      @@jestinmorse8248 It should be a blast, I originally built a stroker and it was ok. But then I put 1 tons, and 40 inch tires, and it was not ok anymore. Lol. We estimate the Lq4 should be around 500 to 550 hp, so that should be better than ok, I hope. I will say there is a bunch a nickle and dime stuff that you don't think about before the build.

    For those of you new to the 'LS' World: its the Gen 3 and 4 Chevy Small block, replaced the 350cid from the earlier years. LT already gave us the basics the LR4 (4.8) LM7 (5.3) and LQ4/LQ9 (6.0), TRUE LS engines are aluminum, the LS1/LS6 (5.7) LS2 (6.0) and Believe it or not a fwd based LS4. Theres also a big bore LS7 but thats basically the archangel Michael in engine form. After that then the engine codes get crazy: L59, LM4, L33, LS3 ( camaro 6.2), L99, LSA ( supercharged :3) L94, L76, L77, L96, L98, L20, LH6, LY5, LMG, LC9, LH8, L92, L9H, LY6 (gen 4 iron 6.0 RIchard holdners favorite) , LFA ( not the toyota), LZ1, LS9 AND THEN you get to the aftermarket LSX blocks, like the LSX376 and LSX454 after that chevy went to the 5th Gen Block "LT" which do not share bits from the earlier years.

    Cool thing about this upgrade is it will probably get better gas mileage for sure won’t change. Those in line 6s are cool engines, my 91 YJ max torque and hp was around 2k rpm. Like a gas powered diesel. Had a mind splitting 120 hp and torque. Not much worse than a 85 Chevy 305 truck engine 😀

    I'm putting an LT1 L83 in my 37 Chev PU. doing the frame work now. MII from Fatman and leafs from TCI. The engine is rated at 350 HP. That's gonna be a handful in the 37. It's not that heavy, even with boxing the frame. Original specs had it at 3800 lbs. but that was with the Stovebolt six which must weigh 600 lbs. The L83 is half that.

      I had a 97 XJ 4.0L 5 speed 2 door 2WD. Weighed under 2900 lbs, and was a hoot to drive. Later in its life, I realized it wasn't going to be going off road as much, so I swapped the tires down to 235/60R15. Dropped it 7/8" with no altering of suspension. Even that made it handle much nicer. The leaf springs and solid axles front and rear weren't ideal for handling, but the absurdly low weight and nice torque covered a multitude of sins.

    you could add to the series an itemization of cost down to the nuts and bolts so we all know the whole deal, also at 37" tires he's already under geared with 4:56s, he should be running at the very least 4:88s or 5:13s. on a XJ, the general rule of thumb is 4:56s for 33" tires. he should have just used the AW4 jeep trans, theyre basically bullet proof and easily handle 4-500hp

    Hp to weight on the nose of a Cherokee i personally would have looked for an L33 if the cam and intake were going to be swapped. Anytime you can lose 100lbs off of the nose its a plus, but to each their own.
    Second why adapt the 231j to the 60e? Use a 231c that would have come in an s10 or blazer. It would bolt up without adapting the input, and it has a stronger 6 pinion planetary carrier over the 231j 5 pinion.

    This is great! I have been on the fence for this swap for years. I really wanted to use a gen V/L83 just because they are so cheap now but there are no swap kits out there. I like the novak stuff but the headers are made by sanderson and are just repackaged from Novak....I wish someone could read me the part numbers off of those headers! 4L60Es make me nervous but I agree with the gearing for this project. Any more info on the accessory relocation kit from LS simple? Hopefully it is cheaper than the Holley kit! I am anxious to see if how much of the jeep harness will be left after the Terminator is installed. The factory jeep fuel pump with the old tried and true Corvette regulator combo seems to be the hot ticket with this project.I am going to be following this one close!

    Awesome project! I would say I agree with some others' concerns about using a 4l60 from Monster transmission. Everything the knowledgeable people and groups that I trust have to say is they are both trash. Even just 400 hp through a 4l60 (and with aggressive offroading nonetheless) may spell an early death.

    I think dude will need to upgrade the axels and add a full cage and sub frame. I’ve seen plenty of cracked windshields from hard wheeling these things in stock from. Plug in 2x the hp and a little bit of traction and the windshield will shoot out of the hole. Don’t ask me how I know this....Looks like a fun build that will keep taking money from this cats wallet for a long time to come.

    • @jimmyburks7030

      It's got plenty of axles, Dynatrac Pro Rock 60s built for this engine combination!

    • @scottg391
      @scottg391 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jimmyburks7030 That's useful information.... Dude will definitely need to do some work on the frame or lack thereof, otherwise he will twist it up like a pretzel. We did an LS Cherokee a few years ago and learned the hard way. With the stock open diff is wasn't an issue other than the peg leg burnout clean through second gear. With new axels spinning 5:13's all locked up it was a body twister under hard acceleration. After a hard second gear shift, solid hook up and the windshield blowing out, we kinda' knew we needed to do some frame mods to handle the torque. We tried the BS frame connectors and found out those are a joke and ended up with a full cage, a ton of 1/4" plate added to the entire frame and problem solved. We are running a Whipplecharged LS-3 , NV4500 trans, Atlas 2 TC , Currie 44 with Detroit trutrak front, Currie 9" with a Detroit locker rear.
