  • Join us for an exclusive look inside the Adams County Historical Society collection as they prepare to move into a new building. Featured items include a program from The Gettysburg Address, dinosaur footprints, and a soldier's haversack from World War 1.
The American Battlefield Trust preserves America’s hallowed battlegrounds and educates the public about what happened there and why it matters. We permanently protect these battlefields for future generations as a lasting and tangible memorial to the brave soldiers who fought in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, and the Civil War.

The letter about “the man here hunting for his son”! That seems chilling to me because just imagine how many family members came to Gettysburg in the days after because they had heard their family folks had died! They wanted proof that they were gone! Just imagine the knock on your door possibly in the night wanting to search your property! They had gotten word their son had been killed on your property and now they look to find their remains! WOW just WOW

Great video guys! The WWI "haversack" is a bag for the 1917 Gas Mask.

Never before cataloged? How did all of those artifacts wind up in a new storage building? And why haven't they been cataloged? Any battlefield relics there that actually pertain to the battle? Just "all of a sudden there here and not cataloged" doesn't automatically give them Provenance. Awfully tiny weather vane to be atop that huge tall building. Time would be better spent going back to Perryville and doing them justice just like you promised!

Great video! I wish they wouldn't let those guys handle the David Wills silver with bare hands!! I'm sorry, with my four decades in the museum profession I cringed watching that!! 😨

Gary please, we all get the disclaimer about wearing gloves. Give it a rest please. Along with constantly telling us we are watching the Battlefield Trust. Trust me we know what we are watching my friend...
