I have spent a long time debating over whether I should make this video, and I hope you take it as it is: not a hit piece on reaction channels, but a hopefully more nuanced discussion about reaction channels and creators and adding my voice to the discussion (which is important to me as it can feel a bit powerless constantly logging onto TH-cam and seeing everyone using your content). Thanks for watching. Also, shout out to JJLA Reacts - I don't watch the reaction videos of me, but my audience are all recommending you as an interesting reactor who does it ethically, so thanks!
Can't you Copyright claim them? Or is it 'fair use' sort of situation? (You should totally put your Channel ID permanently somewhere on screen though. If they react to it, it'll be advertising yours iyswim)
The ones featured here who tell you to go watch this channel in the video tend to be the ones who respond to comments in their videos. The ones that don't credit, also ignore coments from many people for months on end.
Maybe TH-cam should create a profit-sharing re-licensing scheme. The reaction channels benefit from your content, you benefit from their audience reach.
I'm picturing something like the "Performing Rights Society" license scheme which exists for music and ensures artists receive royalties from rebroadcasts of their work.
that sounds like a good idea especially when people use that content creators video that they have worked really really hard on just for them to make a reaction vid on i like that idea share the proffits to whomever is reacting to it. 😀👍🏻 makes it fair.
Vlogging Through History, after reacting to a CGP Grey video, broke down the options available when someone reacts to your work. You can let it slide, you can ask the reactor to take it down, you can claim all income from the reaction as it's your content bringing in revenue, or (and this is what CGP Grey did) you can file a copyright strike, which suspends the reactor's video while it goes into arbitration. Three copyright strikes and your channel gets deleted. CGP Grey filed two strikes against VTH (an unbelievably dickish move as it threatens his livelihood, and if he'd just asked VTH would have removed his reactions) and lost some subscribers as a result.
@@hughtube5154 and VTH definitely adds to the video he's not one of the lazy reaction channels. Honestly CGP Gray seems to have some distain for his audience
He has no social media either, connected to any of his channels (except his decade-old one with his brother Ryan), for anyone to be able to interact with him. It's really disappointing that he doesn't ever respond to anyone - makes it seem like he doesn't give a sh*t about his audience, just in it for the money 😞
@@SallyH247 The pair of them just do it for an income stream. Ryan is super bored these days and clearly sees it as a n after-work inconvenience. Tyler excels at fake dumbfoundedness. Playing the character of a sort of bumpkin who knows nothing.
I think Tyler is satirically taking the mick out of the other reaction channels as if you notice at the beginning of his videos at same point of his introduction he seems to slightly wink as he says “I am just an ordinary American”(can’t remember it exactly as his shtick gets old fast after I noticed him doing the slight wink so I don’t watch that channel anymore)
Hi Kalyn, Thank you so much for making this video. When I first saw the title, my heart started racing, and when I saw my face, I nearly had a heart attack-I felt like I had just kicked a puppy! By the end of the video, I felt more at ease, but I still wanted to reach out and connect with you directly (and I guess publicly.) I love your videos and your unique perspective. The last thing I want to do is take anything from you or leave you with a bad impression. When I film reactions to your videos, I always try to encourage viewers to visit your channel and like and subscribe, but I'm not sure if I've remembered to do that consistently. If I haven't, I'm really sorry about that. I also try to include a link to your original video in the description, but again, I apologize if I missed that in any cases. One thing I realize I've never done, and honestly hadn't thought about, is asking for your permission to react to your videos. Thanks for pointing that out! I sincerely apologize for not doing that sooner. I also recognize that I probably need to give your original videos more time to get views before reacting to them. Checking how long a video has been posted seems like something I'd forget to do. Your content helps bring people together and showcases the beautiful diversity of humanity, while also highlighting our shared similarities. That's exactly what I'm trying to do with my reactions, which is why I've been so drawn to your work. I truly want to spread the love (as cheesy as that sounds), and yes, I'm a bit of a hippie at heart! I'll be emailing you soon about another one of your videos I'd like to react to, so I’ll be in touch! Anyway, thanks for opening this dialogue! I hope you're not getting too many haters hating. I hope you're doing well and that you have all the Yorkshire puddings your heart desires ❤
I actually found this channel through your videos JJLA (I’m a fan btw, not a Patreon but I bought a mug hahaha)! I think it’s interesting both of the perspectives you both have, both as Kayln living in the UK, and you from outside of it (both of your accents are also lovely hahaha). Keep up the good work both of you!
You're getting loads of positive comments on here JJLA. We think you're a class act and top reactor. It speaks volumes that you came straight here to express yourself so eloquently and humbly.
I've watched several JJLA videos where he reacts to you or Evan, and he always puts in tonnes of effort to ensure his reaction is actually transformative. He'll pause the video to Google stuff in order to learn more about the subject, he provides links back to the videos and he outright says that people should like and subscribe to your stuff Of all the reaction channels, he does it how it should be done
I definitely have been hearing positive things about JJLA reacts and appreciate him for that - he is clearly one of the ethical and brighter sides to the reaction channel community!
JJLA is arguably 1 of the best reaction videos supporting the ordinal creators on TH-cam and can relate to your US connection, searches your points for definition/ similarity to better understanding for all
@@GirlGoneLondonofficial i have enjoyed your stuff on his reactions and he pointed the way here clearly so i subbed to see what else you have to say, which i presume is how things should work if other creators are doing the right thing
yeah JJ is lowkey one of the best around. and for someone with around 40k subscribers it's kinda criminal he doesn't have more!. I know Jay Foreman from Map Men is very appreciative of his efforts to dissect all the jokes in their videos and google almost everything
The thing that bothers me is the inconsistency regarding copyright. TH-cam is very strict when protecting large companies from copyright infringement, yet allows the same infringement against small creators.
