To find out if you can fly in an area, check the B4UFly app. if it requires Laanc approval, sadly you won't know until they deny or approve you. Also Airmap and I also recommend the UAV forecast app.
"Here I sit broken harted, tried to Sh*t but only farted. Sometime later, took a chance, tried to fart and Sh*t my pants......."
All in all, not a bad video. Keep on practicing and you will get the hang of it and the confidence. Btw, "Inverted" means upside down. I kept cringing every time you said it. lol. I know what you meant as the controls are reversed when "nose in" (Nose of the aircraft pointed at you)

Love that razor sharp wit. So at the 9:24 mark where you backed out, no. In editing, make it look like you just flew under it already. No one is going to know the diff. Great 1st flight, just the same.

But great that you are getting out there and flying on your own. The more you fly the more you get confident and it will show in your videos. Hey ashleigh,so first of all what app do you use for your Flight approval? I use Kittyhawk. If you go on there check on the map before you go you’ll be able to see if you can fly in that location. So I really enjoyed this video I thought you put a lot into it what do you use for editing software and do you do your own editing? I really enjoyed the part where you had a little accident LOL. And I was really impressed when you flew through those two poles on the dock. You’re doing really well with that little Mavic mini practice makes perfect keep the videos coming girl I really enjoyed it and God bless and stay safe. Michael

Hi Ashleigh. I use "Kittyhawk". I can look up the area and mark the location I am going to fly just like I'm getting an authorization, but I do not complete the authorization. I'm not sure what app you are using, but I am sure you will get it figured out. You are doing great!!!! I was EXTREMELY nervous the first time I went under a bridge. Don't even sweat it. You will get it. Just plan your move and just take your time. I have been flying for 3 years and I am still not real good at it. As Ken would say, "practice, practice, practice. Hahaha..

    • @Davidmwalter
      @Davidmwalter 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Loved the first video Ashleigh, and all the details leading up to it ...... Its good you are comfortable to share it warts an all!
Your commentary over the video is excellent!
You are so brave to fly near so much stuff and over water in your apprenticeship. I would pick some where over land for your early clips. Hit something near water and its gone ... over land and it may still fly.
Now to matters medical, as a seasoned tablet taker learn to take your stuff as prescribed and don't forget breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
Have you seen the Mento sweets put into Coke ? If you took that pill with a carbonated drink that may have been your problem.

You are doing great with the drone. Just fly whenever you can. My first drone flight with my Phantom 4 Advanced was actually over the TN River in Knoxville. It was COLD when I was there. I think it was January of 2018. I have since flown at Lake Tellico at Fort Loudon. I don't know if you saw my recommendation for a movie for you to watch, so here's the title again. "The Ultimate Gift". It's not a horror movie, but it's a great story. Here's a link to my TN river flight. It's short. Not quite 2 minutes. As you will see, I was learning at the young age of 71. Take care. Oh, I like the new length of your hair.

Hi Ashleigh. Been watching your millennial movie reviews and enjoy them a lot. Came across this video and wanted to comment. A little late I know but something about it struck me when you talked about working up the courage to fly and getting frustrated. I experience the very same thing every time I go out. Can't count how many times I've gone out to drone, driven around for an hour and then give up and come home. I have a lot of anxiety when people are around. Always afraid of getting confronted by some cranky person or getting in trouble somehow. Just wanted to say keep going if you enjoy it. With persistence you'll find lots of great places to fly and be inspired. I have a youtube channel with all my flights if you are interested. Keep doing what you are doing. You are doing great!

Hi Ashleigh obviously quite an old video of yours ... anyhow, does the Mini allow you to fly "FPV" mode , so you can watch from the perspective of your drone on the mobile? If so, maybe even the DJI Simulator works and you can tryout some fancy moves there, before risking your own drone :) I started out with the DJI FPV, which is like x times more scary due to the fricking price of that thing, but it is amazing, what you can actually do ... Keep it up, your channel is great!

