Back about 5 years ago there was a Kiln Fiend deck in pauper that, for a shot time, was one of the top decks in the meta. People called it hotdogs ( I dunno why) but myself, among others really liked the concept of this "all in turn 3" type of aggro strategy. Then Slickshot Showoff made the list, to an extent, modern viable. Modern giving the deck preordain which is better than faithless looting. OR you could run Abundant Harvest, allowing us to safely cut down to 15-16 lands. Emberheart challengers exile ability gave us a better reason to run Gut Shot. Pact of Negation gave us more protection to go alongside Apostle's Blessing. Monstrous Rage gave us another playable source of evasion, something only Temur Battle Rage could do B4. This allowed us to swap in some assault strobes. Making the deck even faster. But watch out. This all in strategy is rather easily hated on. Basically any top tier midrange deck should be able to mop the floor with you.
When I see these types of decks I’m skeptical b/c they are so good for multi queuing that I feel like they end up over represented in the online meta. Deck sure can steal games though!
I think this deck's main issue is it almost has 0 interaction with your opponents battlefield preboard and is very susceptible to removal. Obviously it's just very glass cannon, but I don't see how this beats a normal Red/X deck that interacts with burn spells unless you can race them without them having interaction.
Hi, I'm trying to get ready for the regional championship of Lille in november, I'm currently testing a dimir version of the phoenix deck which looks good so far, but there is just no way I can beat this rakdos prowess. Are you sure this is not the best deck already?
I remember the first time I saw Monstrous Rage being utilized was the Red Aggro deck from the last Modern Pro Tour where it did okay vs all the Nadu decks. Perhaps people just saw the power level and began playing with it following the Pioneer bans?
@@d00mwake or just cut black completely and instead of callous sell-sword and claim we put thud and play with fire...sure you miss some things without the second color, but the same moment you have better mana base
You are single handedly getting me interested in pioneer
Great stuff! Keep the Pioneer content coming, its really fun right now!

It's called hotdogs because Kiln Fiend looks like a dog that's on fire.
Great content!! Pioneer finally feels fresh it’s nice.

Holy cow this deck is cracked
Love the pioneer content
Ty 4 pioneer
Yeah it started as the Gruul deck in Standard splashing black just for Sellsword, then Pioneer dropped the green for more interaction
Really cool deck and great content do you think you could try out mono white humans? Its pretty good in the current meta and underrated imo.
cool deck

Hi, may i please ask for a suideboard guide for rakdos prowess?
I don't have one but I would recommend checking out Tandy on twitter

The rakdos deck is good but I think people still just haven’t adjusted too much to it in the MTGO meta

It's been respected for a while
It's been played in pioneer since it was printed, it's been in Boros heroic previously
On the explorer ladder on Arena you'll meet this deck roughly 85% of the time.
Yikes 😬
silly question..why not bors instead of rakdos? just remake boros heroic...it has better spells to bump and protect our bodies....
Thoughtseize and Fatal Push are too good. I wonder if there’s a mardu or Jund version with those and splashing protection spells