It gets especially complicated when dealing with copyright laws in different countries. You may notice that there are very few Australian reaction channels. One of the reasons for that is there is no "fair use" in Australian copyright law. There are a few limited exceptions, such as being able to copy 10% of something for educational purposes, but those limited exceptions aside - none of which apply to TH-cam - permission is always required. With the number of TH-camrs that are simply not contactable and don't read the comments, and people in other countries thinking why bother replying when fair use is incorrectly assumed, getting permission to use someone else's video can be hard enough that no one bothers. Even the well known Ozzy Man Reviews had to set up his own copyright licencing business for using other people's videos that they sent to him - because not everyone sends in THEIR OWN video. Aussies are generally one of the last cultures that will bother to sue anyone, but it does still happen now and then, especially if some lazy Karenesque type person can make money from doing it.
Thank you Kalyn for this video. I'm truly blessed that you've allowed me to learn from your work. I've learned over time to get the permission, link to the original video and promote the content creator. I'm still purging videos from my earlier days that doesn't have the "ok" from the creator. I never thought about adding a comment and pinning it...still learning from you and I love it. Thank you again Kalyn.
That's the way to do it Mark, I thoroughly enjoy your videos and definately appreciate that you get permission from other creators to use their videos!
@MarkfromtheStates you are such a nice guy , not even comparable to some of these reactors you have a genuine interest and such a kind man. Love to you and family as always .Debbie x
Honestly it really warms my heart knowing you make enough from TH-cam that you can do it full time, instead of slogging it out in a 9-5 in London. You are a very sweet and charming person, i love your takes on everything British. That being said, how dare these channels steal your content without giving you credit or asking them to support your channel. You definitely deserve like 100k subs and I'll definitely be here when you reach that.
As a matter of principle, TH-cam should give a share of the income from a reaction video to the creator of the original video AND REQUIRE a link to the original video in the description of the reactor’s video.
TH-cam used to have "video replies" which would link back to the video it's a reply to, so it's something they've done before. They could also do something more involved where a reaction to another youtube video wouldn't be allowed to contain any of the original video but would play alongside the original video, possibly even synchronizing pauses and seeks.
JJLA is in a totally different league to that Tyler guy. He's a nice, genuine person and makes entertaining reactions. And always puts links to videos and tells viewers to go watch and subscribe to the channel. I found and subscribed to you because of him!
I found your channel originally from a video by JJLA Reacts, he pretty much always mentions the original creator and always links the original video, and he has a genuine interest on U.K. culture etc. He is a trained Audio Engineer and an Actor. As for Tyler he's just a money maker I think as he doesn't interact with the comments of his subscribers, I don't think that he even looks at them to be honest.
I like JJLA. He has an enjoyable take on the content he reacts to. Especially when it's a subject on the arts, such as the music industry. I always watch the original video first.
@@ChuckstaGamingYes, and unlike some, if he doesn't understand something about the subject being discussed, he usually goggles it and educates himself.
JJLA is exactly what a 'reaction' video should be! I enjoy his ad-hoc researching to clarify things, "Show me on a map". Also, specifically for the map men reactions, he will pause to catch all of the hidden jokes that, many of which, I would have otherwise missed when I originally watched them. And yes, he always credits the original creator.
@@ChuckstaGaming His whispering annoys me. I'm hard of hearing. His mug stroking and weird faces put me off as well. I do like that he takes the time to Google though
@@ahudspith the nearest way to block a channel is left click on the three dots when a particular channel's video is on your main yt screen, select 'Do Not Recommend This Channel' (for your content feed)
Sees a Yorkshire pudding every week and somehow it's like some bizarre unheard of thing never imagined could possibly exist in the universe...definitely a grifter that one.
If he were really as clueless as he pretends to be, he'd be institutionalized! I've tried, but find him to be painful to watch. The fact that he never responds to any comments leaves a bad taste as well. I can understand limiting your responses if you have a large following, but never acknowledging common points being made by many can only be to increase engagement and feed the algorithm.
Great video Kaylan (sp?) JJLA has started reacting to your stuff recently and I like him a lot as 1/ he's genuinely funny, but 2/ he stops and looks stuff up all the time for extra info. That's a good reactor. Keep up the great work!
Tyler Rumple - UK Tyler Walker - Norway Tyler Bucket - Canada Here's the things I like about him: • His face when he gets shocked Here's what I hate: • He stopped replying to comments (even in videos where he asks us questions) • He forget things he has learned many times • He stopped crediting the original video • He has a "suggest a video here" link, but never take it seriously
I hate the "shocked" face as it is so fake - he totally over-acts. If you look at really old videos of him or ones of him with his brother, he has a completely different personality and doesn't pull exaggerated faces or constantly laugh at everything including his own patter.
As someone who is subscribed to both you and Alanna’s channels, I would be interested in seeing a collab (video or series) with you both comparing notes about life in the uk and also about life back in your original countries.
That would be amazing, getting a dual reaction to the same thing. I've always had the assumption that because Canada is right there, above USA they know, and do the same things, but Canadians are more like us in the UK that I realised. Sorry, and being overly polite being one of those things
He can't, he's stuck in there watching videos on four countries to react to, and recording the ones he chooses for his five channels, for twenty hours a day.
@@MSFSFreeware I've found his Norway, British & Canada channels (and an unused Japan one) what are his other ones? His brother has 3 different reaction channels too - It is completely unfair and unethical that he and his brother are profiting from other hard-working creators' content by simply sitting in a chair, making a few facial expressions, pausing the video every so often to make a few comments of their own and spewing out multiple videos of this type, that requires very little editing.
