Great Job man! I finally relocated to Florida from Colorado and will be on the market soon for a boat myself :) I work in the aviation industry (avionics) and two parts chaffing is always on my mind. The whole time when you were building the drain I couldn't stop thinking that even when you have your storage on top of the drain your going to get some rubbing. I also like to keep my things looking nice and just want to pass on a few rough ideas that may help if you want it. 1. Rubber weather seal to put on the bottom of your drain where it touches your boat (this can be RTV'd on the bottom of the drain). 2. Silicone (30 year) and run a 1/4 bead on the bottom of the drain (areas that will contact the boat) let it dry and you will have a great nonslip drain when you place it in there and no chaffing. Like I said rough ideas! Stay safe and keep the videos coming man!
15-sec-of Fame thanks bud and yes that a great idea and i did think about that the rubbing on the floor and i was thinking of a small towel to help with that but your ideas are great ,and im like you i like my thinks to look charp all the time. Welcome to florida soon Cap.
Great idea as always, I have no idea why Yamaha doesn't sponsor you all you do is push and improve their product to the max. Anyways they might not care but we sure do thx again CAP.
Maykel Garcia thanks Maykel they dont care about my solutions they just like my free TH-cam advertising i have help them sell more then a million dollars in sales by my viewers with my videos allready. Thanks Cap.
I have been always getting water in the boat. Fixed that anchor drain- but still getting water from the rear. So i backed up on the ramp, leaving my boat strapped to trailer, and sure enough, once i backed up 2 feet of the boat, i saw water coming in. I checked the transducer hole, the drains, look good. Where else could the water be coming from? Exhaust? The jet pump? I dont have a problem as long as bilge pump is on, but if i turn it off for 2 hrs, engine compartment gets full of water.
@aztxtransport2776 yes cap. Now I got Yamaha outboards and they are mutch better and easier to maintain too, I just change the engine my self and got a brand new 225 hp
Wonder if you could remove the installed plug holder and install a one way ball check or duck bill valve so water would allways drain out and would not get back in? Just my two cents. Good job on video .. FYI I still have not bought one yet I still hold out I think Yamaha will build a bigger boat like you diagram. :)
kf4exw thats a great idea but the location of that installation will always leave some small amout of water ,and yes a 24 foot Yamaha boat with twin 1.8 liter engines will be a dream im sure it will be sooner than we think. Is better to wait for to get the boat you want. Ride safe Cap.
If the wood doesn't last I highly recommend kings Starboard it comes in several different colors and won't biodegrade and you won't have to treat it ever.
Since I siliconed both of those drain plugs in the storage area and I haven't have any more flooding in that compartment. Amazingly, Yamaha does not seal up the the female portion of the drain plug! It's just two screws holding them in.
socal33 yes i saw that just 2 screws and no silicone . That was a great option for you and is not permanent you can allways remove the silicone. Very smart Navigate safe my frind
Out On The Reef yes, when blades dull down it'll start heating up and burning the wood where it cuts. Sharp blades won't leave any black marks after you cut. As always, keep up the great vids.

Great idea. But maybe you could have poured some epoxy resin and raised the bottom to the hole? And then build the grate?

Great idea man! But grab yourself a new blade for that circular saw! Diablo blades from HD, best I’ve found.
Ian Hood thanks Ian , is that why it was burning tha wood?
Out On The Reef yes, when blades dull down it'll start heating up and burning the wood where it cuts. Sharp blades won't leave any black marks after you cut. As always, keep up the great vids.
