An electronic failure on the lead locomotive forced the driver to shut it down in the section whilst driving. He then activated the pilot mode on the lead locomotive that enabled him to control the active locomotive from it to continue to the next station. He then swapped the locomotives around to continue with the rest of his journey.

I always enjoy watching coupling action.You witnessed something rather rare in that the locomotives were shunting and coupling on the mainline. Great work 👏🏾
Thank you, my good friend. I agree. It's definitely a very rare sight here on the NATCOR mainline
The train and their flatbed carriages are empty is that really cost effective...???😮. No wonder Transnet are bankrupt...😅😂😊
Goodbarbenie, most certainly not. Unfortunately, this is an everyday occurrence here on the NATCOR mainline. I rest my case 😌
which country is this?
South Africa.
@robertmayer4415 Thank you. 100% correct.
South Africa
Hi Jaco so when a Loco is in pilot mode like in this case he has no power and the other locos are pushing the lead loco.. Help me if if it is not correct
Correct. But driver still have control from the front loco. He draw control current from the 2nd loco and clear the section to the nearest station . Driver on pension.
@williehill7909 thank you for the information. 100% correct.
That's correct, my friend. As Willie stated, he still has control of the other locomotives drawing current from the second locomotive.
Thanks Jaco you are teaching us interesting things that happen on the rails!! 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃
You're welcome, Willy 🙏
look at the state of things what a shocking shame.
lol long the trains running, lots of rain here in kzn, so that is why you see weeds and trees close to tracks, even railways in the UK and the USA like that!
So much time and effort wasted..😮