Thank you for addressing this situation, and it's interesting to know both yourself and Alanna have majority Brit subs. "Tyler Rumple" and his brother both have multiple reaction channels to different countries and both ask the same questions about things they should have already learned (as you said) and never seem to read the comments or reply even when provoked with jokes about Americans 😅 .. The opposite of him is JJLA Reacts , he's reacted to several of your videos, he's genuinely interested and always gives a Like and mentions you. What I tend to do is skip the ads on the third party channel and let them run on yours so at least you get a little ad revenue.
Tyler Rumple is a total asshole. He makes his videos deliberately provocative, and consistently acts all dumb and innocent as if it was all new to him. And never responds to comments. IMO he is just a money-stealing bandit.
Tyler's videos so bad that I, as a non youtuber, have considered doing reaction videos to his reaction videos where I just get to call him an idiot continually.
Is 'Ryan Wuzer' Tyler's brother? He seems OK, unless I'm missing something? He does seem to credit the original video, reads comments and seems to be trying to learn something. Unlike Tyler...
Always watch your videos, but love watching JJLA reacting to them. He tends to pause the video and google things he’s never heard of or just to get more info in general. I think you’ve taught him a lot 😂. Incidentally, Tyler doesn’t read any comments, so it doesn’t surprise me that he has never responded to you…
I’m pleased you did make this video, and I enjoyed your rant about Tyler at the end too. I had watched several of his videos before realising he: never responds to any comments, plays into the “stupid American” character too much, pretends he’s never heard about things before, and has the multiple channels under different names. It’s really wrong I feel like
The only reaction channel that I regularly watch is JJLA and for the most part I always also watch the original video that he's reacting to. As so many have said he always credits the original - not just credits it, but also suggests that you should watch and subscribe to it - and he adds enough in the way of commenting and checking whatever he doesn't understand that it's worth watching both. As for Tyler Ten-Names, I watched for a while and then just gave up. If I'm honest it wasn't because of his ethics, it was because he is one of the most monumentally irritating people on TH-cam.
It is kind of ridiculous that putting 5 seconds of music in a 1 hour video can get all the ad revenue sent to the copyright holder of the music, but a reaction channel can include someone else's entire video while adding no insight or entertainment to it, and keep the revenue.
I’m a sucker for reaction channels and my experience with one of the creators that you mentioned led me to be a lot more discerning about which channels I follow, I hope this video helps others to do the same
Tyler Rumple is by far and away the worst offender in this regard. I have asked him on many occasions to link to the original video in the comments but to no avail. He doesn't even respond to the comments on his own reaction videos and his "Cavalier" attitude does not fit well with the small 'American reacts to' community. 😠
This was a brave video to make and massive respect to you for doing so. It says a lot that it was just as well researched and well presented as everything else you do!
It's good old "Plagiarism " stealing and passing off your content ". even big corporation in the business world do this. Agree adventures & naps is excellent.
Would never have found your channel if not for JJLA, and hope you guys become friends because you both come across as kind and considerate people 😊 also, he's hilarious and ethical as a reactor. I enjoy your content and will usually try watch your video before going into JJLAs mini deep dives, happy to support both of you, great people 😊
he's been surprised about the same things over and over, watch it turn out he's an early deepfake experiement that gets a knowledge reset after each video
I've just watched this video and first of all I'm a Jamaican but has lived in UK for most of my life. Your contents are interesting and educational as you cover alot of topics I can relate to. I've lived in USA and Australia and it's great. Love your videos so I agree with what you've said keep up the good work loving it
That guy you mentioned that didn't ask or link your channel, I recently had to stop youtube recommendations for him because I watched a couple and noticed he never linked to the channels or ask the audience to go watch and subscribe to the channel he reacted to. Also he only watches the videos says a few words at the end not actually reacting
Tyler rumple.... he has multiple channels... all "Tyler xxxx". He also acts like he doesn't know anything about the topic. He literally can't be that stupid, it's on purpose.
@@c0wbag49 I honestly thought he had some sort of mental illness the first video I see from him because of the way he acts, but I guess it's all just an act for all his videos as he pumps out so much of the same content
Interesting and tricky situation, But as a side would like you to know I found your channel because of JJLA Reacts (hi to you dude if you see this) and he does link your original video on his... and also I always got the willies about that Tyler guy O.O Also a like and sub for the olde algorithm)
@@artemisfowl66 Yes, I believe Natasha and Debbie and have built up good relationships with a number of creators who they react to, the delightful German couple who visit tourist attractions throughout the UK (sorry I can't remember their name), especially.
I found you through reaction videos. I completely agree that many of them are simply taking advantage and trying to make an easy video. Even before seeing this video I had unsubscribed from these channels and subscribed to you (and other creators in a similar position). Thank you for creating the content that you do and I'm glad I was able to find you, even if it's through somewhat dodgy means
I love reaction videos (from better channels), so was worried that this was going to be an attack on them, but it's actually a really nuanced and solid video about the issue - thank you! And you're absolutely correct in your "etiquette for reaction videos" section.
Tbh if it wasn't for JJLA reacts and the video he put up the other day about your 101 favourite things about British stuff I wouldn't have clicked on this video as I've only just discovered you through the algorithm. I didn't go looking for you but TH-cam suggested you to me in the recommendation section of TH-cam. So really you can thank him for your extra viewers. Even if it is just the 1 extra.
I also discovered this channel through JJLA as well as MapMen and others. That's because he credits properly, when people don't share the link and the credit for the original vid, that's the real problem.
