About the narrow maze.
What it sounds like to me, is that the narrow maze still has the purpose that visage's lore implies.
The 'eve of the narrow maze' meanwhile is either a challange for souls and the prize is to return to life, allowing them to basically do the maze in referse to come to life again. Or its a day of the year, month, x-cycle where the maze, or its guardians, are at their weakest, thus giving determined souls, like hero souls, the best chance to go through the maze in reverse and escape death, returning to the living.

What if "planes" is the DOTA-world's term for "Dimensions" meaning the membranes are actually walls of reality that differs from plane to plane. In comics, heroes travel to other dimension by either being really fast or using machines and portals. Doom's sword has inscriptions that allow him to break through the membrane of the 7 hells only. Void spirit uses his portal to travel to the void/time realm and Faceless void creates a sphere that "opens" or pushes the membrane in an area, thus revealing part of the void realm where time does not exist... Just a thought
yeah, I head a similar theory that every plane is like a pocket dimension, Umbral Plane being one related to night and Luna.
The mind control part reminds me of a DOTA 1 hidden / old hero. I remember his model is the dragonhawk rider, and his ulti is a channeling spell that allows you to temporarily gain control of target enemy, and one of his normal skills was a passive aura that causes affected enemies to have a chance for their skills to hit a different target than the intended target (like if you hex a Hero you might end up hexing a creep instead).
rewatching this now and starting to realize that the new hero they are talking about in the near-end of the video is the RingMaster
I think slacks is right about the new hero being an official port/remake of his Community Hero Project Parasight. Specially considering how weirdly close Mars is to SUNSfan's hero Jeremy Khan, same hero positioning/initiation 1st skill, damaging AoE with knock-back 2nd skill, a 3rd skill that lets the hero tank damage and finally an arena type 4th skill.

What about Aghanim from Aghanims labyrinth?
@@Crys582 Its probably too early for them to release Aghanim in the base game considering there still plenty other named items in dota. Like armlet of Mordiggian, the Black King from BKB, Eul's scepter of divinity, Linken's Sphere and others that seems like a type of creature instead like the heart of Tarrasque (A tarrasque is apparently some kind of dragon). And then there are others items from other mythologies like Mjollnir and Shiva's which means the entire nordic pantheon and hinduism exist somewhere in the dota universe.
Also since Vladimir's Offering is an item, fucking RUSSIA exist somewhere in the dota world.

Few notes from my point of thinking: Demons vs Devils: I think that in Dota2, Demons are really big term. I think the abyssal horde are demons, the nevermore disciples are demons, the warlock golems are demons, the succubi are demons and the devils are another kind of demons (maybe term for demons of specific plane of hell). The fall of Stonehall is also quite logical, Underlord attack the City, Legion rush back to fight him, they fail and almost all die but UL is forced to retreat (almost killed by LC) and the Red mist pillage and destroy what is left. (Like fall of Rome, empire was attacked and ruined by Huns and Vandals but Goths finnished the job) I also think that lot´s of planes(like umbral, Abyssal) are just different names for the seven rings of hell. Yeah that´s all from me
Here`s a headcannon:
The Umbral Plane is just one of the Seven hells, same as the abyssal plane.
The labarynth is simply the entryway and connects all of them. Dead Souls start at the very bottom and escaping it means you make it out the top.
The "Which one are you again?" line can be referring to some kind of twin hero, which can be swapped mid-game.

the first level of hell is Foulfell (which is a prison for demons, and is or presumed to be a level of hell)

As for it not being an insta revive, of course, Techies being Techies, kabloeys a few time just for the heck of it, eats a banana, slips on the peel and finally gets yeeted by Razor to the Respawn Portal.

