FWIW I mirrored my iPhone last night and played this game on the big screen. It looks amazing on a TV from the iPhone. No voice acting in this version however.
Tons of reviews out & nobody else has gone into the skill tree or even mention limit breaks, this had a lot more info that makes this seem less basic than I originally thought, pretty well done.
I actually started a Apple Arcade free trial just to try this game when it came out. It was good but I never finished because I didn’t want to pay a subscription to own a game. Now I can really own the game! 🙏
This looks good, but one thing that really irks me in games is when they let you respec at any time for free. It's usually indicative of lazy design and bad balancing. If the game isn't designed to be beatable with any character builds, then corners were cut. Further, there's and sense of accomplishment for the player when they overcome a game's challenges with the decisions they made, and easy respeccing trivializes and invalidates those decisions.
Hopefully he will do more like this instead of moving away from turn base make it more realistic and flowing instead of what they did to Final Fantasy I'm sure it's not Squares decision they have merge with another company who pushed the real time genre and they didn't change over nite they did it gradually easier to get gamers to accept it.
Square merged with Enix.... Enix owned Dragon Quest...known for its turn based combat still, so it wasn't them that made FF change. I'm hoping Sakaguchi makes more like this. I like the diorama idea, even if it's 3D modeled in an engine. It gives that classic prerendered background effect. Stick to the anime style, FF has tried to go more towards realism which I don't like. PS1 era had a touch a realism, but kept that little bit of anime which I liked a lot.

The game sounds interesting, and I love a good turn based game, but what bothers me about this one is that based on the gameplay footage, characters seem to only have one attack animation. Also, there doesn't seem to be any change of camera angles or perspective in battle. Which, coupled with the fact that the characters seem to never move across the battlefield for attacks or anything, makes the combat look kind of boring. That doesn't mean that the game is bad, but as someone who played FF 10 when it first released on ps2, and played it again this year as well on ps4 pro, this newer game seems really basic and lacking by comparison. Even the FF games on PS1 had dynamic camera angles in battle and multiple attack animations for all the characters. However, everyone seems to agree that Fantasian is great, so it might be worth a try anyway. I've been craving something like this that isn't an Atlus game.
Yeah. A bit. I never finished the game on apple arcade but from where I was it was hinted at throughout (classic slow burnin) i was about half way or a little more than half way in when I stopped so im sure it will lead to more later!
It seriously bugs me that squareenix made a turn based RPG NOT CALLED GINAL FANTASY, after the Fans have been calling for a new Turn based Final Fantasy since FFX.
The FFVII remake should have looked like this and been one game. That would be 1000x better than the monstrosity Square Enix gave us by burning their shareholders’ money
FF7 remake and rebirth are amazing. There are 1000s of retro RPGs to play with remade pixel remasters, HD2D remakes etc. it’s cool square pushed the envelope with FF7
I loved FF7 remake and Rebirth. Sure they made a few missteps, but they succeeded overall and they have become some of my favorite games. There were many moments I was in awe at what they had achieved with the world and characters. FF7 just won the Grand Award for Global Sales and User Choice Award at the PlayStation Partnership Awards 2024. So, it didn’t meet Square’s ridiculous expectations but it’s already critically acclaimed (at least 2 best narrative awards so far) and one of the best selling games of the year. It’s made a profit, and sony’s exclusive money isn’t even included in that. It will continue to do so as it releases on more platforms and gets re-released when part 3 arrives. Some people really wanted it to fail and seized on the lower than expected sales reports to twist it into some weird narrative that it sold poorly. Rebirth is in with a good chance of game of the year.
People keep saying this but games like FF16 and FF7 remake games largely outsell 90% of other jrpgs on the market, including square's other turn-based games.
@@wood1066yeah this is so true, I really enjoyed FF16 and I thought Rebirth was near perfect. People need to accept the biggest sellers are usually good games. There is this loud minority of people chanting the same old "make final fantasy turn based again" and it like no let's not! The magic of final fantasy games is they are not afraid to try new things and they innovate. Also there are so many better combat turn based RPGs nowadays than there has ever been, this year is a prime example of turn based Heaven, so much so that that I actually got abit bored of turn based RPGs halfway through the year. You can have too much of a good thing sometimes.
Bravely Default 3 should be in the makings as farr as i know :) Really looking forward to that, i would also have loved a PS5 version of Bravely Default 2 :)

yes! turn based! this is the reason i stopped playing the newer final fantasy games because they became more action rpg.

That's pure opinion. I think X-2 is the pinnacle of FF battle systems given its a fast paced 3D ATB with a job system