Yes I also found you through JJLA, absolutely love him and he really should have many more viewers. Cailin I absolutely get what you're saying especially when certain people don't give due credit etc. Before I understood how youtube worked I was often only seeing the reaction videos thanks to the TH-cam algorithm but once I understood the monetisation I made sure I watched the original video too. I've a number of people I now follow thanks to the reaction channels but do feel your frustration over certain players. I'd absolutely though get in touch with JJLA he's a real good guy
Legal Eagle broke down the legal no-no's of reaction videos, where doing these things could be considered stealing content: - Not citing the source - Playing the original in its entirety - Adding nothing of value, and/or nothing transformative in nature. In particular, Legal Eagle was critical of xQc, who livestreamed someone's content for hours, and left it playing while he went to the toilet.
The problem with the idea of reaction channels not playing the original in its entirety is that works fine with a movie or TV show as not only are they longer but the narrative is structured in such a way that there are important beats that are essential to be able to weave your own reaction narrative around it and bit that have little importance in doing that but TH-cam videos are shorter and usually get the narrative point more directly. Not only would a reaction video end up being really short but it wouldn't have a coherent narrative. Unless TH-cam moves further towards being longer form its always going to be an issue
@@SimonWakefieldUK No reason a reactor cannot do the same thing they do when doing a reaction for a TV show or movie and do two versions, one cut down so that only 25-50% of the original is used, and a second like they do on Patreon that requires you to have your own copy, which is available free anyways. Or do the right thing if they want to show the whole thing and ask for a licence.
@@gordon861 There absolutely is though for the reasons I mentioned. YT videos are shorter and are more efficient with their use of time, largely because watch minutes are such a significant metric for YT success. You will lose any ability to edit together 20-50% of the original video and have a coherent narrative
I bet Mark from the states would feel comfortable reacting to this and I think I'd probably agree with what he'd have to say about it. But yeah, I've had enough of 'I'm just a dumb, ignorant American, reacting to ....'
Thank you so much for the shout out. We just need to get the video edited and then set it live on our channel! Asking permission to use another creators video to us is just common decency. x
I really appreciate that you've put a lot of thought into this and not ad-libbing like you usually do. That way you don't get distracted and say something you don't mean or that can be taken wrongly. Brava! Tyler Is a rather dense. Either that or he's a good actor.
How ironic that these Americans ripping off other Americans have not understood (after learning so much about the UK) something we take extremely seriously which is common courtesy.
I've never subscribed to a TH-cam channel before. But this video struck such a chord that I've just subscribed to your channel. This was truly fascinating subject matter. I've watched several reaction videos in the past, but I had never really considered how much easier it was to make a reaction video than to make actual original content.
I used to watch Tyler Rumple, but I stopped watching a while ago. He doesn't give credit to the original creator and rarely comments on posts. He's pretty boring to be honest.
Perhaps there ought to be a proifit sharing rule implemented by TH-cam. Say, for example, Natasha & Debbie were to use 80% of one of your videos (they are free to cut out some bits) and that your video makes up 40% of their video. Then you ought to receive 80% x 40% = 32% of whatever monetisation they receive for their video.
Tyler rumble is a pain he seems to react to one video one week then the following week watch another video with some of the same stuff then pretend he doesn't know about it and he never interacts with his viewers I no longer watch him
I totally agree with practically everything you’ve said on here. I found you (and other creators) through reaction channels but have realised my views would be going to them instead of the original creator, so I’ve mostly stopped doing this, particularly when they’re very recent videos. You are so right to point this out to us all, you work hard and deserve the views that you’ve earned (certainly more than Tyler, who is EXTREMELY annoying and NEVER reads his comments, no matter how much he gets screamed at!) Love your videos, please keep making them and I promise to watch your originals 🤗
Never looked at it like that for a second! and I apologise for bringing a couple of those reactioners to your attention! and you're right, your content is original and you are good at it so stand tall and own it Lass you're good enough!
I do watch JJLA Reacts as I like the way he deep dives things you have talked about. BTW I only watch those videos where I have already watched it on your channel. Keep up the great work.
JJ is actually so great - he always adds in new context, looks things up and is obviously just psyched to be learning things and is genuinely curious about things. He also always tells people to watch and subscribe to the original creator, which I like. I do the same though - I will watch his reactions, but if I haven't seen the original video yet, you can be sure I'm going to watch it first so I don't have to deal with all the pausing and whatnot. He's pretty much the only reaction channel I watch.
I've been guilty of suggesting your videos for other reaction channels to react to because your explanations are so comprehensive, insightful and well delivered. They have not yet reacted to any of your content thus far but they do give credit to other content creators they feature. I got a little pissed off upon hearing that only 1 reaction channel has reached out to ask your permission for using your content. I would like to add that etiquette and courtesy are taught and unfortunately some people just haven't received enough of those teachings in their formative years. P.s "she's the better Canadian version of you" 😂😂😂 Never. You're both great at what you do. Original content is a blessing in this day and age on TH-cam and you guys have my utmost respect.
To be fair JJLA Reacts you wouldn't have a subscriber like me and others because of him, he is always giving you high credit, seems very interested in what you say, looks things up himself and telling people to follow you.
I definitely have been hearing positive things about JJLA reacts and appreciate him for that - he is clearly one of the ethical and brighter sides to the reaction channel community.
Thanks for the great insight as usual. I'm always seeing Tylers videos suggested and I have watched several of his videos but didn't realise he also had other similar channels which makes me feel he isn't really genuine about his interest in the UK and thanks to you pointing this out I've blocked his content from my feed. I found you through JJLA reacts and I think he is genuine and he always speaks highly of you, and I do believe having watched him for some time that this video will have an impact on him personally so I hope he will reach out to you in future.
i found your channel by watching a JJLA video, so sometimes it is a good idea. btw JJLA seems to be a genuine good guy i cant see him stealing your content on purpose, but i cant speak for the others doing it, ive never watched any of theirs.
There are many UK/USA channels, but I find yours worth watching because you actually research stuff the others don’t bother with. This probably makes your channel more attractive to the reactors as there are so many less engaging videos out there.
