This game isn't as bad as people say otherwise, the controls work surprisingly especially after Sonic Heroes's janky controls, the story does work if you ignore the poorly executed multiple paths system.
I've 100% Heroes last week, and hooooooo boy, physics in Heroes suck ass! From auto-scrollers catapulting ypu to your death to power formations auto aiming you off the cliff, and damn, special stages are barely playable! This game felt much better than I was 10. Then again, I didn't 100% it, so... I wonder if Shadow The Hedgehog would hold if you try to complete it 100%
I also Love this game it's unironically my favorite Sonic Game and Shadow is my favorite Sonic character he's so cool!!! I also love the songs "I AM ALL OF ME" and "ALL HAIL SHADOW" and "NEVER TURN BACK" all really good songs and that's not even talking about some of the unused tracks which are also pretty good the game could have been better wish it had been T and really leaned into the Edge and darker elements of the game like the whole city being evacuated is just stupid let them all have died let it be dark and we could have had Sonic characters swearing which would have just been funny. It could have been better, but I still love it!!!
What's truly a shame is the state of it and the games around it in terms of accessibility. S1, CD, S2, S3&K, Mania, Superstars, S4:EP2, S4:EP2, SA, SA2, Colors, Gens, Lost World, Forces, Frontiers. The entire mainline catalogue is available to anyone on modern platforms and PC. Heroes, Shadow, 06 and Unleashed just... Aren't. It's such a shame for arguably the franchise's largest peak lore-wise and in terms of extended cast presence to be unavailable to the masses. Technically, Heroes had a PC physical release but that's incredibly hard to find and expensive. They should port all 4, not because "Aw it's my childhood" or "Games are peak" or something, they're straight up 4 major steps of the Sonic journey that aren't available anywhere. I'd launch Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog on PC at the same time, then port 06 then Unleashed. 20€ each, compile them into a collection for 60€ and you've got yourself a banger gateway for new and all fans alike.

Yeah they really gotta rerelease them or give them a remaster. I don't even like Heroes that much but it deserves a remaster.

My biggest issue with Shadow's game was the heroes controls were used. I wasn't a fan of that slipperyness so it transferred over to Shadow.
