    Just purchased my first jeep, a 2023 gladiator Mojave fully spec’d. Have to wait a week as it’s being delivered to me from out of state. Couldn’t find the exact one I wanted locally. Found mine in Texas. Took advantage of year end discount. I rented a rubicon for a few months and fell in love. I chose the Mojave because the suspension, frame and engine cooling, to name a few, have some upgrades. Beefier frame, upgraded fox suspension with reservoirs and heavy duty cooling to name a few. I live in the country down a 2 mile dirt road that gets messy after rain. This jeep will snarl at this road when my Silverado felt like it was falling part on my road. I spent a few months with a gladiator and glad I did. Waited for some good sale and was happy with the results. I got what is considered low Apr in todays market so that also makes me happy. And thankfully, I got retail for my duramax diesel I traded in after I spent 80k miles with Durby, my 2500 Silverado LTZ I traded in. I’m excited to start up-fitting!

    I thought the Gladiators were ugly. And then I saw this Gobi Mojave a year ago in your video and I feel in love! I bought this Jeep 2 months ago now and I'm completely in love with it!

    I think I’d prefer the Mojave over the Rubicon for the Gladiator. With that long wheelbase and bed, you cannot do the crazy rock crawling you can in a Wrangler. So the Rubicon model is kind of pointless unless you mod the hell out of it and put giant tires. The Mojave setup seems to match the truck better.

    • @RKmndo
      @RKmndo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The Gladiator can offroad just fine, even the Sport S. There is more to offroading than just rockcrawling. Lockers come in handy in mud, snow, and sand too. We made do just fine for decades with vehicles much less capable than a Gladiator Sport S, let alone a Rubicon.

    Great review on the Mojave.
    Just a side note. The 7 slots didn't come from conquering the heardest trails in 7 continents. The 7 slots was a trademark move in the mid-1940s to differentiate Willy's front grill design for their Civilian Jeep (CJ) from that of Ford's 9 slot grill on the GP (GP...Jeep...sounds familiar?) that dates back to WWII.

    Almost a year ago is this video, but if you don’t know, the back seats also flip down from the back to the front, more storage, but you can lock them with the key. So when you do have everything off, put stuff back there you don’t care to have stolen and lock it up. Glove box locks as well.

    I bought a 2020 Jeep Mojave used with 2K miles. I saved about $10K over a comparably equipped 2021. I am very pleased with the truck. It will never be a rock crawler unless you lift it 4 inches and put the 40s on it...even so, I doubt it would fare well in the rock crawling environment. Its wheelbase is just too long to be a good rock crawler. So I opted for a capable off-roader that could soak up some of the abuse on the trail. I have no real plans to be a technical driver with my current vehicle. I will tag along on trail rides and take the easy bypass when necessary. I will use it to go camping in remote areas where it can help me negotiate the trails. The extra ride height and width will help stabilize the truck while a locking rear diff will get me through most of what I expect to encounter. I plan to use mine for weekend camping getaways and for ski trips and while exploring in the Rockies. A good winch and recovery set will ensure that I get where I am going.

But it is time-proven and very effective for its intended purpose. After high hp V-10 engines, it is hard to be impressed. But, this engine and vehicle combination changes the way you view utility. Hope this helps. Gary

      @RKmndo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Tofutaco I don't know that IFS is "necessary", but all seriously competitive desert trucks use it.
      The Mojave doesn't make any sense to me. A Gladiator with Grand Cherokee IFS would have made more sense to me. The Rubicon makes more sense to me. Fixing the JL/JT steering issues would make more sense to me.
      Jeep, triangulate that upper linkage on the Quadracoil design. Eliminate the need for flimsy trackbars. Eliminate the probability for wobble.

      @@RKmndo Yeah jeep suspension is really just all wrong for running in the desert. I was really surprised when I heard about this trim level. Really goes to show they know their customers don't actually care about capability, just the appearance of it.

      @@forrest225 -- it is not, "all wrong". It would likely even make a better daily driver than the Rubicon. Sure, IFS is nice - yet, not needed ... depending. There are plenty worse SUVs. @@preston6618 nice! I bought the Billet silver mojave in 3.6 too about 3 weeks ago. I stay away from diesels because of the DPF systems being utter garbage. But yeah the supper charger or 392 would be a cool go fast option.

    I would probably choose this over the Rubicon for overlanding. Just wish front locker and swaybar disconnect were included.

      yes, well the disco is for the Rubicon and people who are looking to do more rock crawling.
      The Mojave is likely better as a daily driver. Both of these "long wheel base" mini-trucks are not always the best for the small, rocky trails.

      Anti-swaybar disconnects and a lunchbox locker are not typically complicated or super-expensive to add yourself.

      Would you expect anything else from recirculating ball steering and a solid front axel? Lol

    • @RKmndo
      @RKmndo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KeithKacanek Yes. YJs steered just fine, even if the trackbars were removed. It's Jeep's problematic coil implementation that is to blame, not the SFA. Jeep needs to triangulate that upper linkage and eliminate the trackbars. They hamper articulation too.

    Seems pretty pointless. The only real change is the fox shocks, but that solid axle setup is still going to suck at high speed. There is a reason real race trucks have independent suspension.
    Also the lack of a front locker is kind of crazy. Same price as the Rubicon but you lose major capability? Yeah, no thanks.

    1:40 "It is built for things like jumping..."
    Uh, no it's not. If you start jumping that thing you'll destroy the axles.

    • @chrisanderson4044
      @chrisanderson4044 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s not true at all it’s got over 11 inches of ground clearance, cast iron knuckles, frame strengthening and Dana 44 thicker axles for that reason. Virtually everything on the undercarriage is beefier than the rubicon and is designed to take high impact at higher speed.

    • @jamescrud
      @jamescrud 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrisanderson4044 No axle without added bracing is going to survive very long if you jump the truck. I don't care how thick the tubes are. The joints where the tubes meet the axles are the weak point. It needs a truss to get rid of the bending moment at that location. Even Dana 60s won't last without a truss.

    I prefer the Mohave! I like the Rubicon don’t get me wrong, but I’m not a rock crawler. The Mohave can handle a lot of crazy trails as it is a Jeep. I would like the the auto disconnect and front locker but if I’m honest with myself I need those things like I need a hole in my head. I love the stance and the suspension of the Mohave. That Gobi color is fucking awesome! Only thing I’d do is throw some 35’s on it.
