  • I have upgraded the Tinman/ Lidmotor transistor circuit that I replicated in previous videos, to be able to run more powerful motors. This could realistically power a bicycle or even be a good start for a Gerard Morin motor/generator device. You`ll need at least, 40 amps, to move your weight around. I think, a modified alternator, into a 3 phase, with a few IRFZ44, in parallel, will do the work. Perhaps, a higher Amps transistor. I`m running, a VHS motor, on 3v, with a D2624, I removed from an old CRT tv.

    Does the high voltage spike from the transistor turning off cause a strong magnetic pull momentarily pulling the rotor indicated by the ringing noise? Although wasted energy, would a flyback diode prevent that (losing battery charging part). Or would a gradual turnoff of the transistor/mosfet help with that spike?
    I'm interested in a simple circuit to drive these motors at a fixed speed without having to buy £80 bldc drivers for each motor.

    I was hoping that the washer motor would be driven with 102V in proper three phase synchronization just like the manufacturers original design. I know this would take three transistors capable of handling the voltage necessary to drive the motor coils at their max without burning them up including the heatsinked transistors as well.

    • @ianhelsbyservices

      I thought these motors were closer to 310v.
      Perhaps rectified and smoothed AC mains which is then PWM'd with suitably sized MOSFET?

    • @darrenhoffer4018
      @darrenhoffer4018  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could use A voltage reducer/regulator circuit to bring down the voltage to the rating of any transistor you might currently have, or simply buy a new, high voltage transistor rated above 370v and at least 3 amp..The TIP152 is NPN transistor that's rated at 400v and 7 amp so I would start there. PNP transitors are harder to find. I found one at DigiKey rated at 400v, model # MJE5852GOS-ND. A simple search on google should help find more options. I hope this helps

      Use Transmission power not ac or dc
      The secret is to use radio frequency of field energy and windings utilized as pick up atena then low amp/high voltage produces efficiency...... this kind of drum motor can provide 80 hp running on 400 volts and 4 amps
      Note how the trolls keep pointing back to low volts and high current of ac or dc

    • @gravelydon7072
      @gravelydon7072 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@waldieschmidtke9630 Factory rating of these motors is a max of .9HP. And that is at 310 volts and about 3 amps and 1400 RPM. Other ones are rated at only .6 HP. None of them will run at 80HP.

    one wire goes to one set of coils, what exactly is the other? is it a signal wire maybe ? if it is a signal wire maybe you just need two more setups to fire the other sets of coils... dude if it turns out that easy, Girard has wasted a lot of time waiting on a controller lol. cant wait to see how it comes out. have some thoughts of my own on the subject but im unable to test any theories right now. wish you luck buddy!

    • @darrenhoffer4018
      @darrenhoffer4018  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are absolutely correct, in my next video I'm going to show some attempts at using the other coils to get more torque. What I came to conclusion is just what you said,adding a circuit to each one is the easiest way to maximize the power. Stay tuned, I'll be finished editing it and upload it in a couple days.

    Has anyone figured out how to run one of these motors on an AC inverter? I have a more normal 3 phase square motor that runs OK but can't get one like this to run, it just vibrates and won't turn.

    • @darrenhoffer4018
      @darrenhoffer4018  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm actually working on that as well. I have tried several different values of capacitors, and wired it in delta and y configurations but haven't made any progress yet, when I do I will be making a video to show what I find out. There have been others who have videos showing that it can be done, this is one that got me working on it... th-cam.com/video/kJQwrieXp9s/w-d-xo.html
      Essentially a hard drive motor is that same thing only smaller...just google search "How To Run A HDD Motor Or Three Phase Motor From A Single Phase". I hope this helps.

    • @stevec5000
      @stevec5000 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why would you be trying capacitors when you really need a 3 phase inverter? This is more like a brushless 3 phase quadcopter motor but uses a lot more power. The circuit in this video is nonsense, he's only running one phase. I want to get the 3 phase pancake style motors to run like the square ones do and I got a variable speed drive but it won't run the pancake motor for some reason. I can spin it by hand but when I connect the VSD it just locks up and won't spin. Maybe some of the settings in the VSD are not correct but I've tried a lot of different settings and can't get it to run.
