I live in NJ now but I was an 80's Korean kid in flushing. Wow i did not know the history of it though. Thanks for that ! I do remember it when it was Korean . I had moved away by the time the Chinese took over but i heard about it and saw it when i visited from time to time
You forgot to mention that in the 1960s in Flushing there were some Japanese living in the area before the Koreans and Chinese came. The Japanese left from the area when the whites left.
I moved from NYC in 2014 ( I’m born and bred there), but I remember when Flushing was really a dump, the Chinese and Koreans really brought it back to life. Miss shopping there,

It's interesting how the Asians and Hispanics live together or near each other back in my day the whites lived apart with some Asians here and there and the black and Hispanics always lived together
They're operating under NYPD supervision. City is letting these new red light districts to exist. Only thing would worry is if the bimbos try to overcharge for it.
You’re so right! My roommate told me that in 2015 he went to to a lot of places that only had college girls from China. Then a few years later the cops started shutting down a lot of places. Nowadays it’s mostly fifty year old women 😂😂😂

A lot of businesses in Flushing get fined for not translating their signs. Also, parking is a nightmare, it’s a ticketing orgy in Flushing. The police have started cracking down on the vendors. They’ve quadrupled since Covid. But once the cops leave, the vendors come right back out.
the fastest way to go is it go to Penn Station take the Port Washing Line 3 stops to Main Street Flushing it should take about 20 minutes if you go one more stop to Murray Hill it is considered Korea Town but it much smaller than Main Street Flushing - otherwise you have to take the 7 train to the last stop which is Main Street Flushing
just a thought you could also take the 7 train to 74 street Broadway and then walk around Little India, go to the Jackson Diner a famous Indian Restaurant there and you could also check out the Indian sweets shops and Patel Brothers Supermarket they have the best incense there and then you could hop back on the 7 train and continue to Main Street Flushing
Yes, it is. I’m a native New Yorker and this is filmed in Flushing, near Main Street and Roosevelt Avenue. I was there in this Chinatown two weeks ago. And this looks like a regular daily activities. This is one of the larger Chinatowns that we have in New York.
I think one of the hidden activities, refers to the women hanging out on the street after crossing the road @2:29 and before reaching the main street again! Some of them even sit on chair presumably waiting for customers. (sigh) They are there only in recent few years. This is China Town. But, they don't look Chinese to me.

The 2nd largest China Town within NYC. I know old immigrants who didn't know English, and lived happily without issue! 😊
I think it's the largest Chinatown in NYC now. The one in Manhattan is kinda beat up and quiet.