In Chinese mythology, Monkey King erases his name from the Book of Life and Death
1- This is DOTA lore. while it might be inspired by mythology, it's not and should not be the same.
2- Razor writes the names of the dead heroes ("People, creatures") in "THE book of the dead" and not "Book of the dead"
this may seem like a stretch, but in DOTA the items and artifacts can be remade and created
like Aghanim's scepter, which we now know that every single Aghanims scepter that was ever bought by a hero was a knockoff
so the book of the dead is most likely a recreation of the actual book of the dead.
also, the Necronomicon was in the game since ages, is also referred to as "The book of the dead" in mythologies
so yeah this is just valve adding way too little to the lore of everything cause they are a bit lazy and want it to stay vague

I KNEW IT! I KNEW THAT UNDERLORD WAS THE ENEMY LEGION FIGHT IN HER LORE! That make perfect sense lore vise and gameplay wise: underlord is the perfect counter to legion: he lower her attack, can block when she's approching (or retreating), and he can help allies in duel or eve blocking duel completly thanks to his ultimate. Sort like Tusk-Bristle

I've also been wanting a mind-control hero even before I heard about the voice lines, I don't think any moba has an ability or character like that, mostly because their game systems aren't as flexible as dota.
I thought the main mind-control ultimate could be more of a channeled ability which takes control but also silences the target. There would be talents that remove the silence (maybe seperates ability cooldowns), a talent that changes it to a duration ability (instead of channeled) so that you can control both your and an enemy hero at once, etc. As a channel ability it feels like a hybrid of Bane and Winter Wyvern's ultimates, so it could be played as a support hero.
Though I also really like the ability set you came up with Slacks!
It would be cool if the hero can create the exact illusion of that hero with all the skills while the hero that was being copied will be stuck in a hypnotized (sleep) state, unable to attack or be attacked. The hero will be awake in maybe after 30 secs or if the illusion dies rendering him useless when the illusion is not killed immediately.
I was thinking like a beam comes out of the heroes head and goes into the hero they're controllings head, kind of like pugna ult, so it's super obvious and you can control the enemy hero while you're channeling
I also like that mind controlling hero but I don't want it to work like how naix do it in creeps. So yeah I think it would be better if it is a channelled ability like bane's so that it won't feel so bad if you're against that hero because your allies can interfere

It seems like the unknown hero is multiple characters as one hero, like alchemist and techies. In this case it would be two heroes, probably both inventors, considered partners and gets called lovers based on the unused lines.

Now with the anime series ended (a loregasm for the anime would be much appreciated) it seems the mystery hero is Fyrmryn, not directly from the series, but maybe few years later when she learned more stuff like giving mene control over her for more power, or learned how to use mind control herself

I think the abyss is the smaller subterranean place you initially described. I think currying favor with it implies an alliance with the army. Just because Underlord was in the council and honorary demon doesn't imply a perfectly peaceful relationship. I think they saw him as a potential ally, and his army as a potential tool in a civil war or coup.

I do believe the abyssal plane stretches a bit further down to the narrow maze. Underlord might be a leader of the abyss and having te strongest army but it sounds to me he is leader but he hasn't complete power over the abyss, which is where Avernuss and Pugna caverna sit on

I wonder if the devs of dota 2 is really making some genuinely unique lore or just dumping some random information on heroes and items from some whatever sources?
At the very beginning, it had some lore planned since the writer for the game was the dude who wrote Half Life, and he's an amazing writer, he even wrote EVERY hero voiceline until that point. After he retired, they stopped caring about it, and recently, when they hired writers for Artifact, they started trying to make sense of it, but it's already kind of a mess as it is. It's hard to make it cohesive since dota heroes are just a bunch of D&D characters put together, so their lores doesn't fit a single coherent world.
A few months later Hoodwink came out so i think QOP's lines were meant for her. It fits.

