One of the best live shows I've seen. A band that was wronged by a big hit ("In the Summertime") and characterized as a pop band. I can't describe them, maybe I should say, excellent, amazing, fantastic; I don't know, I just listen to them and let my imagination run wild.
Since 1973 i hearthis great Singer and his music, but today over 50 yeras i see a concert in 1973 - meine Jugend. Great Äxel from Germany Altenkessel/Backnang.
Well people, this is a history lesson. Ray Dorset was so out there, just as I imagined he would have been. Since I was just 15 in 1973 and without youtube or internet or anything, our senses were much sharper in drawing info from the music, tv and magazines. Dorset is incorrigible... no inhibitions... fun guy and copy cat who uses every trick to woo his audience, just love his get up and go style. He is truly about letting the hair down, pulling no stops. Life must have been a gas for these high prized entertainers. What does this tell you about correct timing, knowing your audience and allowing yourself to be just who you are or transform yourself into whatever takes your fancy. Dorset would be an excellent teacher in how to market yourself to make the most of life, without killing yourself and keeping your body in reasonable nick. Dorset turned 69 a coupe of days ago. Good on ya Ray. Keep on rocking. Smiles. Peace, bro.
You must have been born the same year as me and I totally agree with you Stan.I was born in 58 too.19 that is of course.Peace to you bro in our dotage.
I was 10 when this happened. They used to play summertime an AM radio. Had me thinking this was pop music. Way off! This is too good for AM or FM for that matter. ROCK ON Jerry!
cinnamon girl I saw them outside haworth railway station. I was walking to the shop and saw a band playing outside the railway station, was hungover and thinking of mungo jerry , and it actually was ! Wow happy happy days.
I remember this whole concert extremely well (considering). Watched it on TV though, and in black and white - it happened a year before colour TV was officially introduced in Norway.
I only came across Baby Jump relatively recently when you tube served it up on a plate to me - I never knew they did "allright allright" either. Fantastic songs.
i guess im asking randomly but does anyone know a method to log back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid forgot my account password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me.
@Curtis Nash thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and Im in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
I am so guilty of thinking this band was only "In the summertime" pop thing. A testimony of so much wrong the radio has done to all the great bands whose greatest work remained hidden and we only now discover it thanks to youtube!
This is just terrific. I can't believe fifteen people gave this a thumbs down. No accounting for some people. I was six at the time and I doubt my parents would have taken me to this show, especially considering that we lived in the northeastern U.S. at the time. The real tragedy of the '70s was that this music was supplanted by disco, the hippie movement's complete antithesis. The BeeGees this is not. These guys rocked hard. Thanks for sharing this.
I was born in 1971 and my recollection of the 70's was a fun time. Bikes with banana seats, Elvis, Eviel Knievel, Charlies Angels etc. My first record ever was The Bay City Rollers...lol. My older brother bought it for me because I was a kid and he thought I'd like it. Justin Biebers of the 70's. Luckily I listened more to his Rush, Boston and ACDC records.
Fuck off. The current day is always the best day for music because you have everything that has been previously made up to this day so that you can pick what you want to listen to. Hate this lewronggeneration bullshit.
Jason Furler you're a moron. By living now you can enjoy any music you liked from any of the former decades as well as find artists from today. there are millions of artists that dont belong to the very tiny mainstream radio music
after watching the Alex Harvey clip from this same festival , wow ! not too hard to see what a real frontman looks like . Alex was/is pure genius , incredible
THIS MTHR FCKR (in the most respect one has) LOVE IT THE WHOLE BAND JUST PUTS IT TOO 11 AND FLOORS IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im 53 and still learning rock n roll
Bob daisley was the bassist and songwriter for all of ozzy osbourne hits, and was the bassist for ,black sabbath, rainbow, gary moore, uriah heep ,yngwie malmsteen
+Lise Magnusson Well, depending on where you were born, you'd never hear anything about this band....and no internet to even explore these bands. So yeah, it would've been cool to see them in their haydays, but nowadays is actually alright, if you find the right people.
Unfortunately I, at the time, I only knew the hit In The Summertime. At this time little it reached us. We were in the military dictatorship - repression and misinformation. Had forgotten this wonderful music; the internet is wonderful in this regard. Sorry Google English.
Interesting how the crowd was 50 meters away from the stage there. They must have learned a few security things from Woodstock, Altamont and Isle of Wight festivals
From 1973? Crazy man! Great footage!! Wow...there must have been some serious smoking going on, if ya know what I mean! hehehe!!! Look at the crowd! I'm white, but just curious, are there black people in Norway??? Just trying to find out the demographics! (In The Summertime...best ever!!!!!) Thank you, Mungo Jerry! You are precious!!! Wish I was a little older when when you came onto the scene...would have definitely been one of your groupies!!! Live long and prosper, Mr. Mungo
Seeing and hearing this makes me really miss the old days!

