad about myself.

DESTINY you have to understand how important this video is. I had planned to go to a craft thing and meet completely new people, and I was so nervous. I had just decided to give up when I sat down and watched this video. Seeing you go meet people and practice being uncomfortable made me feel like I could do it. I just got home from it, and it was so great. I joined a club! Social anxiety is so isolating. I'm so grateful for this content. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Thank you for being so vulnerable and open.

This has been my favorite video from your moving diaries.
I also go over every detail, every conversation after hanging out with people, specially if I had adult beverages. I think there’s a term for it, hangxiety. It’s very real, it happens to me all of the time. Thank you for your vulnerability ❤

  • @perriner8120
    @perriner8120 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

I usually don't comment on videos but I just had to say thank you for being so vulnerable ! I already knew i wasn't the only one highly struggling with social interaction especially with stranger, but I thought I was so weird for also being anxious about talking to friends and people i'm quite comfortable with! I will literally sometimes go days without answering their most basic text and try to get out of seeing them because it makes me feel anxioux, even though i know i always end up having a good time with them. So thanks for putting this out there:)
And when it comes to going to new places alone, it's definitly something you have to train, I use to struggle with that but was kind of obligated to do so cause i didnt have many friends to hang out with but didn't want to wait for people to live my life. Now even if i still get a little anxiety, i love doing everything by myself, it's so liberating.
To everyone reading this, be gentle with yourself and remember you are not alone :)

Girl! Same, same, same. I love being by myself, but doing new things by myself is so stressful. I'll risk providing advice that you didn't ask for...go to these places with your BF or friends first. That removes a lot of the unknown. Check out menus before you go so you can decide what to eat or drink before you get there. Remove as much stress as you can. You're capable of doing hard things. Keep pushing yourself while also accepting love/support in your comfort zone.

I love your moving diaries! 🤍🤍 I’m so proud of how you’re doing during this move 😘 but I actually have a book question: what are your top 3 fave books (preferably standalone books) I’m asking my fave booktubers for their top books so I can add them to my TBR 🤍🤍🤍

I moved recently as well, and this series has really helped me because we’ve been going through similar things. It’s so comforting, and refreshing to see someone being so open about these things! Thank you so much Destiny! You’ve got this! 🫶

We need more series like this! Seeing I’m not the only who feels like that makes it feel less alone and that I can do that too. I really enjoyed it and I’m glad your able to take those steps too❤

Well, I will say it again! I’m super proud of you! Like you said. Just one day at a time. Small steps. As you get older things tend to get better with how much you wonder if people like you or what they think about you. Just be yourself always and the true genuine people will be there and stay. Have a very blessed week!
