    Super nt has an official jailbreak that allows you to load roms

    • @ericochoa4034

      Yup you get access to most of the library minus some special chip games. You could also go the everdrive route and get almost 100 percent compatibility with games library.

    Pretty slick review. You've got a great voice and delivery for this sort of content. A couple notes I might add are:
    * The included controllers with the SNES Classic have fairly short wires (~3 feet), so unless you have a way to move the console further from the TV you're probably going to sit on the floor.
    * It's fairly easy to add unofficial ROMs to the SNES Classic, but the quality of the emulation is generally poor with disappearing sprites and no hi-res feature.
    * The SNES Classic comes bundled with a finished, previously unreleased version of StarFox 2. The Super Nt comes bundled with a finished, previously unreleased version of Super Turrican, as well as Super Turrican 2.
    * There is a custom firmware for the Super Nt that allows you to backup cartridges to an SD Card and run them from the card itself, as well as store save files on the card instead of the battery system.
    * 8bitdo sells inexpensive adapters for Bluetooth controllers to use on the Super Nt.
    * A genuine Super Nintendo with a lag-free HDMI upscaler costs more than a Super Nt.

    One of the best things on the snes controler was the buttons. Not just the way they were formatted, but the shape. The bottom to buttons are pillows while the top 2 are concave. This is such a slight yet amazing design choice which makes it so you dont accidentally push a button you didnt want to and it's just more comfortable.
    Also, I wanna say that I get so happy when you upload! I really love talking about games and systems even when I dont know a whole lot about them. Dont ever stop!

      I ended up picking up most of the major mini consoles. They’ve been fun to relive those old games and discover new ones. I never had a Genesis, so that one has been extremely enlightening to play. I think the biggest benefit they offer are their controllers. Playing those retro games with the controller they were designed to be played with is absolute bliss.

    After spending the last couple weeks playing SNES games on a well-implemented FPGA core, I could never go back to emulation, whether through Wii, Switch or a mini console. the responsiveness doesn’t approach that of the original hardware or FPGA.
    Super NT is an excellent option, but I’d rather have Mister FPGA any day, for the sheer number of different console cores.

    Shame that Analogue keep their production low so only way to get one is through scalpers for a high markup. Most Analogue preorders now sell out in a few hours(i would imagine its 80% resellers) because most ends up on ebay.

    I just tried both on a gaming monitor and you just can’t beat the response time and picture quality of the super nt. I’m sure there’s still some lag but playing just feels so instantaneous with 0 picture noise
    The main downside of a super nt is you better have your Super Nintendo games ready or else get ready to pay up lol. I see people saying you can play roms on it but what’s the point of paying all that money for a console that plays games in real time just to play Roms on it.

    • @NeanderMeander
      @NeanderMeander  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So true! The Super NT is the better experience. But as you said, the games will cost you if you don’t have them.
      As for the roms, from what I understand, playing them from the SD card is the same as playing a cartridge. The experience is no different. But I’m with you. My Super NT runs the firmware from Analogue and is only used to play original cartridges. Luckily I still have quite a few from my childhood.

      @NeanderMeander  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment! It's really good to hear differing opinions. Here's a few thoughts I had after reading your comment: The SNES Classic Edition has exceptional value. Even keeping it unmodded you have a great collection of games. Though, you can mod it and put whatever games you want on there. Though, the Super NT is not just a Super Nintendo from the 1990's. It's a modern Super Nintendo. It outputs in 1080p which is a better resolution compared to the SNES Classic Edition that outputs in 720p. Also, the Super NT can be jail-broken to play whatever Super Nintendo games you want play off the SD card. Also, the SNES Classic Edition uses emulation to play games. In contrast, the Super NT is an FPGA based system that is cycle accurate to an original Super Nintendo. I thought comparing the two was valid taking into account what each console does.
      Keep in mind that these videos are just for fun and shouldn't be taken as some sort of religious truth. It's good to hear differing opinions. Thanks again for commenting

    And now you can buy a $20 DIY kit from 8Bitdo and convert these to 2.4 GHz controllers that will work with the original SNES. :)

      I also reach for the Super NT pretty much every time now. I still like the SNES Classic, but it just isn’t as good as the Super NT.

    Well, you can do what I did is what I did is I took the membranes, buttons, D pad, and all the insides and shell and assemble a brand new controller. All you need is a old super Nintendo controller with a good PCB board and a good cable swap out the shell and buttons and membranes reassemble and bada bing brand new super Nintendo controller with a super Nintendo controller port you’re welcome.😊

      @@FostaFunk I don't know if they'll make any more of them. It seems like people want them, so it would make sense for Analogue to make more.

    SNES classic is nothing special, more or less a ripoff, $80 for emulation! come on bro. plus is no longer available for $80 so good luck.
    however, the production quality of your work is superb

    • @NeanderMeander
      @NeanderMeander  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! I'm happy to hear that you like my work. I wouldn't say the SNES Classic is a ripoff. Emulation isn't ideal for me an many others, but some people don't mind emulating their games. Getting an official system loaded with games with for a low prices initially was a good deal! You're right that you can't find one for $80 anymore. Paying over $80 for one now isn't worth it.