Holy crap this is brilliant. was just trawling Mungo jerry and found this. Bloody epic!!
It's 2023 and mungo Jerry will never get old for me. Especially that they did in the streets in 1970, entitled in the summertime
I remember those great concerts of mungo jerry unforgettable 😍👍🏼

wow i thought mungo jerry only had the hit in the summer time, but these guys are great, i love theyre music.
All their music is awesome! Ray has his distinctive style, a very talented muso, entertainer, great band!
Mungo jerry for me has always been in the summertime. Still a lot to learn.
How do you mean?
In the summertime isnt even his best song,
I was 10 when this happened. They used to play summertime an AM radio. Had me thinking this was pop music. Way off! This is too good for AM or FM for that matter. ROCK ON Jerry!
What a great show Ray puts on ...would loved to have seen him back in the day!

Alright alright alright . I heard it on an advert on tv . Linked in . A social media business platform. MADE ME WAKE UP . I'M IN 😍
I just love that energy

Thank you, awesome 😅 excellent great music!!!💖🥰🎼💎🎶💯💥🥁🎸🥰🔊🔥👌👍
Bob daisley on bass, writer of crazy train, flying high again, Mr Crowley....etc
Didn't know that
Daisley is a massive talent... if only Mungo Jerry could have used some of Bob's lyric writing talents
wicked find ! crazy to think this is as old as I am thank you momma for bringing me up with good stuff like this.
No bullshit. Just great vibes.
Lol
Look at all that hair! Would've loved to have been there. A little gem in history.
Yea and you probably would like the smell too?

Don't knock the Bee Gees. Their 60's stuff was epic.
At about 14 minutes, it gets a little rapey.
Stoned out of his mind likely and lots of fun! Back when bands played their instruments and rocked! Another place another time.
Exact, c'est vraiment bien bon. Dommage que ce genre là ne soit plus.
GOTTA LOVE THE FELLAS IN THE AUDIENCE WITH THEIR HEAVY METAL HAIRSTYLES LONG LIVE MUNGO JERRY KING OF THE SIDEBURNS
That was the era man. Great times to be had. Many say the 80”s were the best, they obviously were way too young in the 70’s 😉
good to see HH amps they are cool. great performance by the boys
Thanks for this fantastic upload. I knew these 3 videos but it is a great pleasure to have it in one part.
A very underated band
It's raging having missed this... I was just a few years too young.
+Catarina Olsson I feel your pain, it would be a blast having attended the festival!
For sure, I would have loved it !! :)
jah
ive never seen so many people at a concert not pay attention while the band is playing . . . wow
Day time openers at a festival.
I didn’t know that Mungo Jerry used HH IC100 amps until I saw this. So awesome 👏
1 minute & 30 seconds is all you need..... this guy IS mungo jerry.

Is it sad that even being born in the 90s i can safely say i miss the 70s?

That's pretty cool, Jason. I'm so glad to have grown up in that decade. And you did too if that's how you feel inside.

You must be drunk if you think the current day is the best for music. Go home and get some rest. Alternatively if you're not drunk, go get smart.

They played a gig in our park in 1973. Had a chat with the band afterwards. Happy 15 year old 😀

I was about 6 years old in 73 and my parents used to play Mungo jerry records during weekend Party's lol good times

J. C. Ritton you are so damn right
Cool man. 😎 🤟
Would love to meet the man himself 💪
Interesting how the crowd was 50 meters away from the stage there. They must have learned a few security things from Woodstock, Altamont and Isle of Wight festivals
Europe knew and knows how to do festivals, not the states. The states are great for cookie cutter stadium tours.
And hes still goung strong, amazing.
Much, much more to offer than the one song that everybody knows

No there is no black people in Norway.
Mostly all Nordic peoples
Mostly all Nordic peoples
At that time all was white in Norway. But now things change. In the countryside almost all is white still
Well, lots of people from Pakistan came to Norway, specially Oslo to find work at that time, but yes, mostly Norwegians there I would presume.
very very good

This is how rock should loook like! Energy, masculinity and unshaved armpits! Equal to Solo of Carlos Santana at woodstock. Perfection!
so feminine women cannot play rock, is that what you`re implying?

Growin' up I always thought that Dorset's name was Jerry and with his look and the way he acted earned him the honorary title of 'Mungo' .
Those were the days.

At 8:30 i think the wing nut came loose, because the drummer was chasing the crash around as it flailed away.