Well said 👍Tyler rumple is so irritating with his constant waffle and pausing, he never gives the person he is reacting to a chance to get to the point, I’ve seen 2/3 of his videos, and now no longer watch him, as I have seen a long time ago that he just rips off everyone else’s videos and inanely interruptes constantly, I’m sure he was vaccinated with a gramophone needle as a child 😂keep up the good work 🎉❤
Another thing about videos of someone foreign experiencing your country is that a pair of fresh eyes helps you see things you might not appreciate due to over familiarity.
Interesting point about Adventures and Naps: there's a channel called Introverted Expat that's re-posting her content. Not just reacting to, it looks like straight up theft. I've left questions on Alanna's videos asking if it's her second channel, but my comments are always deleted. Who knows, maybe there's a Girl Gone London cover band out there too?
it looks like it's her second channel. the videos are different and they are more informational around the processes required to move to the UK rather than entertainment videos like with Adventures and Naps
I have a strange thing with Simon that I love watching his content and finding him very entertaining but I know I wouldn't get along with him face to face.
I'm another one who found you through JJLA 😊. In turn ,I found JJLA because he often reacts to channels that I watch (Trash Theory , Map Men for example). I live alone , so rarely get to have the Gogglebox type chat while watching an original video . I like hearing other people's opinions while we are both watching somebody elses channel . I also like watching people reacting to tv shows that I love ( but only the ones that watch the whole show ). Taffe316 is great for this . I spent most of Covid watching full TV series with him 😂.
The reaction I value to your videos is my own. That is why I watch your vids. (Yes, a Brit, ex-CA, ex-France, ex-London now Edinburgh. So I'm interested in the cultural shifts. I like your stuff)
Ive been watching your videos long before I fell down the reaction rabbit hole 😊 I love your content. Girl gone rustic was great to see you out and about. I agree with everything you've said here. I think you are being very generous tbh. I wish you every success xxx
I found your channel from JJLA. Maybe TH-cam would have served me up one of your videos eventually, but I pretty much became a subscriber to your channel from his channel. I guess it depends on the size of the creators involved too. There's something known as a _"bump"_ in the streamer world, where one very popular streamer hosting a lesser known streamer will bump up their content, but the benefits diminish when the person being reacted to is already well established or doing okay on their own.
I absolutely LOVE how much genuine love, support & positivity you're getting from this video, as I can only imagine how difficult it was for you to make! KUDOS to you for bravely opening up an important dialogue about it and kudos to the likes of 'JJLA reacts' & 'Mark from the States' who have reached out to you and been so respectful & supportive to you about it (let's hope all the others start to follow their example)
I'm so glad you did this video , how you explained it was very clear . You have not made any nasty comments , but have helped a lay person like my self understand . Now that I am better informed I shall be unsubscribing from Tyler . His comment section is a bit toxic and now I know why . He never reads his comments is a commen complaint . We the audience are not idiots, just not well informed of this industry and how it works . But we can be loyal , see you in the next video ❤
I was unaware that Tyler rumple and his brother have multiple channels. I agree with everything you say. These reactors are potentially stealing money from other people’s work. Spencer from embrace the suck really angered me the other day when he made a post (which he quickly removed but I got a screenshot of it) basically threatening people who don’t like or watch all the way through to the end. Also just before his trip to the UK, he said for us not to ask him about videos that they make as he forgets everything from over 5 reactions ago. That said everything. 0:01 I believe that every reactor should get the permission from the original reactor esp. when they’re making money from it. I’m subscribed to about 2 dozen reactors but they’re getting boring now, most of them have already seen the videos before. I sussed this out again with embrace the suck when they were reacting to Eurovision winners and the 2009 song came up and Spencer stopped it within 2 seconds looking shocked and stared at Daniel saying something like ‘what? That sounds familiar’ Daniel had subscribed to the singers channel but Spencer had no idea who it was. I like Natasha & Debbie, Mcjibbin, itsjps and JJ (who was mentioned in this video). As they all seem actually interested. Great video. Great that someone has made a video about this. I do enjoy them but they do also make me angry LOL My channel is just a channel sharing my fav songs from Eurovision but the clips I share, I make no money from. I just enjoy them but 3 people reacted to my videos and 1 e-mailed for permission. I was like ‘I don’t own the footage, you can react to whatever you like’ 😂
What a scumbag! "Tyler" won't be getting any of my valuable time from now on. I WILL call him out on the very next reaction he does, as should everybody reading this We need to run him out of TH-cam He has used other peoples' videos - without permission - to enrich himself That's scummy. He needs to go.
I like McJibbin (even if he does pause too much) and I like JT reacts because he at least adds some original content, and I like his accent. He and Anna need to do more cooking though because they're useless (which makes the videos funnier)
I stopped watching the Natasha and Debbie channel a long time ago after they skipped an add for the sponsor for the video they were reacting to. It was a Jay Forman video and his sponsor ads are usually as funny as the video itself. So I commented saying that they should watch them as they are very funny and worth the watch. Their response was 'Well we don't make any money from it, so why should we'. I responded with 'Your making money from his content, so you could at least show his sponsor'. They responded again by telling me that they don't care about my opinion and they didn't ask me.
Yes, I've unsubscribed from them, too. The channel's become more of a cult, with N as the grand leader, than a TH-cam channel. They don't have subscribers any more, they have cult members who are required to chant the cult's mantra of "Love like Jazz, be as strong as Tyson"!
@@KernowWarrior I had added a comment to this, but it seems TH-cam censored it as I used a word that begins with 'c', and ends with 'ult', which is what the channel seems to have become. I unsubscribed a while ago.
