Doing Judo with no penalties for holding the belt is so muxh fun. Its crazy how effective using the hips to off balance instead of the collar. It definitely changes the sport and the principles so i get why it's not allowed but its fun.
Haven’t seen it yet but not any guy who just started grappling can compare to sensei shintaro he’s down every grappling art since a child. He’s on another level
Seth's progress is indeed impressive but he's more than just a novice at this point. He played college football which has some commonalities with sumo (especially the tachiai) and he has been dabbling in various grappling arts for years on his channel. You can go watch his videos on Judo, BJJ, catch wrestling, American folk wrestling, Scottish folk wrestling, Mongolian bokh, Aikido, Sambo, Taichi, Pankration, and sumo itself. And this will be his third year of sumo competition coming up. Of course compared to Higashi that's a minuscule amount, but compared to your average "novice" that's a wealth of experience.
The side of sumo i am interested the most in is the Thruster type, the pushing, palm strike, ring out type rather than the grappler. They make a weapon out of the push.
Me too, but over the past couple years I've noticed that you won't see much of it outside of the japanese ranks. Tachi-ais are soft and the push-thrust attacks are minimal even at the worlds level. It's all about the grapple outside of Japan.
There's no hard contact at the tachiai, the belt doesn't provide the same grip control as a mawashi and there's no open palm strikes, and you do not have the actual brace of a doyo. It's not the same as being beaten by a judoka.
Love it !
I love how the two of you are geeking out over the different sports you do and how to apply them in multiple scenarios. Love it.
Sensei shintaro"s foot work isamazing!
Seth is bigger but Shintaro has the head of an even bigger man than Seth 😂
It is all the grappling knowledge that has made his head big

Very interested in Sumo concepts of self defence. Using momentum to forward pressure to get a throw (like Fedor's high shoot off punches)
Excited for this one
Sensei Higashi's got those Abi mattas :p this was really cool to watch and hear the breakdowns

Hey he lost lol😊
@jw-nz2vx novice? Lol he beat the sensei. Did u not watch the video
I don’t mean Seth as a novice but sensei shintaro beat him more times
@@Guest-m1c Seth won in the end
For me this underscores just how fast and violent the first second of a professional sumo match tends to be
He needs to compete in sumo
0:39 crazy leg work 🔥🔥🔥
Unofficial National champion!
what?

Are you a fan of Abi? He looked solid last basho.
@JSMHP Abi was an ozeki slayer, he was awesome to watch.
Epic
Nice
Still gets beat by a Judoka lol
US sumo level isn't super high. Most of the guys competing in pro sumo have judo black belts too.

They are not going full intensity there... It's a training match.
such fun
