    Thanks for the video. I like that I can do at least a little of this in a short amount of time. I'll often grab the sticks and go through these movements while I'm waiting for something to heat in the microwave.

    If someone, "surprizes" you with a knife, where are the sticks located? Up your sleeves? So they can be used in

    • @pasquinilli
      @pasquinilli  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Timmy. I don’t recommend carrying them unless you really want to. I train with sticks so I can pick up a stick or roll up a magazine or use a utensil or something that is like a stick. It’s just an additional tool and not meant to replace anything else. Great question. Thanks!

    In most states, use of any weapon or object that can be construed as a weapon can be used against you as a misdemeanor awarding you up to a year in prison and thousands in fines as well as possible lawsuits. Even in self defence you are vulnerable to legal ramifications. Google this. More states allow open carry than use of non lethal weapons in combat self defence or not. It is deceiving and even disingenuous to teach using weapons without a legal disclaimer. A true martial artist is respectful of laws. Assault is a serious crime and any weapon used even in self defence leaves you vulnerable to legal accountability regardless of your part in the conflict. I am an empty hand fighter so I'm not into the preparation argument trying to defend using weapons that can be construed as assault weapons. I am also trained with weapons. I just don't use them in public or condone anyone else using them without understanding the lead in their state.

    • @pasquinilli
      @pasquinilli  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. It’s is wise to know the law and to know your rights. Just as important as being prepared to physically defend yourself when others won’t or can’t.

    • @cpkoste
      @cpkoste 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pasquinilli preparation does not justify teaching something to novices without a disclaimer of the misdemeanor assault laws in your state. Please teach correctly and comprehensively as this is a very litigious culture. I have heard of intruders successfully suing property owners for getting hurt while intruding. I see this same issue with fma people who post eskrima stuff with no disclaimers.

    • @pasquinilli
      @pasquinilli  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@cpkoste I will try and work in a disclaimer in the future. I think that is a good idea. I only advocate for self defense. I mention that over and over. I also think that in our “litigious society”, we still need to have common sense and strive to do the right thing. It is a God given right to defend yourself. Man’s laws may not be fair and can be manipulated by a greedy litigator for sure, but right is right.

    • @cpkoste
      @cpkoste 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I understand the need for martial knowledge. I grew up fighting. I have come to understand laws very well. I used knuckles, batons, retractable batons, butterflies, switchblades, etc...all illegal. And anything resembling them used in combat can be construes as assault with a weapon. Misdemeanor but still carries jail time and fines. Heaven forbid a Westerner break any assault laws overseas. Asian constables would love nothing more than to jail a Westerner and bilk him for all he has. Thank you for considering my concerns sifu.

    • @VTPSTTU
      @VTPSTTU 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What really needs to happen is for this country's attitude about self-defense to change. We have to stop being sympathetic to the criminals and to become completely on the side of defenders regardless of what tools they use to defend themselves. Legislators who refuse to repeal these laws need to be kicked out of office. District attorneys who prosecute people for defending themselves need to be kicked out of office. Judges who allow lawsuits against those who defend themselves need to be impeached. The time for coddling the criminals should be finished. Regular people who are not long-time martial artists should be allowed to use whatever tools are at hand to defend themselves against the trash of our society.
      If I'm on a jury, I'm voting not guilty for any defendant who uses anything in self-defense.
      Martial artists who defend the status quo of favoring thugs and criminals over good people trying to defend themselves with whatever tools are available are unethical. I would never support that kind of martial artist in any way. Their schools should be identified, and students should withdraw and go to places that support self-defense by the innocent.

    Great technique for last ditch. Best to be armed with a firearm. Avoid non-permissive environments.
    Not knocking Kali one bit, it is awesome!

    • @pasquinilli
      @pasquinilli  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Tinman. I train a lot of both armed and unarmed. And weapon retention is critical if you concealed carry.

    • @Nobody13325
      @Nobody13325 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pasquinilli I train a lot with emphasis on weapon retention. I also emphasize good situational awareness. Along with contact shooting to the pelvic area. Kind of a push away and, shooting from the 1 position. Then progressing through as I open up the distance.
      Just one of many technique’s. I can also see a huge use for Kali as well. Also looks like it would help me with my neck issues.