I've noticed that Tyler occasionally repeats things and acts stupified that he doesn't know it when he reacted a few months before. Thank you for your post. It has opened my eyes!
i found your channel from JJLA i think there are 2 sides to reaction video's it seems, JJLA is a nice guy who credits and genuinely reacts in a good way, adding his own thoughts and often googling and adding extra context to things. i think the reaction video's (the non scummy plagiarism ones ) are a positive thing, you all help each other and piggy back off each others success. a good portion of the reactors subscriber base will likely subscribe to the original creators content if they find it to their tastes, i know i do.
I want to see a video by Tyler Rumple reacting to Foreign Reacts reacting to Girl Gone London's 'what I feel about reaction channels' video talking about reaction channels reacting to her videos. Now that would be a whole lot of chain reactions 😅
Just subscribed because I've seen your videos in said reactions and I completely agree with you, and had already unsubscribed from those who clearly aren't interested in their viewers. Keep up the good work and well done for being able to speak up about this. That takes guts.💙
What would happen when the system identifies the wrong video as the originator? And yes, even the most advanced AI system will bring up some wrong matches. Especially in cases where the video being reacted to wasn't originally created as a TH-cam video.
I am giving your comments some thought. I understand exactly how you feel. I do intend to be more selective with my viewing choices as a result. Please keep making videos, they are much appreciated.
Just as production companies, composers, original artists of any genre or medium, and authors have the right to be paid royalties if their work is used for profit by anyone else, so should producers of original content on TH-cam.
Weirdly i was watching one of channel from an American content from a few Americans and was wondering about this. Yes i too watch Adventures and Naps and i love watching and like you find her fascinating and honesty 😊
A very balanced video, I can see why it would be extremely frustrating to appearing in so many videos. I like JJLA reacts when he does your videos as he always credits the original work and says to like and subscribe. By watching His videos, you’ve actually started being recommended to me again by the algorithm, I’ve subscribed now so I won’t miss any :) Keep up the good work and keep enjoying life in the UK :)
Several of the channels you feature allow comments but never take any notice of them. It's all about the $$$
Can't you Copyright claim them? Or is it 'fair use' sort of situation?
(You should totally put your Channel ID permanently somewhere on screen though. If they react to it, it'll be advertising yours iyswim)
Imitation is the most sincere form flattery.
I find them incredibly irritating.
The ones featured here who tell you to go watch this channel in the video tend to be the ones who respond to comments in their videos. The ones that don't credit, also ignore coments from many people for months on end.
I can imagine Tyler reacting to your reaction to his reacting to your videos and not even noticing it was about him.
That I would like to see.
Sounds like his videos on his multiple channels of reaction videos.
And then do it again in six months and act as if he's never seen it before.
Because he’s a moron
He pauses way too much and mostly makes his video longer than the original
Or just wait six months
Tyler Rumple NEVER replies to anybody so im not surprised he hasn't replied back to you.
Was on sofa last time I saw it
I think Tyler is satirically taking the mick out of the other reaction channels as if you notice at the beginning of his videos at same point of his introduction he seems to slightly wink as he says “I am just an ordinary American”(can’t remember it exactly as his shtick gets old fast after I noticed him doing the slight wink so I don’t watch that channel anymore)
OK, I'll admit Tyler is an above average thief!
TH-cam doing a 75/25 revenue split, in favour of the original creator, feels like an equitable solution.
Millionaire streamers aren't even willing to pay a few dollars a month to license music for their streams.
It should count as a view for both channels.
Hi Kalyn,
Thank you so much for making this video. When I first saw the title, my heart started racing, and when I saw my face, I nearly had a heart attack-I felt like I had just kicked a puppy! By the end of the video, I felt more at ease, but I still wanted to reach out and connect with you directly (and I guess publicly.)
I love your videos and your unique perspective.
Yorkshire puds lol.

@@GeorgeSanders me too
You're getting loads of positive comments on here JJLA. We think you're a class act and top reactor. It speaks volumes that you came straight here to express yourself so eloquently and humbly.
I've watched several JJLA videos where he reacts to you or Evan, and he always puts in tonnes of effort to ensure his reaction is actually transformative. He'll pause the video to Google stuff in order to learn more about the subject, he provides links back to the videos and he outright says that people should like and subscribe to your stuff
Of all the reaction channels, he does it how it should be done
I definitely have been hearing positive things about JJLA reacts and appreciate him for that - he is clearly one of the ethical and brighter sides to the reaction channel community!
JJLA is arguably 1 of the best reaction videos supporting the ordinal creators on TH-cam and can relate to your US connection, searches your points for definition/ similarity to better understanding for all
Yes JJLA is good like that
@@GirlGoneLondonofficial i have enjoyed your stuff on his reactions and he pointed the way here clearly so i subbed to see what else you have to say, which i presume is how things should work if other creators are doing the right thing
yeah JJ is lowkey one of the best around. and for someone with around 40k subscribers it's kinda criminal he doesn't have more!.

“I’m your typical, aaaaverage, American…who asks the stupidest questions imaginable”
That Tyler guy in his various guises is a TH-cam vampire, pure and simple.
And his doppelganger too?
And goodness me is he ever annoying to listen to
"I'm a typical aaaaaverage American..." 😂
He just seems constantly confused about everything. I've stopped watching him because I find him too annoying.
His twin brother does the same thing, but sits in the opposite side if the screen.
JJLA is in a totally different league to that Tyler guy. He's a nice, genuine person and makes entertaining reactions. And always puts links to videos and tells viewers to go watch and subscribe to the channel. I found and subscribed to you because of him!
I did too. JJLA seems like a lovely guy. Tyler crumple however. Cringy AF 😂
I found her because of jjla as well I watch both the original and his reactions
Yep, the Tyler guy treats his audience with contempt. They simply serve a purpose of making him money. Never look at his rubbish now.

