- We’ve found the most amazing hidden gem in Brazil, a beautiful tropical island in Sao Paulo state called Ilhabela!
As soon as we arrived in Sao Paulo we hopped on a bus and a ferry and made our way to Ilhabela. It took about 5 hours by bus to get there (and a very short ferry ride).
On our first full day there we rent some bikes to explore the island. The main town has fantastic bike paths which made it so easy to get around. We biked outside of town and stopped at some beaches along the way.
Ilhabela seems to have some beautiful metal sculptures throughout the town and along our bike ride we found a whole series together that we think depicts the crucifixion of Jesus.
The bike paths ends at a gorgeous and quiet beach (Praia do Pequeá) that had one restaurant and hardly any other people. Here we flew the drone and enjoyed a caipirinha (a Brazilian cocktail).

On the island's west coast, Ilhabela city is home to the white-and-blue Nossa Senhora d’Ajuda church. In vast, forested Ilhabela State Park, trails lead to Gato and Água Branca waterfalls. Offshore dive sites include the Aymoré and Velasquez shipwrecks.

I've been to Brazil every January (their Summer) since 2015, and I love it there!!! And until I speak, no one looks at me twice, or thinks I'm NOT Brazilian. LOL Last year we went to Ilhablea, and absolutely Loved it! The food in Brazil is Delicious, and there are tons of excellent restaurants all over. The biggest drawback is there aren't that many Brazilians that speak English, but they don't have an "attitude" so they'll try to figure out what you want. You won't be sorry if you go there.

Verdade os turistas só ficam no Rio de janeiro. Dificilmente vão à São Paulo ou nordeste.
I am currently replying to Ilhabella, and I love this island. I am working at São Paulo, and it was pretty easy to get a bus here.
I love the beach and the sea (although it's raining a lot these days), and I love how friendly the people are!!! I would always ask "vôce falo Ingles?" and there will be always someone helping us out and being patient with us gringos!
We will be hiking up to see the waterfall, so wish us luck!

To me it is always interesting to see that Canadians can much more easier pick-up other languages than Americans can. Most Americans only speak English which is a Germanic language. Canadians however are also exposed to French which is a Romance language. Hence they can pick-up Spanish or Portuguese much easier than Americans can. They are also much more able to contort their tongues to speak my language (German) than Americans can who did not have any influence of Romance languages.

Já que o rum é feito de melaço e a cachaça de cana, é um jeito facil de descrever pra eles, pq o rum é mais conhecido pra eles.

hi I'm from Brazil, and I have an advice for you, Rio is too obvious, is where all the tourists go, and you are going to see a stereotipical Brazil that they want you too see, Minas Gerais is one of the best places to go, Ouro Preto, São tomé das Letras, São João del Rei, Barbacena are some of the cities in the state of minas gerais that are worth visiting, and the beaches of São Paulo are the best in my opinion, I'm from Santa Isabel, which is a not so much interesting city from São Paulo LOL. Forgive my english I may have written something wrong. And have fun in Brazil.

Brasil is HUGE! It's as large as the lower 48 here in the USA! You CAN'T cover the WHOLE country (Or even one city like SAO PAULO or Rio De Janeiro!) in one short visit. Glad you enjoyed your trip but truly, you MUST go back several times to REALLY absorb all the culture and the sights.

Ilhabela is awesome place.
A paradise between Rio and Sao Paulo. Have infrastructure as hospitals and quality restaurants , the city is very clean and people are extremely friendly and helpful. High standard place to stay. A lot of businesses people from Sao Paulo and celebrities hide themselves is those big mansions at the mountain at the island. The only problem is you don't want to leave the island anymore...lol

Litoral Norte de São Paulo é simplesmente maravilhoso, praias lindas junto com a mata Atlantica preservada, e Ilha Bela faz parte dessa região que tem mais de 200 Km de praias uma mais linda do que a outra
Fiquei até emocionado com o começo do vídeo de vocês ficou excelente a edição, ainda eu não conheço a ilha bela, mas vou conhecer, fica uma sugestão pra vocês, visitem Arraial do Cabo, Parati, Angra dos Reis e Cabo Frio, todos no Rio de Janeiro, espero que curtam bastante os passeios.

São Paulo is on par with New York or Los Angeles. Pretty safe if you don't go out with a huge golden Rolex and you should be fine.
This in SP state nortshore. I believe that Ilhabela is 200km +- from SP City state capital, which is +-60km far from nearest coastal city, Santos in southshore.
Ilhabela is VERY SAFE! São Paulo is safe enough to you walk around.
