Absolutely the best roads there are. Living in Santa Cruz 40 years ago, our regular route started at the entrance to the UCSC Campus: Empire Grade to Felton Empire Rd and down into Felton, north on CA9 to 35, north on 35 to Alice's. Have lunch. West down 84 to the coast, south on CA1 to Bonny Doon Road, to Pine Flat Road, then back down Empire Grade. Thanks for this video. It brought me back.
@@B-LeeRidesUnfortunately Skyline Boulevard from Highway 84 to Highway 9 is kind of crappy and he’s getting worse. Lot’s of sunken asphalt in corners. Noticed it this weekend and had a few butt clencher moments. Be wary!

Where do you guys find all the best routes like that? Are there forums for our area, or you just google or? Getting my bike soon, so any info would be greatly appreciated. I just want to get away & enjoy the ride, you know that feeling?
@@MJD925 Here's my process... Three 👍🏼 👍🏼 👍🏼 for the over all video! You made Skyline from 92 to Alice's actually look nice, even though it's a nasty bit of uneven haphazard pavement for most of the route. My favorite weekend ride is La Honda from San Gregorio to Alice's; the sole caveat is there will be runoffs on turns from Applejack's to Alice's, but overall it's technical twisties preceded by fast sweepers from the coast to Slime Gully.
Thanks man! Yeah Skyline was sketchy. I plan to do a video of La Honda. I'm thinking a warm early morning because there was a million cars on it when I tried before. Thanks for the info!
At the end of the video going through the stop sign, instead of turning left towards SF, go down 9 into Saratoga is nice too with long sweeping turns. I looooooved these roads so much back in day. Wish I still lived there just to ride these roads again. I'm going to ride there soon again, thanks!!
@@jeffryhiebert Yes I already do! Rode Saratoga to Boulder Creek home from work Friday, beautiful ride. I am usually commuting over Bear Creek Rd which is a challenge, especially in the early morning.
Nice review pal, you have some nice tarmac to ride on, our roads in the UK are shite at the min, with loads of potholes, etc. In for one of these springtime.
Thanks! Yeah, a smooth road makes all the difference. I guess I didn't realize how good we have it here. Most roads are bad but there are a few really good ones so I'll stop complaining. Lol

If you get tired of the traffic on 9 you can always take Jamison creek/alba rd/felton-empire rd up to empire grade and head down into Santa Cruz. I live in Felton so I like to take Felton-empire to ice cream grade which connects to Bonny doon rd and then down to hwy 1. Swanton rd is another fun one Gazo’s creek road will take you all the way to pescadero creek rd which you can connect to stage rd Don’t even get me started on dirt roads out here for dual sports
@andrewpiercy1023 I'm down! I've been up there a couple times. Check out some of my vids from around there. I really like Sage Canyon to Lake Hennessey, Wooden Valley Rd, Also Lake Berryessa, but I haven't edited that one yet. I would love to see more though
Amazing ride, I do wanna ask, has that bike cause any problems? I'm looking for a second bike since my first one got totaled and this one is on the list, but I really don't want to deal with reliability issues so I'm asking since you own one.
Thanks man! No problems at all. I only have 1200 miles on it right now but everything is perfect. I did a ton of research before I bought it and it seemed pretty reliable. Of course, you can find people here and there with some issue, but that's with any bike. One major factor is that you can not find these used because everyone keeps them! That's a good sign. If they had problems you would see everyone trying to sell them, but it's quite the opposite. Hope that helps
I’m struggling between a Harley softail and a BMW GS. The reason why is because of this goldmine called Highway 9/35. But I could be overthinking it. Call me over dramatic. But I saw a Harley cruiser struggling coming down Page Mill Road.

i grew up in felton 🙂 zayante is quite a fun road to take at a relaxed pace, its a one lane road but very remote, no cellphone service ^^
please consider remove the names of those other roads. 9 is already littered with cars wrecking haha. Lets keep the newbies in one avoidable location.
Definitely looks like a fun road to ride with some gorgeous scenery at the ocean. Thank you for sharing. Love the livery on the bike too🔥🔥
