  • I've been wanting to build a new DIY slat wood storage cabinet for our records since we moved into our apartment, but haven't had the chance. Luckily, the first ever storage cabinet I ever built is still standing strong. But, it's finally time for me to make a design I've had in my head come to life for our space. So, I created this slat wood storage cabinet and I am so excited about how it turned out!

Hi friends! Mentioned some dimensions in my video for the lumber I used for the base and the slats, but after listening to myself talk, they may not be accurate. 😂So, if you're looking to build this project, please check out the plans on my website (wp.me/p79fl6-1YJ)!
As always, thanks for being awesome!

Could you make more furniture stands or bases? I love the way they change cabinets, dressers, etc, but I am afraid to make them bc they hold a lot of weight. Can I interest you in making something with a midcentury wood base/stand?

Watching you build the cabinet, and all that goes into it, gives us so much more of an appreciation of the finished piece.
Seriously, you can never get that feeling if you buy something someone else has made.
Awesome piece of work but we all know that off camera it’s your dogs who really built it!

    Bravo !!! Bravísimo !!! I love it !!!
And specially I like your sentence: " We don´t make mistakes, we make happy accidents." !!! It has a profound metaphysical sense, applied here and now, but also everywhere and always; because, as Albert Einstein said: "God does not play dice."
Keep on doing like this, you´re my inspiration, and for sure also for much more people in the world; because you should remember that you´re seen all over the world !!!
    God blesses you !!!

I waited for half an hour to get some cuts made @ HDepot today and then "forcefully" slid the lumber off my cart onto whatever/a door, got a paint sample (bc I'm here) and frantically tried to finish my todos, racing against the clock. Nice job. I wish you had explained the parts that I find the most difficult - getting things to line up and fit. For example, I always have a problem getting those inset hinges to line up with the part that attaches to the cabinet. Also, no matter how carefully I measure, dowel holes never seem to be the same on the two pieces to be joined. A separate video on some of these techniques would be appreciated.

I actually used a spacer on both ends because I knew that I needed vacant space in order for the cabinet doors to open since I was insetting them. I think I actually grabbed the wrong spacer when I was gluing. 😩

Absolutely stunning! All the time and effort you put in to get it right and learn along the way was so worth it for the end result and the joy you will feel every time you use it, every record you listen to (though I'm sure that will wear off as you'll be onto your next project hehe) also your very inspiring, I have built things before in my kitchen as didn't have a yummy workshop like yours 😀 Now I have a bigger shed and am building up my tools, now to heal from Lyme Disease so I've got some energy and wellness to creatively build something, in the meantime, I'll continue watching and being enthused by you and your workshop dances lol. All the best 👍🏻🙋🏼

Amazing project! I really wanna try this! I'm intrigued by the amount of tools you use, do you have a video were you show all your tools? There are some stuff I haven't seen before, like the blue support for making the big holes at 90 degrees (sorry for my lack of vocabulary for this subject). Thank you for sharing!
