Finally seeing your reaction. IU is deaf and mute while Tae is one eyed blind, their chemistry is exceptional, also IU voice is like an angel and both of their acting are sooooooo incredible. Hoping for their movie together someday. 🥰💛💜

There are so many layers of story telling and metaphors and the director has explained what the storyline is. It’s a beautiful way for him to convey the message. In addition to this one part of my interpretation is based on the fact that Tae is blind in one eye and has burn scars around that eye. You can see at the beginning he is looking vulnerable, fragile and afraid. IU is leading him and is protective throughout. My interpretation is that he had encountered the cube before and narrowly escaped being captured and so is going through all the emotions from it. At the end, you see IU trying to protective him by picking up the metal bar because (to me) she knows what he went through and wants to protect him. And Tae taking the bar and attacking the cube looks to me like he knows what the cube is capable of and despite his fear of it, he wants to protect her. At the end it didn’t work and you can see the cube glow red with heat and smoke coming off their bodies (burn marks around his eyes). The ending was so poignant.
The song was amazing and felt more epic because of the storyline and visuals. They have great chemistry, first with the amazing duet they did on IU’s Palette and now with their acting skills, not to mention their interactions as friends. It’s so good to see Tae being able to express his acting skills even in a 5minute short. I hope he starts doing movies on his return. This movie really makes everyone feel emotional and they did that with their facial expressions, truly stunning. IU is queen for a reason and Tae our idol of idols never disappoints in his unique take on life and the choices he makes, whether to make an album of music he likes or to act in a short film all choices with a sad, emotionally moving ending. He wants his artistry to move us emotionally rather than hit the top spots on charts. Love these two artists. It’s time to stop calling this kpop.
These two with their amazing acting, packed in 5 mins all the emotions to convey the storyline (top tier level) that most kdramas do in 16 episodes.

V seems that he can't see only with his right side eye (but can use left eye) so IU covered his left eye to protect it.
I don't think she covered it to protect it, she covered his good eye so that he wouldn't have to see the horror of their imminent doom coming.

I'm so glad you were able to film there, and welcome to the great guest!!! This MV is so beautiful, and the song is on another level seriously, it gets better everytime. A lot of ppl have been speculating that the cube represents society, fitting into a box, the scrutinizing press, and the couple represents those that do not fit (hence why blind and mute), and feel hunted for it, and the camera is the embodiment of hope, and love but it's just a tool in our hands and it's up to us to use it properly.
Love wins all because they they loved each other so much, they preferred to die together. When V returns from military service, I hope that he and IU make this a kdrama. Even if we already know what will happen to them, it would be nice to see how they met, fell in love and when the invasion started.
Same here. I would so love the back story and per the making of there was an additional end scene. It would be great to see that scene and any others that rumors have it were cut from the final version.
Better storytelling than most movies. Actors who can convey so much without dialogue blow my mind, they were incredible. And the SONG... oh my god. The whole experience is heartbreaking. Watch more times, you find more.

The cube 'Nemo' represents the discrimination towards marginalized people (symbolized in IU being mute and Taehyung being blind in one eye).
They stayed together till the end with their love sustained, free from all oppression and pressure from society.

Love is directly connected to God because it is peace and contentment even when in the midst of a storm or at the end of life. Their love won because it looked past their disabilities (blindness and deafness), and it won again when she was scared, but was able to put her own fear aside to cover his eye, and it won because they stuck with each other until the very end. I have been so eager for you to react to this, I'm so happy!
Such a beautiful and emotional video featuring amazing acting and vocals that makes the experience so personal. I really do hope that Tae & IU do other projects together both film and music as they have great chemistry and when he was on her show their voices also blended so well. In addition, I would also love for Tae and IU to do a whole Kdrama of this plot when he returns from his MS so we can get the full backstory. It's amazing how invested I got in them in such a short amount of time. It really showcases the masterpiece that this MV is.
I noticed the right side of his face seems to have burn scars so maybe he had encountered a cube before but got away at the last minute. This cube was relentless in its pursuit and even seemed to change size so it could come into the building. Earlier when it was flying overhead you could tell no way it could fit inside those hallways. Also the cube waits for them to stop fighting and accept their fate. If you notice there are no other people so obviously no person is able to meet the criteria this cube holds that would allow someone to survive. The camcorder that kept showing a better reality, was giving us the viewer a happier version of the events. They both rise in the air together, their bodies still solid, while the reality is that they have been turned to ash. At the top of the camcorder right before it turns off you see ash particles in the air. I also loved how the clothes landed together on the pile. Again all of this symbolizing that even though they seemingly lost to the cube, it couldn't destroy their love for each other. They stayed together in life and death, so indeed their love did win. I can't get enough of this MV, the acting is Oscar level and combined with the award worthy vocals and lyrics it's both heartbreaking but also heartwarming that at least they went together.
I hope you watch/react to the behind the scenes shoot videos. A long one was posted on IU's channel and a shorter one on the Bangtan channel and both compliment each other with both having some scenes and commentary exclusive to that version. 💜
