Very rarely can you find Lully's music, it was a pleasure and very well done.
I think that most of the audience had come expecting to play Bingo
Huge fun - and I found the audience especially hilarious. Great music, energetic performance and humourless, anally-retentive spectators. What more could we ask?
Haha my exact reaction too😂
The comfort of Lully‘s music is unrivaled
The wonderfulness of this dance is outclassing
an ottoman diplomat called 28 Mehmet Çelebi, visited france early 18th century. in his memory, this march conposed.
I was directed back to this video by a strange reply to my previous comment. On watching the video again, I still can't believe how uninterested the audience appears to be. Hardly a smile throughout the performance. Were they actually expecting Andre Rieu?
This performance brings magic to the music! Thank you,
I'm afraid I have to disagree. For me, the initial dancers brought a sense of buffoonery to this beautiful Lully composition.
@@stewall101 It is meant to be, Lully composed this to mock the turks due to their behavior when they came to France
You've missed the point. This is a sequence from the final act of Molière and Lully's musical comedy 'Le bourgeois gentilhomme" which consists mostly of flamboyant buffoonery set to pompous music. This is because the principal character, Monsieur Jourdain, is a pretentious, social-climbing buffoon who really belongs in the Conservative Party. His daughter's (disappointingly middle class) love interest is trying to make Jourdain think that he is an Ottoman prince who is seeking his daughter's hand.
I guess you really have to know the play.
What a so great performance, so great choreography...!!! Moreover, I see at the ending the Turkish flee from the Polish warrior and it reminds me Jan Sobieski, the great King of Poland.
Wspaniali Turcy. Pozdrowienia z Łomży :)
La genialidad de lully no tenia limites.
Una scenografia magica per una musica magica. Grazie!!
Love this music
Bravo!
Fort beau!!!
Awful public, doesn't deserve this beautiful effort
I think so too. They look so bored, so indifferent.
it's because it's in the "Podlasie" voivodeship/region, being the subject of many jokes about how behind they are and in general, known as the worst region of Poland (ofc it's a stereotype, but there's a true part two ;)
Jk btw
Whilst the music is fantastic, this dance performance is pathetic... how lacklustre could a dance possibly be?
They looked like they were at the funeral of a distant acquaintance.
It's quite a good approximation of 17th century French comic ballet and I don't find it lacklustre at all.
Wunderbar.
Extraordinary!
Intéressant
Bravo voor de dansers
Super
very lovely
SUPER.
Great music supplemented by musical theatre. The lack of enthusiasm displayed by the audience is curious.
Eran todos viejos amargados, puff
a souless europe
Beautiful perforando. The lack of interest of the audience is very sad
Yes, what's with those stony-faced people?
@@alcosnow5046 jajaja todos viejitos aburridos
Awesom! But you could change the thumb picture i think!! ;)
Joli !
Very cery cool
🇫🇷. 👌. 💐. 🙏🏻
Could the audience possibly look more bored?
Lol
Excellent mockery of Turkish culture
It must be said that turkish culture rises.Iran is the combined state arab roman civilizations .A ballet that mocks this culture will not bring it down .After all,the TURKS gave the world dozens of marshals and artist .You were content whit what you heard from your flowery palaces
if you have a palace 😊
Anlatılmak istenen başka bir şey, sergilenen başka bir şey, gerçek bambaşka bir şey, seyircinin beklentisi başka bir şey. Büyük ihtimal geniş vakitte sergilenen kısa bir gösteri.
Giovanni Battista Lulli
Si !!

Were the audience captured somewhere? They all look bored to sobs, as for the lassie at the back playing with her phone!! Good grief I feel sorry for the performers 😮
Coreografia ridicola !
The funeral service is in the next room, oh shit!!!!

Louis"'in huzuruna çıkmış olan "Müteferrika Süleyman Ağa" dolayısıyla ortaya çıkmıştı. Bu elçi Fransız Kralı'nın huzurunda, Osmanlı Sultanı'nın sarayının, kendine "Güneş Kral" ismini uygun gören, Fransız Kralı XIV. Louis'in sarayından kat kat güzel olduğunu söyleyerek Fransızlar arasında bir skandal yaratmıştı.
L'interprétation manque d'allant!
Ablamlar çok sıkılmış. 😂 "Yüzlerinden düşen bin parça" 😂

this audience is FKN passive. no emotional reactions at all. what s that ?????? IT S LULLY FOOLISH AUDIENCE.....IT S J.B LULLY !!!!
Should we make a ridicilous coreography about French culture and call it ART?!
You have missed the point. It's a historically informed approximation of 17th century comic ballet, and the music is incidental to Molière's satirical play "Le bourgeois gentilhomme", which incorporated grandiose music and dance. This was the nature of comic theatre in France at the time. The programme notes read : "L'entrée des scaramouches": the entry of the zanies or clowns.
