The Faroe Islands is not “owned” by Denmark, but part of the Danish Kingdom/Commonwealth - as is Greenland. Their own countries in their own right - brothers and sisters in North:)

I saw her live at Union Chapel in London a few years ago. The sound in that church venue was amazing. I also saw her play with John Lunn at Heaven in London. both were brilliant shows.

Eivor is my favorite vocalist by far! As a woman and a singer myself, I somehow am reminded of my own strength while traveling back in time when I listen to her. Singing along with her (or trying to) is like a balm to my soul! As for The Last Kingdom, it's the best show you haven't watched/heard of that you should definitely be watching--Destiny is All! Also, I personally have moved away from pop music over the years to soundtracks; however, I've never seen your channel before. New sub! I love John Lunn and Bear McCreary, and I look forward to more suggestions from your channel as well. Great reaction, BTW! It's always amazing to live vicariously through someone else for a moment as they experience Eivor for the first time. I have the greatest respect for her and hope to see her live someday!

...did have opportunity to meet Eivor some 2 years ago in Manchester before the show, she is very nice lady with good sense of humour... :))) I am 80-ies and classic rock fan, but this lady got to my No.1 in a matter of 2 months!

@@soleywolfgangsdottir True Love! Of course! Super song, super creative video! Just... I was a bit disappointed about the long version of "True Love" short-movie... no hints of melodies of this beautiful song in there? For some strange reason I wasn't super familiar with Gloomy Sunday and Ginman collaboration. But thanks, very nice - reminds me a lot of Mannabarn/Human Child album :)

The sounds she is producing with the inhale and exhale is called Throat singing. It is found in many cultures including Faroe Islands. Eivor is a beautiful person in every way. Even Elizabeth was shocked when she heard it. A decent and respectful reaction by all. Thanks!

The Faroe Islands are 18 islands. Not 1 island. The Faroe Islands are a colony of Denmark and the population are descendants of Vikings and Celts. The Faroese have their own language, which is a Nordic language. So it is not so strange that Viking and Celtic tones are very dominant in Eivør's songs. She has an amazing voice.
And the song you are listening to is sung by Eivør in Faroese. The old North Atlantic language that the Faroese speak on a daily basis and which is their first language.

Eivor became the co-composer for the series with John Lunn. He invited Eivor for a jam after seeing her singing on a youtube video. It became a long jam. A great musical partnership. Eivor also appears in the series at the beginning of series 5 from memory.

@@soundtrackscores agnes obel is also doing a lot of music for movies and series. fuel to fire is used for different productions. the latest one is tár with cate blanchett.
and anna von hausswolff is also doing a lot of scores for movies and series. one of my favourit songs by her is stranger, live. it was used for one of the final scenes in killing eve. her sister is a well known film maker and shoots all her epic music videos, for example come wander with me, evocation or the mysterious vanishing of electra. anna also made the music for a movie called the most beautiful boy in the world and if i'm not mistaken for godland.
while agnes music is precisely layered and composed - kind of woven, and perfectly played live, annas music is of a certain rawness. she is a genre of her own, with many different facettes. she also made music for the royal swedish ballet.