JJ also recommends people to like, link, sub & visit the original content creator's channel(s) too though when he can 97% of the time.
JJL reacts is a good one. He always tells us to go to your channel and like your video and he always has valid opinions to add
he also one of the few that remembers he's on the internet and bothers to look up stuff he might not understand
Tyler Rumple - UK
Tyler Walker - Norway
Tyler Bucket - Canada
Here's the things I like about him:
• His face when he gets shocked
Here's what I hate:
• He stopped replying to comments (even in videos where he asks us questions)
• He forget things he has learned many times
• He stopped crediting the original video
• He has a "suggest a video here" link, but never take it seriously
I hate the "shocked" face as it is so fake - he totally over-acts. If you look at really old videos of him or ones of him with his brother, he has a completely different personality and doesn't pull exaggerated faces or constantly laugh at everything including his own patter.
As someone who is subscribed to both you and Alanna’s channels, I would be interested in seeing a collab (video or series) with you both comparing notes about life in the uk and also about life back in your original countries.
Great idea I too watch Alana…let’s go lol
We must make that happen...
100% watch that. Good do a 2 part, 1 on yours and 1 on hers
Alanna's channel is also being used by other reactors to piggy back on without doing much to create original content.
That would be amazing, getting a dual reaction to the same thing. I've always had the assumption that because Canada is right there, above USA they know, and do the same things, but Canadians are more like us in the UK that I realised. Sorry, and being overly polite being one of those things
I watched about thirty of a Tyler Rumble reaction video, by mistake, and noticed that his reactions are like someone who has never left their bedroom.
And has a 2second memory
He can't, he's stuck in there watching videos on four countries to react to, and recording the ones he chooses for his five channels, for twenty hours a day.
@@MSFSFreeware I've found his Norway, British & Canada channels (and an unused Japan one) what are his other ones?
His brother has 3 different reaction channels too - It is completely unfair and unethical that he and his brother are profiting from other hard-working creators' content by simply sitting in a chair, making a few facial expressions, pausing the video every so often to make a few comments of their own and spewing out multiple videos of this type, that requires very little editing.

Maybe people should sing their videos instead
I’m a sucker for reaction channels and my experience with one of the creators that you mentioned led me to be a lot more discerning about which channels I follow, I hope this video helps others to do the same
Tyler Rumple is by far and away the worst offender in this regard. I have asked him on many occasions to link to the original video in the comments but to no avail. He doesn't even respond to the comments on his own reaction videos and his "Cavalier" attitude does not fit well with the small 'American reacts to' community. 😠

I'd absolutely though get in touch with JJLA he's a real good guy
Legal Eagle broke down the legal no-no's of reaction videos, where doing these things could be considered stealing content:
- Not citing the source
- Playing the original in its entirety
- Adding nothing of value, and/or nothing transformative in nature.
In particular, Legal Eagle was critical of xQc, who livestreamed someone's content for hours, and left it playing while he went to the toilet.
I remember seeing that one.
I've never subscribed to a TH-cam channel before. But this video struck such a chord that I've just subscribed to your channel. This was truly fascinating subject matter. I've watched several reaction videos in the past, but I had never really considered how much easier it was to make a reaction video than to make actual original content.
Let's see if Tyler WhatsHisName reacts to this one
I used to watch Tyler Rumple, but I stopped watching a while ago. He doesn't give credit to the original creator and rarely comments on posts. He's pretty boring to be honest.
And pauses every 3 seconds
Perhaps there ought to be a proifit sharing rule implemented by TH-cam. Say, for example, Natasha & Debbie were to use 80% of one of your videos (they are free to cut out some bits) and that your video makes up 40% of their video. Then you ought to receive 80% x 40% = 32% of whatever monetisation they receive for their video.
Whenever he starts his videos with "I'm just an average American......" No. No you're not, lol.
I agree, but it's depressing to think he may be right!
@@ianpunter4486 lol 🙂
I mentioned this to you in your comments. Hope your message gets heard and keep the videos coming.
Definitely will keep the videos coming! Thank you!
Tyler rumble is a pain he seems to react to one video one week then the following week watch another video with some of the same stuff then pretend he doesn't know about it and he never interacts with his viewers I no longer watch him
Tyler Rumple, Tyler Burger, Tyler Bucket, Tyler Walker
Ryan Wurzer, Ryan Was, Ryan Wass
Ryan and Tyler
Twice the TH-cam leeching
Are they not the same person?
@@sinkalaj They are twins
Tyler Bucket ? Any relation to Hyacinth 😅
@@scottwebb1978 None. That woman had 'class'.
I totally agree with practically everything you’ve said on here. I found you (and other creators) through reaction channels but have realised my views would be going to them instead of the original creator, so I’ve mostly stopped doing this, particularly when they’re very recent videos. You are so right to point this out to us all, you work hard and deserve the views that you’ve earned (certainly more than Tyler, who is EXTREMELY annoying and NEVER reads his comments, no matter how much he gets screamed at!)
Love your videos, please keep making them and I promise to watch your originals 🤗
@@xneurianxsame here. He’s the only reaction channel I can stomach
Same I really enjoy his reactions JJLA
Ditto
@@xneurianxI unsubbed because he wouldn't stop doing this stupid and annoying BAM or BOOM sound effect and text on screen. Does he still do that?
I've been guilty of suggesting your videos for other reaction channels to react to because your explanations are so comprehensive, insightful and well delivered. They have not yet reacted to any of your content thus far but they do give credit to other content creators they feature.
I got a little pissed off upon hearing that only 1 reaction channel has reached out to ask your permission for using your content.
I would like to add that etiquette and courtesy are taught and unfortunately some people just haven't received enough of those teachings in their formative years.
