Close, it was 17 years, but part of that time, he met with Aragon and tasked him to search for Gollum to get more answers. Aragon finally found him. And Gandalf had to threaten him with fire before he told him anything. This whole scenario will soon become a new movie in a few years, currently called: The Hunt for Gollum. Can't wait! There is already a pretty good version done by independent fans that I recommend. Search for The Hunt for Gollum and check it out! Cheers.
I think it was 17 years, if I remember correctly from the books. But yes, he was studying on the matter for quite a long time. He actually came back to the Shire several times, too, to ask Frodo questions and to study the ring.
*What do you see? An old man? Well, yes! One whose body has aged a thousand times over, heavy with the burden of saving the world of men.. But look closer, beyond the weathered visage and timeworn robes, within the frail form dwells a beautiful ancient and immortal spirit. His eyes, deep pools of wisdom, shimmer with the light of ages past and the promise of futures yet to come. He is angelic, a beacon of hope in the darkest of times. His presence is a blessing, a testament to goodness and purity that transcends the mortal coil. In every whispered incantation and gentle gesture, Gandalf weaves a tapestry of magic and grace, reminding the world of the enduring power of light and love.
Gandalf spent 2,019 years in Middle-earth, constantly learning, studying, and engaging with the various peoples and cultures of the land. His research and study during this time were extensive and multifaceted.
When I was in the ninth grade (I love the LOTR, but at that time it was only a vauge name of pop culture as I had never seen the films or read the books at that time) my English teacher was awesome, and a fan of fantasy and LOTR. We had open discussions during class and it came up several times during the year a basic pop culture refrence that I didnt understand, so he would list many things everyone but me and my brother knew. It would last mintues sometimes interrupting class. 😅 I had a lot of responsibilities and TV was not one of them, so without music, film, or reading for pleasure I was out of the loop in many ways, but the point is, One day he was grading papers while we worked and he stamped some of them. He was grading his AP seniors class exams, and I figured the stamp was based on a different grading process. I handed him my work and he asked me to put his fresh stack on his other desk in the back of the classroom. I could not help but ask what the stanp was. I didnt get the refrence of a tiny wizard with a stick with the famous words, "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" I thought it was rather mean for such a nice teacher, then he looked at me with patient compassion when he remembered I had little actual pop culture knowledge and simply said "no, don't worry, they will know what that means." Ominous. Then he leaned in and said, "I only give that stamp to people who did exceedingly well on their exams." He smiled and I was still perplexed. I only has him for one semester before I moved, and now that I finally got the refrence, I have even more respect for him going out of his way yet again to make people smile and engaged, and wish I could be a student in his class again. He was one of the few greats.

Miss the days when people who actually had the passion to adapt books faithfully took over Hollywood thanks to Peter Jackson. Now everything sucks again.
EVERYTHING doesn’t suck again, and Hollywood is not the only place movies are made. While Dune is a Hollywood production, there’s also been Capote’s Women, The Expatriates, and Turtles All the Way Down. Little Women and The Call of the Wild were also done. Again. Look up books made into movies on the last few years if you’re interested.
Well, Mike Flanagan, who's an extraordinarily talented film maker, is currently involved with the production of a new adaptation of Stephen King's Dark Tower series which, given Flanagan's track record, should be phenomenal. But yeah I see what you mean. Most directors today are only in it for the money unfortunately. Pity.
I went to bed early last night because I was heartbroken. I didn't expect to feel this much pain. My experience was very hard, and I cried myself to sleep. Maybe I am definitely depressed. No counseling could ease this pain. What happened has already happened. And it was unexpected and really upset me. Life is really cruel.
@@Symbology-Cinematics Thank you for your concern! I know the pain can be very uncomfortable, but I will try to get through it. I am grateful to have you by my side and will try to listen to what my body needs. I believe things will get better.

Heard that in the books Gandalf went and studied for 18 years to determine whether Frodo's ring was that one.

yeah but it wasnt one stretch , he travelled and did many other things while his study
And he went looking for Gollum
17 years mate. Frodo had turned 50 when the wizard came back. Good old days..

The only way to stay young, is to die young. We should appreciate the age of men.

This is magically melancholic and it tugs my heart strings. Beautiful.

Yass 😄
That one page must be very interesting, he read it for 3 hours straight!
Maybe that's why it took him 17 years to learn about the ring 🤔