Narrow Maze is a summer event. Probably created by Aghanim.
Axe dying ones but has aegis of the immortal. Axed resurrected and died again and participated the Narrow Maze. Probably with or after MK. Escaping it by erasing his name from the book of the dead.
This makes the voice line true. He can never die and probably punch death in the face.
Other planes are probably the 7 hells. The ruling leaders whom are in the court of ristul.
As long as the new hero(es) isn't the Gamber. Ogre is annoying enough as it is.
Another hero could be Aghanim himself.
Or the other one could be VS's miscarried baby when she fell from grace. Its Skywrath's and VS's dead baby.

That small animal with freakishly large eyes is the southeast asian Tarsier. They are leaping primates that feed on insects and on occasion juvenile snakes and small birds. Note that this animal is critically endangered with varying factors mainly poaching and captivity. Why captivity you may ask is because the Tarsier has one bizarre behavior; when agitated, stressed or held in captivity they commit suicide by repeatedly bashing their heads and because of their large eyes its skull's structure is particularly weak making head trauma a common cause for death among this animal.

Can u do a headcannon on how Aghanim ****ed Storegga the tiny boss. It's been bugging me.
I said this in Slacks' stream when he was first reviewing all the info and he didn't notice it, but my theory for the mind control based hero is based on a couple things. One, what entities in the dota world do we know of that already exert their will upon other beings, even Heroes? The ancients. This leads in to Two, who do we have as candidates for avatars of the Ancients? Kanna and Prellex from Artifact, who both conveniently have abilities and spells that command creeps, directing them where to go and exerting a form of control over them. But the big one that puts it on the map in my eyes? Slacks wasn't giving you the full picture when he mentioned the file locations for the new hero voicelines. Yes, they are based on numbers, but they are also sorted alphabetically. The lines for mind control were smack dab in the middle between Clockwerk and Crystal Maiden. Now, obviously it would be weird if Kanna were on Radiant or Prellex were on Dire, right? So my theory, is that the internal name of the hero(es) is "_creep" which would fit right between those two heroes, and it changes between Kanna or Prellex based on what faction you fight on with roughly similar if not identical abilities, perhaps with different particle effects or whatever to fit with the aligned faction. We can infer Kanna at least has some powers that can influence others, whether it be magical or charismatic, she was able to influence Earthshaker, who admits it in his lore in Artifact for his hero card, not to mention Wei (the AM persona that was since released while this video was in development) refers to ES as the "Pawn of Kanna". The usage of the term "pawn" could just be a pejorative in this case, but I believe it is because she influenced him.
In short: the mind control hero is Prellex/Kanna, swapping dependant on what faction you play on.

Ok I think I can get some order on the planes stuff, remember how D&D has also tons of plains of existence, according to the alignment of the characters, there we got devils (bathor or the 7 hells) and we got demons on the Abyss, we also have a Neth which is a demiplane meaning it exist in between planes, and an Astral plane that is a kind of outer space between the planes and worlds of the prime material plane.
There's something like it in dota I think, courts are something only lawfull creatures will do that's why demons got one but true chaotic creatures wouldn't there we have another race and plane of existence, pure chaos, we can think of the narrow maze as a path between the planes and the underscape as the shadow fell which in DnD is the passage to the negative planes, there you got like 7 planes that have different beings with different alignments, from lawful to chaotic.

My take;
You die you go to the Underscape. At specific times the Narrow Maze opens; the dead are forced to walk through it and "escape". This event is a fun distraction for the Lords (various demons) of Underscape's largest city Ristul, and is overseen by Razor (not a Lord himself but a sort of functionary). If you fail you are sent to hell. If you manage to get through you get to go to heaven.
But there is a third option; you can also try to escape the maze without winning or losing which results in returning to the real world. When this happens Visage is sent to bring you back to the Underscape to make you walk the Narrow Maze until your final resting place is decided.
But why would the demons set up an event that might let people go to heaven? The fun of the event for the Lords/Demons is the dead's hope that they might reach heaven; bad so few do. It is another form of torment.
The Abyssal plane is one of the hells. The Umbral plane is another. It stands to reason that the demons wouldn't call their home "hell".