Hey look at sub number just explode Ashleigh you're a budding talent, just don't let it consume you, the more you I've the more they want. You're young on't become a TH-cam jockey. Keep that radio job. The best work I ever did was spinning the tunes and becoming profoundly deaf because of it. That and certain radio shenanigans when I was younger that got me fired but hey, Chicago. the all Polish radio station had my number. Kinda cool to have a niche job for a bit. I still very mu8ch love radio. Also great video, I'll leave it at that. I've been flying over 2 years and I've yet to really do any water stuff close to what you did there. Scares me and I don't wanna lose my 1000.00 DJI Goodness. As for the Depression thing, hope you're doing well As someone who deals with an ongoing MI issues it can be hard. Highly creative but hard. You're doing great! Sorry so long, I do that.

Early in vid: disappointed you didn't mean first time in an airplane.
@6:20 - really, really happy you weren't in an airplane!
I used to be terrified at the idea of flying. That much metal has no business being in the air. Especially not with me in it. But I did it, flew from the West Coast to the East and back again. That first trip was scary in all kinds of ways, and I'd totally forgotten about the Great Lakes. That's some waking nightmare material. That high up, and still no land on the horizon. Crashing's bad enough, don't fucking make me drown too.
Terrific video, though, the train and bridge are cool enough! Found your channel a few days ago, big movie fan so I couldn't resist. Abigail J. Cat here says hi to Beans.

AWESOME video! Love the personal touches at the beginning. And so funny!! You are a natural TH-camr. Maybe turn the music level down a bit, it was super loud compared to your talking audio. I'd love to see some collaboration videos with you and Ken. But make sure that YOU are running the video on your channel, boss Ken around! He'll love it! :) One important suggestion: make sure and set your return to home Altitude on the your drone BEFORE you take off. It would be terrible if you flew under the bridge, lost contact, and the drone turned around on its own to return to home and crashed into the bridge! And I think the term you were looking for wasn't "inverted" (that means upside-down), but "flying towards me", which means the controls will be reversed. You seem to be doing a great job at flying, considering how new you are at this. Can't wait for your next video.

Hey Ashleigh! Great job! You'll get over the water fear fast! But being honest, I'm not a fly through kind of guy myself so you have great instinct without even knowing! In the open air we know we're clear; except for the occasional re-entry of space junk of course. So be cautious any structure might mean invisible hangy things waving in the air as even a piece of thread will mess up your day. Also here's what I adapted for myself when I first started out and still always do... Do not fly all the way back to yourself and land in what you called inverted. That is, if you have obstacles around you like you did here... Use the KISS method as your finger muscle memory is naturally oriented to non-inverted. Why? If a gust of wind comes up suddenly, a bird invades your space, a stow-a-away pops into the scene after a Boeing 737 pilot coming in for a landing opens his landing gear, or anything else flusters you into a quick oh-no moment, YOU WILL jerk your sticks to non-inverted without realizing. So eliminate the risk by flipping back around before re-entering the Ashleigh zone! Have a great day!

I love that advice because flying inverted makes me incredibly nervous. I never thought about space junk either... I have so much to learn!!

@@awkwardashleigh ME TOO! You'll be good!!! You just need to learn the love language of flying with the particular drone you're flying with... Here's another base technique I use for ALL... Always leave 20-30 percent of battery in the tank when we return because we know these particular type of batteries like that much for good health, longevity, and storage. Mark your batteries 1,2,3. Only charge (to full) and fly the day you know you'll be flying. If last flight was battery 1, charge 2 yadda yadda. Prior to flight do a pre-flight check on battery 1 with battery 2 (full) in the pocket. Place on the pad (battery 1), start the app, and see how everything checks out? IMU warnings? Compass warnings? Fix all if any. If all good, let the satellites continue to connect on the pad for 3-4 minutes on battery 1. When you feel good, shutdown the drone down and replace with battery 2. You'll notice the acquisition of satellites will be very fast to recover from your battery 1 pre-flight warm-up. After 10-12 satellites acquired and again no warnings, launch with battery 2 at 100-99% full. Have a ball for 20/25+ good minutes (Mini) not having wasted any current battery on pre-flight feel-good warm-up. As for space junk or Boeing 737 stow-aways, never encountered thank God or we'd be corresponding on a different (mentally problematic) youtube board... Enjoy, stay healthy, and fly high!