P.s
"she's the better Canadian version of you"
😂😂😂 Never.
@@GirlGoneLondonofficialhe definitely is! Found your channel through him
Thanks for the great insight as usual.
As long as they leave a link, it's a free advert, I have subbed to channels through reaction videos.
i found your channel by watching a JJLA video, so sometimes it is a good idea. btw JJLA seems to be a genuine good guy i cant see him stealing your content on purpose, but i cant speak for the others doing it, ive never watched any of theirs.
There are many UK/USA channels, but I find yours worth watching because you actually research stuff the others don’t bother with. This probably makes your channel more attractive to the reactors as there are so many less engaging videos out there.
Well said 👍Tyler rumple is so irritating with his constant waffle and pausing, he never gives the person he is reacting to a chance to get to the point, I’ve seen 2/3 of his videos, and now no longer watch him, as I have seen a long time ago that he just rips off everyone else’s videos and inanely interruptes constantly, I’m sure he was vaccinated with a gramophone needle as a child 😂keep up the good work 🎉❤
I had to stop watching him, so annoying how he never shuts up 😅
Kudos for the Bon Jovi reference.
I have actively done ‘hide the user’ option from my TH-cam for some of these fraudsters.
Another thing about videos of someone foreign experiencing your country is that a pair of fresh eyes helps you see things you might not appreciate due to over familiarity.
There is a channel where a chef reacts to other chefs online videos and then, unbelievably, another chef reacts to the reaction video!
That's so tedious
Interesting point about Adventures and Naps: there's a channel called Introverted Expat that's re-posting her content. Not just reacting to, it looks like straight up theft. I've left questions on Alanna's videos asking if it's her second channel, but my comments are always deleted. Who knows, maybe there's a Girl Gone London cover band out there too?
It's her, but as it's a channel aimed exclusively at non-Brits she doesn't really advertise it. She doesn't want YT screwing up the algorithm. 😅
it looks like it's her second channel. the videos are different and they are more informational around the processes required to move to the UK rather than entertainment videos like with Adventures and Naps
@@antygod Kalyns other channel is "All-American Atlas" its rather good
I see you on so many channels I fear you are in danger of becoming Simon Whistler with hair. 🤣
Simon has plenty of hair. It's just on his chin.
There is another channel that tv shows and movies. They are blind wave. I watch them quite a lot and they are good.
The reaction I value to your videos is my own. That is why I watch your vids. (Yes, a Brit, ex-CA, ex-France, ex-London now Edinburgh. So I'm interested in the cultural shifts. I like your stuff)
I've just unsubscribed from Tyler Rumple.
I believe that every reactor should get the permission from the original reactor esp. when they’re making money from it.
I do enjoy them but they do also make me angry LOL
My channel is just a channel sharing my fav songs from Eurovision but the clips I share, I make no money from. I just enjoy them but 3 people reacted to my videos and 1 e-mailed for permission. I was like ‘I don’t own the footage, you can react to whatever you like’ 😂
Hi Karl,
I LIKE'd your Comment, even though it was in someone else's Channel. 😂
@@seanmcmichael2551 😂😂
What a scumbag! "Tyler" won't be getting any of my valuable time from now on.
I WILL call him out on the very next reaction he does, as should everybody reading this
We need to run him out of TH-cam
He has used other peoples' videos - without permission - to enrich himself
That's scummy.
He needs to go.
I like McJibbin (even if he does pause too much) and I like JT reacts because he at least adds some original content, and I like his accent. He and Anna need to do more cooking though because they're useless (which makes the videos funnier)
@@Zippy66 at least JT and Anna have plenty of help to clean up any spilled food in the kitchen. 😆
I haven’t watched them in a loong time but I didn’t know they were like that. 😮
About what I'd expect from them TBH
Yes, I've unsubscribed from them, too. The channel's become more of a cult, with N as the grand leader, than a TH-cam channel. They don't have subscribers any more, they have cult members who are required to chant the cult's mantra of "Love like Jazz, be as strong as Tyson"!
I stopped watching them as they come across as 'my way or the highway' and their gushing over British military stuff.
Food for thought there Kalyn. Thanks for the content you create, and may your channel grow. X
Just subscribed because I've seen your videos in said reactions and I completely agree with you, and had already unsubscribed from those who clearly aren't interested in their viewers.
Keep up the good work and well done for being able to speak up about this. That takes guts.💙
Wow I'm so sorry. I didn't know any of this. I've unsubscribed from a certain channel mentioned.
Shame TH-cam doesn't automatically give the originator 20% of their earnings.
What would happen when the system identifies the wrong video as the originator? And yes, even the most advanced AI system will bring up some wrong matches. Especially in cases where the video being reacted to wasn't originally created as a TH-cam video.
@@stephengray1344 that's true.
Adventures and Naps, Magic Geekdom, Reacting to My Roots, Natasha & Debbie, JJLA, ItsJPS, Girl Gone London - all sound and enjoyable content.
Vague posting about Tyler was hilarious. lol
I was waiting for this video to appear, lol
I thoroughly enjoy watching JJLA, but I always watch the original video first.
Wholly agree
Weirdly i was watching one of channel from an American content from a few Americans and was wondering about this. Yes i too watch Adventures and Naps and i love watching and like you find her fascinating and honesty 😊
A very balanced video, I can see why it would be extremely frustrating to appearing in so many videos.
I like JJLA reacts when he does your videos as he always credits the original work and says to like and subscribe. By watching His videos, you’ve actually started being recommended to me again by the algorithm, I’ve subscribed now so I won’t miss any :)
Keep up the good work and keep enjoying life in the UK :)
Yes JJLA is good
Funnily enough, I was just thinking the other day that some "reactors" are only reacting to other people's reactions ...
