- In this video tutorial I teach you how to take the pair of white leggings I taught you how to make in this video ( • How to make leggings- ... ) and tie-dye them using RIT dye to add a funky pair of custom leggings to your wardrobe. This is a beginner project and kid friendly.
You don't need any fancy equipment to dye your clothes. The supplies you will need for this method of tie dyeing are:
• Plastic drop cloth to protect work surface
• Gloves
• Rubber bands
• Garment you will dye
• Hot water
• Bowl or container for dye bath
• RIT dye in color of your choice
• salt (optional)
• tiny bit of dishwashing soap (optional)

I never would have thought to use RIT to tie-dye!! I am so excited to try it this way it wil be soo much cheeper then buying the kits at the craft store! which means we will be doing much more tye-dying this summer!! Thank you for making this video~~wanna be a hippie mama and her 2 mini-me's
Love the Tie Dye leggings - takes me back to my teenage years. My girls will love these. Heading out to get some some stretch fabric right now.
Definitely my white leggings, then maybe I'll make a white shirt filling your t-shirt video and do that too! Can't wait to start. Would love to win this one! Got my fingers crossed lol! Thanks Ritz for all your great colors. I've used then to darken faded black jeans before. Worked Perfectly and was so easy. For them, I just added die to my washing machine, let it sit with the jeans for about 5 minutes, then ran the cycle. When it was done, checked the jeans, and then washed normally.
I just bought ,y first thing of RIT dye the other day. I actually had sent my hubby to the store for some fabric dye to tie dye and that is what he bought.. I thought it was a mistake! So thanks so much for posting this, as now I know I can use it! Love your channel!!
Just read some comments, I would also love to learn how to dye with multiple colors. Could never figure that one out! Feel like doing another video? Could probably find one on TH-cam but love your vids better. You are an amazing instructor!
I would tie dye a plain tote bag ( hand made or bought) for books and pe kit at school, tie dye is really popular at the moment I love your videos

Great tutorial! I have a shawl I knit that I love but wish it had some color to it; I'd definitely give tie-dyeing it a shot!
I love this vid. I have a pair of white leggings that have gotten a little dingy with time, so I'm gonna dye them a pretty teal color.
I would love to try dying something, maybe upcyle or refashion something, give a favourite t shirt a new lease of life! When a little braver I would love to tie dye a maxi dress, perfect for the summer! Thank you for your tutorials, I love your "down to business" and easy style, you have demystified quite a few things for me. :))
Hi Vanessa! This is an easy one! I think I could do my kiddo's T-shirts and tunic so she rocks in school! Thank you! Iryna
Great tutorial (as always). I have two sweaters I knit/crocheted out of a linen yarn that I need to dye but have been scared. You make it look easy. Thanks for the chance to win!

I just subscribed! I loved your tie-dye video! I have some white leggings & three white shirts that I've been wanting to dye & been afraid to! You made it look SO easy!!! The shirts are cotton tube top/tank top type things. But I'm not good with white, so like I said I've been thinking about dying them. I also have linen table cloth, that is a really pale off white & I hate the color. I've been looking for a new look for my sewing room windows! That would be cool! Pink? Purple? Green?
I would make my life more colourful and play around with different styles xx Odeta xx
Thanks for demonstrating this! I wil definitely be dyeing some t shirts for my daughter and grandaughters! Love the ending! Do you have name for your ducks?
My first project will be a tye-dye dress for my best friend~!

I'm a quilter and I would use it to make my own fabric design using muslin. Love the ducks, lol.
Family tie die tshirts a of course! :-) My son did this project in school & is completely facinated with it & is always asking to do it at home. I figure it will be one of our projects this summer (wheth free or not ;-) )

I cannot wait to try this one with my girls!! They are going to love it!! Thanks for the video, and all that you have posted!!
I want to make ombre-dyed tights & socks. My friend sent me a link today to a pair that was $40, and I was like "um, that's really pretty and ridiculously expensive. Me and some Rit dye will do it better for less." Mind you, I've never done any dying except some tie-dye at camp, but I really want to try! I did a search for Rit dye, saw your video on their website, and serendipity ensued. In case anyone else is interested in ombre dying, Rit has a walk through on their website.
Thanks for sharing. If I win, I would make tie dye summer dress for my daughter and tie dye shirts for my son. Thanks again.
How fun is this! I already subscribe to you. I am going to have to try this for my girls and granddaughter. Thanks for sharing and thanks to Ritz for opportunity to win some dye.
I will be trying your tie die method on most of my t-shirts, I can't seem to keep from messing up my shirts, so I figured tie dieing them would cover any mess ups. What I mean about mess ups are bleach spots, oil spots. I am a soap maker, and I clean with bleach water. So needless to say I have a lot of shirts that are ruined by bleach,
Bye for now,
Lori
I am moving soon and i was hoping with the dye, i could have a get together with my friends and we could make t shirts or leggings together! I t would be a really cool project and i could have a final memory with them :)
First Love your ducks! The first thing I'd try is my white T-shirt
I was waiting like for Eva finally
another great tute! love the leggings, reminds me of my high school years when tye dye was "in"...lol...first thing I would try to dye is some muslin to make my own fabric for quilting...sometimes its so hard to find the exact color needed and dye could remedy that! btw, LOVE the ducks in background
I loved the ducks!! How are your baby goats doing?
I would use the dye for my daughters khimars (head scarfs) that way she can be cool!!!! Lol by the way love your yard and duckies!!!

I'd use the dye on the blue jean shorts I just bleached to make them a fun spring/summer color

Loaded your App right now.....thank you !!!!!!! cool stuff !!!!
OMG are those the baby ducks from last year? The leggings turned out really cute. I can see some leggings and cotton tie dye shift dresses (upcycled plain white twin sheets) in my summer wardrobe. Thanks Vanessa.

Great video!! I think I will try to ombre dye a t-shirt, sweater or maybe some sneakers =D
If you live in the US you can buy it at any supermarket, CVS, Walgreens, etc
I've had a dye project for ages which I've never done. My boyfriend is rather tall, with strong walking legs, but he's not fat at all which means buying trousers is a nightmare. They're always baggy round his waist and tight round his thighs. He would Love a black pair of Jeans but we've never found a pair that fits and I don't feel confident enough (yet!) to make him a pair so I plan to buy a blue denim pair that fits him and dye them black!
I love your Ducks! They're so cute :D
Making these leggings in every color!
You look so very cute. This really helps me on how to do this. Sweet!
That is good to know bout the salt.
LOL at the ducks..=D loved this video & you
Hummm I would dye something pink for my granddaughter for sure
